This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to India. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|India|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to India. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Delete This is a company therefore GNG/WP:NCORP requires at least two deep or significant sources with each source containing "Independent Content" showing in-depth information *on the company*. "Independent content", in order to count towards establishing notability, must include original and independent opinion, analysis, investigation, and fact checking that are clearly attributable to a source unaffiliated to the subject. Chandramukhi (film series)

Only two films not three. Different cast mostly than original and as per the director. All sources are about first film only. The second film was not yet released and if released, it will likely not be a huge box office success. No need of warranting an article like KGF (film series) and Enthiran (film series). The most surprising thing is accepting this article which is a clear failure of WP:NBAD and WP:GNG. The statement under WP:NBAD states "Medalist at the Grand Prix Gold or BWF World Tour" which this player is nowhere near of. We have been constantly getting articles like Draft:Revati Devasthale for example, which has even won a international event, incomparable to this subject Dilshad and yet the article has not been accepted because the reviewers rightly say that this article doesn't pass the guidelines.

Luckily somehow this article remains an exception, which has not even won an international event, let alone any BWF grand prix or world tour event. His highest achievement is the "bronze medal" at Lagos which doesn't qualify as podium finish under badminton guidelines and other achievements are far more undeserving of an individual article in wikipedia which are all confined to University or State level competitions.

One more thing, I tagged this article on [July 26 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:MobileDiff/1167174506] with notability concerns. This player, who has been inactive on the circuit for years, somewhow gets all his bio or coverage, almost a month later (24/August/2023), in an unreliable source - Up18 based in Uttar Pradesh. What concerns me is if this news agency is paid to write something about this subject, largely unknown, not even close to some low tier players of India competing in International Circuit and winning some series/challenger events.

I request you all to please kindly read about this article and carefully vote because there are already a lot of concerns about this player's notability.

I believe that User:Zoglophie has some problem with me. Not only he was rude with me during, the 1st nomination of deletion for this article. he was also disrespectful against the administrator User:Ritchie333 who gave the no consensus‎ motion for the 1st nomination and started arguing with him as well. He has clear conflict of interest and doesn't want this article to be in Wikipedia literally. Here is the archive chat for that -[6]

I would also suggest the Wikipedia community to go through the complete chat for the 1st nomination and specially after it was relisted.

With regards to Dilshad he is a bronze medallist in a international event, former team captain of the Indian team, and several of his opponents and teammates have their own articles. and i would like to point out that he won a national-level university championship for a major country and then a state-level tournament for a jurisdiction which by itself would be comparable to a fairly major country.

Also i would like to point out that Mr Dilshad and his partner where ban by the Kerala badminton Assocation because they complain about the association in media that they were treated unfairly by them which jeopardise Dilshad's career after the controversy. And in India specially in badminton there are limited amount of players that has achieve medal in international event as compared to the population they have. so, media does like to hear about people who have a controversial career. so, news article does pop - up every year.

And who said that this player is inactive huh? here is this details that he has been playing.. the last match he played according to the official badminton website was in 2022 in INFOSYS FOUNDATION India International Challenge 2022 -[7]

Please, do not add false information in the discussion that he hasn't played in years!

Mr Zoglophile is taking this personally and he is taking the rules too strictly. i would like to remind him of WP:Ignore all rules policy where the focus of the article should be for improvement and written in an neutral point of view not to implement rule on everything that he sees ..which is exactly what he is doing right now.. i wrote this article following the rules and guidleines of wikipedia best to my knowledge. There are 27 references about this person in which 2 - 3 have significant coverage about him... pls, note why don't you go through each of the references found in his Wikipedia page right now ... you know that very well right? that a news article validation doesn't last long sometimes it either becomes archive or it is very difficult to be found due to its ranking getting extremely reduced over time. this badminton player when he was in his prime was in controversial news about 5 - 6 years ago and in his prime 8 - 10 years ago... now he come to an retirement age so, you wouldn't find much article written about him now since, fame does go away after some time. comment - I would like to mention that the 8th reference that the nominator has mentioned which he was not able to access (which i don't know why because it was accessible from the very beginning) has significant coverage of the badminton player - Rayan, Stan (2009). All those points are fine and dandy, but we need articles about the person, not just listings in a database or a few lines in an article about something else. We can have articles on anything under the sun, from tiktok memes to food dishes to WW2 extermination camps to serial killers, but they all must have extensive sourcing about the "thing". Delete 1) per GNG: there is no significant coverage article about the person. per nom all the sources came from database and only a trivial mention. 2) per WP:NBAD clearly state tht notability for badminton players if they had a podium finish at tournaments of the BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix (until 2017) or the BWF World Tour or Super 100 level (from 2018 onwards). And fyi, the international tournament won by Dilshad Kamaludheen is a lower grade in badminton tournament (see the example of badminton tournament structure here--> 2023 BWF season, the Lagos International not a part of BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix or BWF World Tour. 3) still in WP:NBAD: there are only the winner and the runner-up who step on the podium in BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix (until 2017) or the BWF World Tour or Super 100 level (from 2018 onwards). So, how come the semi-finalists in the lower grade of badminton tournament meets the notability. 4) Never enter top 100 in the Badminton World Federation ranking. 5) Never competed in the BWF World Championships. 6) Never won the Indian National Badminton Championships. Weak delete Syed Sadique Hussain Sorry but under the current situation the article doesn't pass GNG and SNG. Even if you think the player has remarkable achievements, notability is based on SIGCOV and not how good are the subject's achievements. The reason I put "weak" is because we have difficulty in accessing and assessing the source, but after all, we cannot postpone a discussion just because of a single source. If you believe that you can find more reliable sources that provides independent SIGCOV to the subject, feel free to request draftification here or create a userpage with the same content and we will support you to develop a guideline-passing article. Regarding the nom, I admit that the user should have assumed good faith for all editors, including the ones who opposes the user's views but did not violate any conduct policies. The user has insisted on not dropping the stick, which may be considered as disruptive editing if the user fails to understand that there has been strong consensus on endorsing the first nomination's result. On the other hand, Indefensible should not have used a previous AfD/DRV outcome as an elaboration for a keep vote; after all, no consensus doesn't theoretically mean that it passes the guidelines, and consesnsus can change. I personally had some conflicts with the nominator quite a long time ago, but you should try to understand the user's stance, and that the user is just trying to do his job by nominating an article for deletion which fails GNG and SNG. Comment I went through all the sources in the table added by TheChunky, and anyone can verify their titles and content, which primarily revolve around gossip, updates, and rumors concerning Rakhi Sawant and Deepak Kalal's marriage.

Furthermore, this source is all about Rakhi Sawant's marriage, which falls into the WP:BLP1E category, as I pointed out during the nomination.
As for the second source, it's also from India Today, and I mentioned in my previous response that it's a reliable one.
The third source is an update from PTC Punjabi.
The fourth source is from Women's Era, and the fifth and sixth sources are sources from ABP News, with the seventh source being from Latestly. They all contain gossip about Rakhi Sawant and Deepak Kalal's marriage, so they fit under the WP:BLP1E sources category.
Next up, we have the source from Firstpost, the ninth one from India TV, and the tenth source from News18. These are tag links where Deepak Kalal was tagged, and all the articles in that tag are gossip and rumors about Rakhi Sawant's marriage.

Further more, I noticed the opening statement of the subject's article says he's an actor (an occupation which comes first) but there's nothing mentioned of him portraying any role other than that of a talent show. It reads that he was featured in various popular songs and albums of which are not listed and the only musical composition mentioned is a song titled "Next Level" which also does not appear to be notable as it does not have any certificate. I don't know enough about any Indian media sites to assess reliability of any of these sources, but 1, 2, or 3 might establish notability. @Toddy1 Invalid comment. You cannot assume notability of one article by comparing it with other articles; after all, Tube stations have a long history and there is sufficient SIGCOV; however, no individual coverage is provided for Indian metro stations, at least according to my research. @Gidonb, as you can see, most articles can be redirected, only some need further consensus and some have been improved, so I don't see why "each station is its own case and deserves a serious discussion". To me they are all very similar (except the two articles which have been expanded after my nomination). The merge is equivalent to a redirection. I disagree that we can go out with a broad brush and claim that metro stations in different cities and even states resemble each other, just because all are in India. Each station would need to be discussed on its own merrits (i.e. the existence of sources per WP:NEXIST, NOT the current state of sourcing) and I will warn upfront that I am going to be lenient with sources as we have a MAJOR problem with equity in coverage between developed and developing nations, alongside a real problem with sources in developing nations. That said, I would like to be constructive. YOUR BEST CASE here is to merge Pune Railway Station metro station into Pune Junction railway station. I understand your frustration, the articles about Chinese stations created by me also got redirected because few Chinese sources are defined as reliable (e.g. WeChat and Sina are the major news sources, but unfortunately they aren't reliable). Frustrations aside, I still need to uphold the guidelines. The articles fail GNG; you cannot disprove that (unless you can provide SIGCOV, even local sources are ok, in that case welcome). You mentioned NEXIST; however, I cannot find any independent reliable coverage of the stations. WP:TRAINSTATION, an SNG, has long been deprecated. Also, I don't see any harm of removing articles with no extra information; the articles I nominated are almost identical, and readers cannot get any useful information out of it other than a few specific parameters which may not interest most readers, not backed up by RS, and can be shown in a list of stations. Keep all - Not only is this far too many articles for a batch AfD, but major metro stations of a major metropolitan city are inherently notable. It is impossible for there not to be extensive government reports, surveys, budgets and other records on such projects. As mentioned above we have articles on stations of every other major city. I honestly doubt anyone would even think of AfDing any of the similar London Underground, Berlin U-Bahn or Paris Metro stations. Is this a case of systemic bias? I suppose it's apropos that a discussion about metro stations may end in a trainwreck. In lieu of source hunting or verifying, which is hard in such cases, I'm going to suggest Keep all because of
1. Multiple have notability established at this point.
2. One editor was !voting redirect in hopes of quickly restoring several that may have SIGCOV.
3. One editor is concerned about WP:NOTTEMPORARY and removal of references.
4. Other implicity trainwreck !votes.
5. Good faith nominator got pinged back a couple times, and is now accidentally bludgeoning the discussion, unfortunately making it even harder to follow for every new editor to arrive here, meaning I don't think the situation is going to improve at this point.

User:pepperbeast, that was a trip down memory lane, and along the way I ran into permanently indeffed editors and deceased administrators. I deleted the article as promotional and a copyvio, and restored a cleaned up version to the original creator's sandbox; it was later moved to article space by another admin. Comment At first I thought this was going to be a no-brainer delete, but their official website appears to be Bihartimes.news, not bihartimes.com or bihartimes.in. It's real, now we need to see whether it's notable. EDIT: Okay, I checked around and it looks like a newspaper called Bihar Times has been around since 1894 but fell into disrepair in recent years: [13] But according to the Wikipedia article's current sources, these might be two different publications [14]. There may have been a newspaper called "Bihar Times" in the 1990s. However, recent news websites like "Bihartimes.news," etc., are not the same publication and appear to be unreliable. "Balotra News" is a notable and relevant topic, it should have a Wikipedia page. Notability can be established if there are reliable sources and references to support its significance. Oppose The film is the sequel to a well known Indian film and is going to be released shortly which would make a deletion hasty. The film has also already run into religious controversy which has attracted significant attention further improving non-marketed coverage. Wikipedia has a couple of similar directory-like articles, such as List of Christian denominations in India. However, per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, this list's assemblage of denominations and local jurisdictions within those denominations appears to be novel. Sourcing does not indicate that delineating these denominations as present in Northeast India specifically is merited, with references dedicated more towards identifying congregants in individual ecclesiastical jurisdictions (constituting, in my opinion, original research). ~ Pbritti (talk) 23:10, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

- It seems like you're articulating a WP:LISTPURP-NAV justification for retaining the list. I don't see a justified purpose in this case: it is unlikely that a list article satisfies the users have some general idea of what they are looking for but do not know the specific terminology need–this being fundamentally satisfied by List of Christian denominations in India. If one was looking for a comprehensive examination of Christianity in Northeast India, a non-list article on that subject is what should provide those details. Keep. See Northeast India#Religions.

Northeast India contains less than 5% of India’s population. Yet 30% of Indian Christian live in this 8-state area. Christianity is the largest religion in several states. I would not expect an article like this for any other Indian region.

It would nice in the future if the article explained the reasons for this concentration and the history of evangelism there. Also, the variations in denominations between states; I think in some cases this was a function of which denominations went to which areas.

The Times of India source is basically the press release from [17] with some VERY minor changes. If this had been pasted into an article here, it would have been reverted and rev-deleted as a copyright violation. It's published on TOI, but it's just a press release. These are all from academic sources unconcerned with Krishna Menon, which recurrently call the family "dominant", "prominent", "major", "famous", and so on.

Meanwhile, maintaining that VK Krishna Menon is the only notable member of the family is also bizarre. VK Nayanar more or less invented the short story and satire in Malayalam and is canonically one of the most influential figures in Malayalam literature. VK Chinnammalu Amma was a central figure in Malayali feminism and literature. Raman Menon was the Dewan of Travancore. VA Janaki was the chair of the geography department at Baroda College/Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and a leading Indian geographer, especially of Kerala. All are discussed as such in the literature. It's not clear to me how exactly Sir C.P. Ramaswami Iyer is related to the Vengalils, but he's definitely notable. It is unclear where you are quoting these lines from. Having 1-2 notable people like Vengayil Kunhiraman Nayanar and V. K. Krishna Menon does not make the family notable. Also, the entire country was ruled over by many feudal vassals in the 1800s. None of these references indicate that the family was any better than the other feudal landlords who also owned lands. I completely agree with you. It looks as though the author of this article was trying to pen down his egoistic thoughts into wiki. Just 2 or 3 notable members from the family does not make the family themselves notable(Also Vengayil kunhiraman nayanar was from the vengayil family, which is another family. The Vengalil's were a Menon family). There were many menon families who related to royals of kerala by marriage and this seems like an advertising campaign for the family. In addition to that, as you mentioned, there are no proper sources. Many such Menon families like the Ankarath, Vadakke kuruppath, Ambat etc. were equally wealthy and produced eminent personalities but I don't see them having a separate wiki page. Like I mentioned in the Talk page, this article needs to strictly kept to family discussions and blogs rather than on Wikipedia. Non-notable family. The article is about a family, and should not be confused with Poomulli Mana which is their house. The house has been attracting some attention as a tourist and healthcare destination, but I do not think it still would be enough to qualify our WP:N standards, and there is definitely not enough material on the family anyway. The last AFD ages ago was probably hijacked by members of the family who mass-voted to keep this. Delete, but a reluctant one. The article as it stands is effectively unsourced since everything fails verification. I have to agree with the nom that, as written, it reads as either WP:PROMO or WP:CRUFT. That said, it does not warrant SALT, as it is entirely possible that an encylopaedic article could be written.
