Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Badminton|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

How long do you spend searching for coverage for each of these athletes? Do you search in their native languages in addition to English? It seems unlikely that detailed searches are being performed when (i) the nominations are in mass quantities and (ii) you don't even make clear in the nominations that you're searching, only stating that they "fail notability guidelines". Weak Keep- checking the existing citations and looking out for additional searches show the subject has Won some sports events as well as having become a national coach at one time like 21 and 22 and 23, though I would agree most of the articles are passing mentions. Did you even read WP:NBAD? Winning national championships alone is not a go to ticket for an automatic article, with the sources you mention are describing. First source is "winning a bronze medal" second, won a national championship with partner xyz, and nothing else. being a local coach with one source about his own club doesn't indicate notability at all. That club even doesn't describe him at all, and one source only mentions that he placed third in a "Chicago Open" tournament which wasn't recognised as a BWF International tournament. Moreover, source being reliable still has to talk about the subject in depth, which the GNG and SIGCOV says. Hence, your keep rationale is not valid. zglph^•talk• 05:34, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

~~Slight keep~~, looking her up on Google pulls back several articles in Estonian. I am refraining from a full keep as I cannot confirm the reliability of the sources and I am unsure if they are non-trivial mentions as I do not speak Estonian. "Articles" you claim don't establish her notability per GNG and SIGCOV. Europe Cup is a team event and your claim that she won the Europe Cup is outright false, she did not win the Europe Cup. Maybe you meant she won one of the matches for her team? But, winning matches alone don't warrant an article for the subject. Thousands of athletes win matches each day, but we don't create articles for all of them. This source tells that she won with her partner defeating xyz pair and then, nothing else. this tells that she'll be playing with which opponent and nothing else. zglph^•talk• 17:06, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
