Penis saint … or geography of the Kyrgyz Republic ?

Ters
Geography
CountryKyrgyz Republic

Ters (Терс) is a mountain in the west of the Kyrgyz Republic, between the Ters and Chatkal rivers.[1] It is 30 kilometres (19 mi) long running roughly south-west to north-east, and between 13 and 15 kilometres (8.1 and 9.3 mi) wide.[1]

The Chaktal side slopes whereas the Ters side is the steeper, with a gorge-like valley.[1] The mountain is mostly crystalline granite, with intrusions of Carboniferous granite-diorite and granite-syenite rock.[1]

It is between 3,000 and 3,300 metres (3,300 and 3,600 yd) high, its highest point being 3,890 metres (4,250 yd).[1] Up to 2,300 metres (7,500 ft) it is covered in field and meadow steppe, meadow and forest bush above that to 2,800 metres (9,200 ft), and above that tall grass meadow and alpine meadow.[1]

My story today is about a mezzo as a thinking person, DYK? (The nomination wasn't by me, which probably helped to a short review.) - Look at the video if you have a few minutes. I never saw her on stage, but (in 2022) the last Carmen production at the Bastille Opéra that she was in, - see music. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:20, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Happy birthday, Margaret Medlyn! (I found the article - not by me - when searching for someone whose birthday is today.) - I took a cat pic, presented by Rosiestep today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:45, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Happy 50th birthday, Alain Altinoglu!) - I let the video begin with a closeup of the octobass ;) Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:33, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am proud to have brought two performing women to the main page. Sadly, death kept both from performing more, one sooner, the other much later. If you have little time just listen to the one who died young and see if it touches you (in today's story, - I don't want to sprinkle youtube links outside my user pages). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:15, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am sad that I had to bring two more people there. At least the video in my story is cute, made for children. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:34, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My latest: Roberta Alexander, - listen. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:38, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to bother you. Could you re-link ukase in the articles in question? I added basic coverage of the concept to Law of the Russian Empire and left a redirect. Ⰻⱁⰲⰰⱀⱏ (ⰳⰾ) 14:14, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry, but I think you can do that better than me--I have no content knowledge. Feel free to go through and hit "revert" on those things, if you think that's appropriate. Drmies (talk) 15:30, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    • No content knowledge is required, but you de-linked on a lot of articles and I don't have rollback, so I was hoping you could revert yourself. Also, you probably aren't aware but by removing "links/list items", the automated edit you used deleted a lot of well-sourced content. Ⰻⱁⰲⰰⱀⱏ (ⰳⰾ) 16:26, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
      • I see that now. I'll tell you, the things that happen when you use the automated deletion tools are very opaque, and next time I'll be much more careful. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 16:42, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can you consider undeletion and history merging with the new redirect that has since been created? The end result is more like a BLAR situtation, so wouldn't it be better if it looked like that? Srnec (talk) 16:05, 11 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance

If you want to participate here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Draymondlabiad#Munir_Mohamedi_-_Reply)... Just wrote a message to this user trying to have them remove the note at the top of their talkpage. Also, me and another user are trying to have them see the error of their ways when adding irrelevant honours, thus far to no avail!

Attentively RevampedEditor (talk) 16:04, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing! Here's how much this user should be respected: they added a "source" saying that the subject was voted best goalkeeper of the 2024–25 CAF Confederation Cup (one his team won, that's a fact). That "source" (see https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/9468/stats/season/24256/players/clean_sheet/caf-confed-cup) is nothing more than a stat sheet saying Mr. Mohamedi was the goalie with the most clean sheets during the competition; i put my wiki-muscles to work (i may be a "vandal" that could be blocked anyday soon, but i'm also a workhorse), and browsed the web, in French, in English, and voilá! Best goalkeeper of said competition was Moussa Camara (see https://www.facebook.com/AfricaSoccerZone/posts/-presenting-our-caf-confederation-cup-202425-team-of-the-season-the-standout-sta/677447354915923/)!!

Attentively, enjoy the rest of your evening wherever you are --RevampedEditor (talk) 22:07, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As expected, they have returned to action, now with IP!! --RevampedEditor (talk) 15:32, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

They continue to add irrelevant stuff (for example, WP:FOOTY says to STOP adding monthly individual honours) and other stuff just to boost the player (i.e. Morocco's unbeaten run belongs to the national team's article, not here, especially when he's not even the starting goalkeeper!). When is a definitive action going to take place, please? --RevampedEditor (talk) 09:15, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I left them another (polite but to-the-point) message. Not that they give two shits about what i think, they'll continue to do it. --RevampedEditor (talk) 09:35, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

SPI

Hey there Drmies, hope you're well. I was wondering if you could take a look at this SPI when you have time? CU yielded nothing, so it needs a behavioral evaluation. Thank you. --Griboski (talk) 16:05, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Drmies - thanks for the edit, I've done a lot of editing but new to creating pages. Is there anything I can do to get this reviewed? Thank you very much. Aoxomoxoa1313 (talk) 11:24, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • You submitted it, so now you have to wait for a volunteer to look at it, but I think I know what the result will be. If you cite Genius and thinks like this but no reliable secondary sources, the result is predictable. Drmies (talk) 11:42, 23 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I do not understand why you left this message, when rejecting my draft: "This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia."

There is an article on Italian Wiki on Mayer https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Mayer_von_Heldenfeld It has three sources and most of the text is a machine translation of the entry in Hirtenfeld's book about winners of the Maria-Theresien-Ordnen. There is also an article on Heinrich Schmitt https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Johann_Heinrich_von_Schmitt&action=history with whom Mayer worked in creating the plan for the 1796 campaign, reckoned to be the finest of Archduke Charles. I have tried to expand on the Italian article, bringing in material that is not well-known about Mayer, but there is not that much secondary material as relatively little has bee written about the Austrian Empire since its final collapse in 1918. DaveHMBA (talk) 16:00, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm sorry if you don't understand that. What happens on the Italian wiki is not relevant here. The talk of "many talents" and "skills" and "excellent subordinate" shouldn't happen in what is supposed to be the neutral Wikipedia voice. The long paragraphs, and the many paragraphs that don't have concluding citations, that should be obvious. That's actually the real problem with the sourcing: you have too much unsourced content, so much that it's hard to see the forest for the trees. Now, if you say "there is not much secondary material", then you yourself are indicating what the problem is, but as far as I am concerned the problems I signaled could likely be handled by judicious editing, with pruning being high on the list. Good luck. Drmies (talk) 10:00, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks fr the advice. However, I am still confused by the relevance issue: as well as Mayer being on Italian Wiki, there are items on English Wiki on Mayer's contemporaries, Heinrich Schmitt, Philip Grunne and Max Wimpffen. The last, who was in he same position as Chief of Staff later in he 1809 campaign has a piece lifted solely from something I wrote 20 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilian_von_Wimpffen DaveHMBA (talk) 09:41, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
      • The Italian wiki and the English wiki are two different wikis. What goes there may not go here, and vice versa. I am not sure what those other articles have (and you could have linked them) but there also--that something is in one article doesn't mean it should be in all similar articles, unless maybe it's a GA or an FA. Prune the draft, make sure everything is properly verified, and there shouldn't be a problem. Drmies (talk) 12:49, 27 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Block Request

Hi Drmies,

Could you block me for six months? I want to take a reinforced Wikibreak, since this entire environment is not conducive to my mental health - too many people who resort to dismissive insults rather than address points. I'm going to log out as well, so I may not see any messages. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 12:21, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to see this, Chris. I hope to see you back in six months in a better frame of mind. Good luck and enjoy the break. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 12:34, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Chris--I'm sorry to hear this. Do you mind sending me an email to confirm, and so we can chat? Drmies (talk) 12:46, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Guide to temporary accounts

Hello, Drmies. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

How do temporary accounts work?

Editing from a temporary account
  • When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern: ~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
  • All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
  • A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
  • As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
    • There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
    • There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

How to enable IP Reveal

Impact for administrators

  • It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
  • It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
  • Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

  • Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
  • Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
  • See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.

Useful tools for patrollers

  • It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options → Tick Enable the user info card
    • This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
  • Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
  • Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
  • The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.
