Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Various IPs persistently removing sourced content. Danners430 tweaks made 19:42, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

  • Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 19:49, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Last disruption was a day ago. Daniel Case (talk) 04:59, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Persistent addition of original research, written in unencyclopedic tone, by various anon accounts (probably the same person). Iiii I I I (talk) 01:19, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

User(s) blocked: SerpentorC (talk · contribs) blocked by GorillaWarfare. indefinitely. Daniel Case (talk) 05:00, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Reason: The article covers a highly controversial and politically sensitive topic. It is likely to attract ragebait or nationalistic vandalism as the election approaches. Requesting Semi protection for a period of six months. Raihanur (talk) 11:43, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Question: @Raihanur: Is there actual disruption underway? Because pages are not protected preemptively. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:05, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Per above. Daniel Case (talk) 05:05, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Recurrent IP vandalism, seemingly a string of sockpuppets likely from the same user. AmityCity (talk) 12:22, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Preferably, indefinite semi-protection. Vandalism has been going on for years; however, since it's mostly occurring from IPs and could stand to be open to improvement from a wide range of users in other regards, hopefully it doesn't need a higher level of protection. AmityCity (talk) 12:24, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. RunningOnBrains(talk) 03:55, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Reason: This biography of a living person has been subject to persistent vandalism, unsourced additions, and biased edits, often from unregistered or newly created accounts. These repeated disruptions compromise the article’s neutrality and accuracy, especially regarding sensitive political and biographical details. Semi-protection is requested to ensure content stability and compliance with Wikipedia’s biographies of living persons (BLP) ~2025-32434-15 (talk) 17:44, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Maybe two instances of disruption in the last couple of weeks. Daniel Case (talk) 05:20, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Can you please consider protecting this page? Previously, several sockfarms have attempted to remove controversy-related information from this page, and a disclosed paid editor posted on the talk page. I wouldn't be surprised if the latest removal was done by editors with COI.

I decided not to restore the information yet. I have asked for feedback at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Husain Al-Musallam.

I would appreciate your comment. Please ping me on reply. Thanks. Janhrach (talk) 20:15, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A number of IPs (what do we call them now, unregistered users?) have been edit warring over the picture used in the lead, against consensus on the talk page. See Talk:Sanae Takaichi#Lead image, some have been adding AI-modified images. I would appreciate if semi protection could be enacted so that we can have stability and encourage talk page participation. Yours, &c. RGloucester 23:51, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because l will protect this page TFFA-4460 (talk) 06:31, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

Hello! I formally request the autopatrolled user right. I'm a regular user of Wikipedia, both in English and Spanish, and I consider that, after so many years and hundreds of articles created on both wikis, i am in the position to say that I know the rules and styles. I've never cared much about user rights, but now that I've started a personal project (ambassadors of Spain and all its lists) to expand diplomatic information about my country, Spain, I'd like to avoid the workload that comes with reviewing articles that comply with our rules. Thank you. TheRichic (Messages here) 11:12, 14 October 2025 (UTC)

@TheRichic: why is Francisco Javier Conde de Saro notable? voorts (talk/contributions) 01:20, 19 October 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I formally request the Autopatrolled user right. I'm a regular user of Wikipedia, both in Turkish and English. I have contributed to the Turkish Wikipedia, particularly on the Tao-Klarjeti region. I have also started to transfer these contributions to the English Wikipedia. I think it would be good to reduce the workload involved in reviewing the items I have written. Thank you. --ႧႤႧႰႨ ႾႠႰႨ (talk) 15:32, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

I have been editing Wikipedia since 2006, have created numerous new articles, edited countless others, and am very familiar with its policies. Λeternus (talk) 12:46, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

I've periodically patrolled Michelangelo1992's articles, and consistently found them to be in good shape. Focused on books as a topic area and very clear familiarity with WP:NBOOK. He's created 135 articles. ~ L 🌸 (talk) 22:56, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

@Michelangelo1992: I'm a little concerned about overly lengthy quotations. Would you commit to summarizing quotations a bit more? Also, see MOS:SAID. voorts (talk/contributions) 03:24, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for the feedback! I’ve always trended toward direct quotes to avoid concerns for original research, but I can make an effort to paraphrase more in the future while still citing the original source. I’ll also try to be more mindful of WP:SAID. I thought I was doing fairly well with this, but I am always open to feedback particularly if you have specific suggestions relating to recent articles. Thank you! Michelangelo1992 (talk) 14:37, 3 November 2025 (UTC)

Hi. I was granted a temporary autopatrolled rights which is going to be expired on 15 November. @Dr vulpes,@Dclemens1971 Thoughts? Sohom (talk) 19:48, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) Thanks for ping Sohom Datta. Without any new pages to go off of, I don't know that there's a strong rationale for autopatrolled since the user is not yet creating pages at a pace where reviewing them is a burden to patrollers. The user did expand one previously created redirect; it includes one sentence that is copied from a source (see here). I'd also be curious to find out what happened with these pages, Fade258: [8], [9]. Did you nominate them for speedy deletion or were they left for patrollers to find and fix? Dclemens1971 (talk) 20:46, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Hi @Dclemens1971, Thanks for your comments. I aggree with you and I have modified the text which you have mentioned above. Regarding those two redirects above, I didn't nominate them for speedy deletion. If I remember correctly then, Mistakley, I created a redirect in article's talk page instead of article main page, for first redirect i.e 4. For second redirect i.e 5; It was deleted by @Jay: through RfD on 1 August 2025, where I created a redirect since there is an information about the Albuquerque: THE MOVIE in target redirect title but later removed citing notability concerns and references. I hope you understand. Thank You! Fade258 (talk) 01:27, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) @Sohom Datta In addition to the example of minor copying from a source that Dclemens1971 had pointed out, Fade258 has received two recent copyright warnings for their edits to Hobsonia florida: [10] [11]. Given that one of the guidelines for granting autopatrolled is a familiarity with copyright policy, I'm not sure that their autopatrolled right should be extended at this time.  Not done – Hi, and thank you for creating an account to edit Wikipedia. Although I fully understand your desire to dive right in, many of our articles are semi-protected because they are controversial, prone to vandalism, or other reasons. As a new editor with few edits, it might be wise to discuss your edits on the article talkpage in order to gain consensus for your edits, and then use {{Edit semi-protected}} to request the edit be performed. I only recommend this until you are used to the challenges of reliable sources, the biographies of living persons policy, and other similar policies. The good news is that fewer than 5 percent of Wikipedia articles are protected; this means that more than 95 percent of the articles can use your help right now! stwalkerster (talk) 14:28, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Requests for new page reviewer

New page reviewer

I'm not hunting for the New Page Reviewer right, but I'm confident that if or when I have it, I'll make a real difference in helping reduce the huge New Pages backlog... I’m a fast learner and actively participate in multiple (multitask) areas of maintenance work. Most of my contributions focus on anti-vandalism, using AutoWikiBrowser (AWB) for cleanup, adding or removing maintenance tags, copyediting, correcting categories & fixing bare URLs.

I have also participated in Good Article reviews, WP:AfD discussions and the New Pages Feed. Am familiar with our core content policies especially verifiability WP:V, No Original Research WP:NOR, Neutral Point of View WP:NPOV, reliable sourcing WP:RS, Biographies of Living Persons WP:BLP, notability WP:N and What Wikipedia Is Not WP:NOT and am confident applying them when reviewing pages.

My goal as a New Page Reviewer is to help reduce the backlog while ensuring that new articles meet Wikipedia's standards for quality and notability and also to support good-faith new editors along the way. Thank you in advance. ThilioR O B O T🤖 talk 06:05, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

I would like to have NPP rights mostly to patrol redirects. As background, I have written a number of articles and also created a number of redirects. I would mostly use this to patrol redirects. I am fairly active at WP:RfD. I am rarely active at AfD and would not use this to patrol articles unless they are fairly obvious as to what to do with them (bright-line either passes or fails), just to reduce the backlog. Casablanca 🪨(T) 02:41, 27 October 2025 (UTC)

I was a bit concerned by the application statement, as we don't apply special review criteria for editors who say they want to primarily review redirects, but in reviewing your article creations and AfD participation I'm satisfied that your understanding of the relevant policies and guidelines is solid.  Done signed, Rosguill talk 20:23, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

I want to help reduce the New Pages Feed backlog as a new page reviewer and will not review my own articles. My contributions and interests (mainly related to Japanese religions) are very similar to those of @Komitsuki: who also recently applied here last week; I have helped fix his some of articles and many other articles to fit WP:MOS guidelines. I'm a native English speaker who also knows Japanese and am very detail-oriented. I will be happy with a trial period and will try to get more AfD experience. Also, I understand this is a learning process that I am happy to carefully participate in. Thank you for considering my request. Yenistardom (talk) 19:06, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions and your interest in this permission. In reviewing your recent activity at AfC, I'm seeing you accepted a fair number of articles with signs of COI/UPE such as Dwta, Farah Talib Aziz and Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion. While it may not necessarily be wrong to move these to mainspace, you should be tagging them with {{upe}}, {{coi}} and/or following up with their initial editors to address these concerns; as it is, it's not even clear that you noticed the signs of UPE to begin with. I am interested in being granted the new page reviewer right. I have an extensive history of editing on Wikipedia, having created over two dozen well-sourced articles on a variety of topics, as well as expanding and improving stubs and starts to C class at least. I also regularly review citations to verify them when it seems appropriate, including recently acquiring an EPUB edition of a book for one article. I have come upon a few articles recently that havent been reviewed yet, and it would be useful to help get those squared away. I frequently work with other editors to develop a consensus where everyone is satisfied, particularly but not only in contentious areas. And I enjoy helping to guide newer users on how to construct a good quality article. I am also deeply anti-LLM so I will be on the lookout for such junk. With this right, I would continue to verify and improve citations, etc. Sadly, there is a seemingly limitless supply of poorly cited legacy and newer articles. ← Metallurgist (talk) 22:40, 5 November 2025 (UTC)

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights I have been on here for six months now, and recently also joined the simple Wikipedia. Have had 2 declined rollback requests in July and August but have since then, I now officially fully understand the basics of Wikipedia and how to edit, only issue I have had with my editing lately was an accidental page blanking I did due to page-move vandalism and failed move-back about a month ago, but have 2000 additional edits since then (4,100 total). I recently came across one article I was editing (Seth Curry) where the issue of not being a PC-reviewer took full effect, so I am requesting to be a PC reviewer, especially as some "Likely Have Problems" pending edits I have seen in the recent changes have actually been good. I'm already an AFC reviewer, NPR and have PCR and TAIV. I already use rollback with Twinkle, so it's nothing new to me, and I have read the policies. IAmChaos 02:17, 5 November 2025 (UTC)

I do A LOT of AV work and would like the right for reverting Vandalism. Tankishguy 20:49, 5 November 2025 (UTC)

I've been patrolling recent changes for over six months, and I feel like I now have enough experience dealing with vandalism (and other forms of disruptive editing) to be able to make useful contributions in this area with the additional technical abilities and access to tools granted through the rollback perm. I've used Twinkle and more recently Ultraviolet extensively (though not exclusively), so I know my way around the general "one-click revert" paradigm, and I almost always use appropriate edit summaries and talk page warnings. If I'd benefit from any constructive criticism, please let me know. Seercat3160 (talk) 02:35, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Requests for temporary account IP viewer

Temporary account IP viewer

Anti-vandalism. Being able to report to AIV whether it's a single IP address or an entire range (due to DHCP address assignment) is useful. As for the requirements for this permission, I've had an account since 2008, making over 12K edits. Most of them cleanup. Tarl N. (discuss) 07:26, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Patrolling recent changes and countering vandalism are a big part of what I have been doing for years. Unfortunately, the temporary account system, while understandable, has made the task harder than it needs to be. I'm active, always patrolling recent changes, reverting vandalism, and reporting sockpuppets. This permission would make it much easier. I've read the restrictions at WP:TAIVDISCLOSE. Skitash (talk) 20:20, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Deal with a lot of sockpuppets on various articles. For example, some funky stuff going on on Elections in South Korea rn. I've read the requirements grapesurgeon (talk) 21:25, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

I have an extensive history of recent change patrolling. Viewing IP addresses associated with temporary users is beneficial when analyzing multiple similar changes to a page in rapid succession. Funnyfarmofdoom (talk to me) 16:33, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

I am involved in counter-vandalism efforts, and would like the permission to analyze unconstructive edits from temporary-account editors. I have read and agree to the relevant policies. Best, Staraction (talk | contribs) 17:33, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

Patrolling cross-wiki abuse and agree to follow WMF policy. The rights will help me identify IP socks. 🅷🅴🅽🆁🅸 (Let's talk) 18:44, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

What do you mean by IP socks? —Femke 🐦 (talk) 18:45, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
I mean socks that using temporary account (like this one for example). 🅷🅴🅽🆁🅸 (Let's talk) 18:51, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Could you explain a bit more what you mean with that. Are you trying to detect WP:LOUTSOCKs? Or are you trying to detect if people pretend to be different individuals in discussions. I just want to make sure that there are quite a few good faith reasons for individuals to be linked to multiple account, such as those who automatically clear their cookies. —Femke 🐦 (talk) 19:39, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Yes, some of the cross-wiki abuses are not logged in (or never made an account) when they vandalize. The rights helps me to identify and track them. I am aware that some of the individuals with constructive edits are preferred to stayed anonimous. 🅷🅴🅽🆁🅸 (Let's talk) 21:08, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

I've been around a while, and a lot of my work on the project involves reverting vandalism and abuse. I have read the policy document and understand the restrictions around disclosure of information derived from the tool. — Manticore 21:10, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

I already have rollback and PCR rights, so this would be a natural extension for my anti-vandalism work. I have experience with both the past and present systems, and I have read, understood, and agreed to the provisions of the requirements and responsibilities of this right. I have moderate to advanced experience with RCP and NPP in the userspace. Thanks, 2003 LN6 21:36, 8 November 2025 (UTC)

I'm active in recent changes patrolling, and TAIV would make it much easier to see and properly handle vandalism, sockpuppetry and other disruption on the same/similar pages across the same IP range (particularly /64 v6 ranges), where there is no correlation between temporary accounts. I have read and agree to the requirements at WP:TAIVDISCLOSE. - Umby 🌕🐶 (talk) 03:56, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
