Temporary account IP viewer

Sorry, unregistered users cannot be granted permissions due to technical restrictions. Please create an account in order to request user account permissions.
Shortcuts
Please review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer before making a request. Successful applicants must:
  • Have an account which is at least account is a minimum of 6 months old and has made 300 edits
  • Agree to use the IP addresses in accordance with the Foundation's guidelines, solely for the investigation or prevention of vandalism, abuse, or other violations of Wikimedia Foundation or community policies, and understand the risks and responsibilities associated with this privilege

The above requirements are from the Wikimedia Foundation, and are not subject to admin discretion. Additionally, admins must be satisfied that the requesting user has a demonstrated need for access (for example, work at new page patrol, counter-vandalism, or sockpuppet investigations), and are permitted to decline applicants who meet these criteria but are otherwise unsuitable for access to this tool.

Once you have been granted the permission, you must check the box Preferences → User profile → Tick Enable revealing IP addresses for temporary accounts in your preferences.

Also a NPPer and AfC reviewer, who's additionally been doing some recent change patrolling (mostly with AntiVandal and RedWarn). IP access could be helpful especially for that last one, as we've been dealing with quite a few LTAs recently (if anyone is curious about my string of reverts without warnings, those are the thesaurus/date-changing LTA which was active these last few days). I think having the permission may be helpful once IP masking is implemented, since many of the socks and LTAs I come across use the same IP ranges. @Rsjaffe, looks like the last time I filed a case at SPI was in (late) April. [1].
Example countervandalism is this diff, from a week ago. here
@HouseBlaster, it was a fairly standard loutsock a while back. Nothing I'm too proud of, but my psychiatrist thinks the underlying mental health issues have mostly been resolved. As for why there're five tickets, I can't say. JayCubby 02:03, 5 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
