Question from D3FTwiki on Tony Saunders (bassist) (03:35, 24 January 2026)

[edit]

Hello, I've started to do some basic copy editing on various pages, but I've noticed that almost all the words with incorrect spelling marks are proper names or casual/slang talk. (Somethin' as a song title). Is there a way to mark these as correct and not needing edits? --D3FTwiki (talk) 03:35, 24 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, it seems the marks come from my computer and not from wikipedia's sofware. D3FTwiki (talk) 01:03, 26 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Older AfDs using a different class

[edit]

Hi, I was looking at old AfDs and seems like there's about 20k which use a boilerplate metadata vfd xfd-closed class instead of the boilerplate metadata afd vfd xfd-closed which your bot replaced (doesn't have the afd bit) --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 13:40, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like there's also 200 with only the afd bit --Nintendofan885T&Cs apply 13:53, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Nintendofan885: I haven't done much with MatrixBot for a while (~1 month) so it'll take a while to do all the AfD conversions, please be patient, I'll get around to it. Thanks for letting me know though :) —Matrix ping mewhen u reply (t? - c) 17:08, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

how do i make an article? goal is to make an article about alkoxyamine --Wazner1 (talk) 10:22, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

UK spelling - or US.

[edit]

If wiki standardised US spelling in information pages, will it auto change my UK spelt wordings? Some US spelling I know, but cant guarantee everything. StAndrewsFife (talk) 15:38, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@StAndrewsFife: no, Wikipedia doesn't have a spell check. Other editors might change it though, or not. It depends whether other editors notice, though I'd just write in the convention of the specific article (if it has one) to avoid problems. —Matrix ping mewhen u reply (t? - c) 15:59, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Alflyover (07:42, 9 March 2026)

[edit]

Hello, Matrix. I found an error in the Hafnium page.

The "Alloys" section has a portion that reads, "An alloy that includes as little as 1% hafnium can withstand temperatures that are 50 °C (122 °F) higher than the same alloy without hafnium.[13]". While a *temperature* of 50 degrees Celsius is 122 degrees Fahrenheit, the section is dealing with a *delta* of 50 degrees Celsius. That is 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

As proof, water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius and boils at 100 degrees Celsius, a delta of 100 Celsius degrees. Water also freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit and boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a delta of 180 Fahrenheit degrees. Or, a delta of 5 Celsius degrees equals a delta of 9 Fahrenheit degrees. Whoever wrote that section came up with a difference of 122 Fahrenheit degrees by including the 32-degree factor to align the two scales, meaning the delta Fahrenheit is too high by 32 degrees.

I will watch the page to see how such a correction is made, as I do not yet know how to edit. Once I see it done I will have some sensible questions to ask. Thank you.
