Reason: The article was semi-protected on February 26 by Daniel Case set to expire in May (I checked with him before posting here). I'm requesting that the protection be reduced to pending changes protection because there is a very substantive edit request on the talk page that seems to be in good faith and I think it would be good for the user to implement it themselves. Re-write the introduction to state the following:
The 2026 Iran War is the culmination of a decades-long campaign of aggression by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which had systematically funded, armed, and directed a network of proxy forces (including Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Houthis) to wage war against Israel and destabilize the broader Middle East. The conflict's proximate roots lie in the October 7, 2023 Hamas terror attacks on Israel, which killed approximately 1,200 Israeli civilians in massacres documented as the deadliest assault on Jewish people since the Holocaust. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps provided Hamas with funding, weapons, and strategic guidance in the lead-up to the attack.
Following the 2023 Gaza war and the June 2025 Twelve-Day War, in which Iran directly fired ballistic missiles at Israeli territory, Israel and the United States concluded that Iran's missile program and nuclear ambitions posed an existential and unacceptable threat. On February 28, 2026, Israel and the United States launched coordinated preemptive strikes on Iranian military and government installations, targeting capabilities Iran had repeatedly used to threaten and attack both nations. Reason for requesting extended confirmed rights: Hello. I was accused of creating trivial edits to "game" EP. However I do not believe this to be accurate. I posit that all my edits have contributed to Wikipedia and have been productive. If you look at the before and after of some of the pages I contributed to, Ashadeepam, The Lords of High Decision, Mercy on a Crutch, etc. I transformed them significant amount, turning template stubs into actual pages. I even painstakingly went through the entire Xylota genus to make sure each species page was more palatable than before. As for the 'gaming' accusation... I only made two to three edits that are related to PIA, which were done weeks after getting EC, not immediately after, and they were moreso out of curiosity and not done on any page specifally about the Arab–Israel conflict. I would like to mention I have some disabilities, such as nerve damage that causes pain in my dominant hand that sometime flares up, which makes it arbitrability harder to do longer tasks sometimes. I like to request New Page Reviewer rights to help with the NPP backlog. I have been active in AfC work (draft clean-ups, sourcing checks, NPOV/WP:PEACOCK fixes, and resubmissions) and I’m comfortable applying WP:GNG, WP:RS/WP:SECONDARY, WP:V and basic deletion processes. I created 3 articles and 11 drafts in the last one week and I have the NPP dashboard on my userpage (with "not a reviewer" note) for a while purely to monitor backlog while working on drafts, and I’m now looking to help on the review side as well. Hello! I'd like to request NPR rights. I've been actively contributing by editing articles, participating in AfDs as both a nominator and a voter, and assisting new users. I initially applied for the rights on a temporary basis so I could take part in the September 2025 backlog elimination drive. While I made a few mistakes early on, the experience helped me learn a great deal. Since then, I completed a trial run in October and another during the January–February backlog elimination drive to ensure I was fully prepared. Hi, I requested pagemover rights in 2023 and my request was denied due to lack of demonstrated need for the tools. Recently I've been doing more AFC (and to a lesser extent NPP) work, which prompted Kj cheetham to suggest I reapply for this permission so that I could draftify articles without leaving behind redirects. Hello! I am Phlogiston Enthusiast. I would like a moment of your time to request rollback rights. I believe that I could use rollback permissions to assist in anti-vandalism in the recent changes tab. There are multiple reasons for this. For one, it would streamline reverts on articles that need them, and be a useful tool against vandalism. This is because if a user is making edits of a vandalistic nature, they are likely to have made multiple. Rollback would assist with these issues and prevent long and drawn-out revert wars by vandals. Second, I believe that I meet the qualifications for the role. I possess experience patrolling the recent changes section, and have reverted many vandalous edits. If need be, I can attempt to provide a comprehensive list of the articles on which I have combatted vandalism. Finally, I understand that it looks bad to have had two arguments over vandalism-related subjects in the past. However, I would argue that this is almost the opposite, as having a clean record with no mistakes would mean that I had no mistakes to learn from, and as well I have apologized to all parties involved in both. In summary, I believe that I should possess rollback rights as to better combat vandalism, and if need be there can be elaboration. If not, I completely understand. Ammending: this was written roughly a month ago. I was told that I would need one month's experience more before I should re-apply. I have since aqquired more than this. I have been the cause for scores of blocks and have better since de-vandalized the Wiki. Following my embarrasing mishap recently reguarding confusion over the tool, I have better researched it and now believe I would be more fit to utilize this. I am a frequent recent changes patroller, and a rollbacker. I have met the minimum requirements of 6 months of editing and over 300 enwiki edits. I do anti-vandalism work through patrolling recent changes. I believe that having the TAIV permission would help me to identify and deal with instances of vandalism from one user across multiple temporary accounts. I recognise the additional responsibility from this permission and I would only use it where necessary, primarily to investigate and counter vandalism.
