This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to China. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|China|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to China. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Asia.

There are no decent sources for this that I saw, certainly no reliable/acceptable ones, and none are included in the article, which is just a bunch of OR. Drmies (talk) 04:58, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Martial arts and China. WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 05:28, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- I checked under the purported Chinese name. The Chinese book of C# programming, using a martial arts computer game as an example, that turned up early in the results was not a source. But it was in amongst page after page of books with scantily clad manga figures on the covers that were definitely not sources. I don't know what you have stumbled upon, Drmies, but the books results tell me that it is fantasy and not reality. Yes, I bloody well am judging said books by their covers.
Checking the article talk page I see that people have challenged this for being video game manual fantasy since 2006. Checking the edit history I see that it has been variously sourced to Everything2, and exemplifed by counterfactuals such as the Kill Bill movie series and — Yes. — by anime. The zh:流星錘] article has just two discoverable sources: ISBN 7500060874 I have no access to, although from the citation in that article it seems that it is as suspect a source as the only source cited in this article back in its 2005 incarnation, and ISBN 9789866712210 is explicitly a book of fantasy weapons from a Taiwanese publisher of fantasy books.
So it looks like Wikipedia has been promoting fantasy as fact for 20 years, again.
Uncle G (talk) 09:52, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- To add to this: I checked out the images. One is a picture created by a user who appears to be as historical arms enthusiast. The others stem from Flickr, where a private collector named Gary Todd has uploaded images of his collection.
- Considering that Todd apparently owns a whole pile of these weapons, you'd think we would have at least one image from a museum collection and/or verified by a historian.
- Now there are apparently real historical illustrations of this weapon: https://theravenswoodacademy.com/new-page-69
- Not that that by itself would be sufficient for an article. Cortador (talk) 11:20, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- Anyway, delete unless credible sourcing can be shown. Cortador (talk) 03:47, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

This source has been linked since the day the article was created in 2005. The article notes: "The meteor hammer is derived from a kind of hunting weapon of remote times. It consists of either a five-metre-long rope with one hammer at one end, or a two-metre-long rope with one hammer at each end. The hammer is made of bronze and is as big as a duck's egg. A skilful performer can have the rope wrap around his/her neck, chest and back, shoulder and elbow, wrist, legs, feet or waist before unwrapping it to release the hammer with a powerful jerk of the body. In this way, the hammer shoots forth quickly like a meteor, making a deadly impact on the target."

The Legends, a collection of short stories, document that a Kunlun slave Mo Le killed vicious dogs with the meteor hammer for his master in the Tang dynasty. 122 Another similar type of these soft weapons in this period was the rope-dart, a sharp metal head tied to a rope."

Negative undersourced BLP. Most of the article text is a WP:COATRACK for negative undersourced BLP material about someone else. I prodded this but my prod was removed by User:A. B. who provided as evidence for notability a newspaper article stating in vague terms legal charges against the subject and another newspaper article with a very brief mention that he was sentenced, neither used as footnotes for anything. I don't think these provide WP:SIGCOV. His position as deputy mayor does not pass WP:NPOL and the conviction does not have the evidence of lasting interest needed for WP:PERP. —David Eppstein (talk) 19:17, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

- Comment: In response to David’s comments:
- I added 3, not 2, refs including a NY Times front page article
- News and newspaper searches turned up more out there.
- The South China Morning Post article is exclusively about Lan Fu’s troubles
- When searching for refs, add
Xiamen mayor
to filter out other people with that name. - This was my edit summary when removing the PROD:
” remove PROD. Notable but the tagged concern remains: this may be more about the _alleged_ kidnapping of his son, Lan Meng, by Chinese authorities in Australia as a hostage for Lan Fu's return. We don't have a Lan Meng article”
- This article is likely not a BLP since all the refs said LAN Fu was sentenced to death 2 decades ago as I noted in another edit summary. (There’s no lingering on Chinese death rows).
- WP:NPOL: Xiamen has over 5 million inhabitants; it’s larger than every North American city except NY and larger than any city in the EU.
- Re not adding footnotes to go with the refs: I’d already spent 60+ minutes doing the WP:BEFORE and I was late for lunch
- I tagged the article with an inline template and moved on.
- I encourage others to look at the existing refs and what else is out there. —A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 20:34, 11 April 2025 (UTC)
- I don't know if it's best to cover this as a biography article, but the scandal itself and his involvement is covered in several books [1] [2] [3] for just a few, there are many more. He was a very major player in this scandal and he was a public figure that was convicted so at the very least his name should redirect somewhere. Xiamen is a city of 5 million so there's also probably coverage of him as a mayor in Chinese. PARAKANYAA (talk) 21:47, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

- Redirect: or merge to an article about the corruption scandal. The NY Times article is about a bigger scandal, Fu is mentioned briefly, archive here [4]. The SCMP source is probably better [5] (archived copy), but they both deal more with the scandal than about the individual. I suppose Fu could be notable, but there is a decent amount of sourcing about the corruption trial/event (even the books cited a few comments above mention more about the event than about this person, who is only mentioned). Oaktree b (talk) 02:26, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Oaktree b Well, you say redirect, but we don't have any article to redirect to. PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:19, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- There's likely sourcing in Mandarin, the scandals were probably the only thing dramatic enough to make it to Anglophone printing. PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:20, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- We'd have to create the article I suppose. We have at least enough for a stub. Oaktree b (talk) 03:40, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- I suggest we keep this until we have a stub to merge it with. —A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 04:22, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

A man dies suddenly of a heart attack on his birthday, just hours after his wife realises she is pregnant. She later discovers that he had an illegitimate son with an ex-lover, who abandons the kid to marry another man (Timeless Gift). To be fair, there are enough twists and turns in the plots to keep you mildly entertained. Sadly, all the efforts of the scriptwriters go down the drain, no thanks to the never-ending histrionics. The result? Just imagine the worst moments of Taiwanese Hokkien dramas and Korean tearjerkers rolled into one painful package."

CaDA has been producing brick sets for a few years now, but few have been officially licenced. This Mercedes-AMG One kit we’ve built has actually been officially licenced by Affalterbach and is brimming with details and clever touches. ... Because it is. This is a 1:8-scale set, comprising of 3295 pieces and is part of the CaDA Master series – largely equivalent to some of the most detailed and intricate Lego Technic sets on the market. ... CaDA is also fighting Lego on price, undercutting many 1:8-scale Lego Technic sets significantly as it hovers around the £200 mark; a Lamborghini Sian retails for around £390, as does a Lego Technic Ferrari Monza SP3. Add to the fact that the AMG One is powered, and CaDA makes a strong case for itself."

The article notes: "And so it was on Christmas morning, she found herself unwrapping her heart's desire - or at least a 1:24 scale model of it. For in typical dad-joke style, I had bought her a Suzuki Jimny from the not-especially well-known brand CaDA bricks (one of those 'compatible with Lego' blocko brands), which she would have to assemble herself and which, I helpfully suggested, she could then drive around her desk making 'vroom vroom' noises. Somehow my incredibly wellthought-out prank gift didn't seem to cheer her up, although she did manage an eye roll and weak smile of bemused disappointment. In her defence, she had just come off working a night shift and, as she was heading back in for another shift later that evening, her energy levels were pretty low, which might explain her lack of gratitude."

NewsBreak is not nearly notable enough for a Wikipedia page, they do not have enough articles/news information about them to even expand the page further than it is now. There is nothing SIGNIFICANT about this; per Wikipedia guidelines for Notability, to determine if a topic merits its own article, it requires significant coverage in reliable, independent sources that are not self-published or promotional. And so far, this article is WP:UNDUE, ONE Rueters article covers an entire paragraph. No notability. OhNoKaren (talk) 01:28, 4 April 2025 (UTC)

- Keep per the significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. The subject passes Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Basic criteria, which says:
People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.
- If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not usually sufficient to establish notability.

Zero in-depth sourcing from independent, reliable sources. Redirect was reverted with the rationale, "Bonaqua isn't a really known brand and it doesn't have major companies as sources. There are plenty similar pages with less in depth analysis and evidence. I believe Onel shouldn't just delete someone's entire page based of their own personal opinion. The facts are as accurate as they get, it's literally from Swire's own website. With this said, DO NOT DELETE THIS PAGE AGAIN." However, without in-depth sourcing, does not pass WP:GNG. - Keep. Bonaqua appears to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Independent and reliable sources, such as Retail Asia, Marketing Interactive, Macau Business, and Taiwan News, provide significant coverage of the brand, particularly its market leadership in Hong Kong (verified by Nielsen data) and its notable sustainability initiatives like the launch of label-less bottles and returnable glass bottles. The brand has also received industry awards for its sustainability efforts. While the current Wikipedia article relies heavily on primary sources, the existence of substantial independent coverage demonstrates that the topic is notable and verifiable. The article should be improved by incorporating these independent sources. --Xrimonciam (talk) 08:47, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

- Conditional keep, at worst draftify. The entry is false in that Bonaqua is sold in many other places than Hong Kong. For instance in Norway, where it is a long-lasting and ubiquitous water brand in segments such as natural mineral water and flavored non-carbonated water. Here is some coverage, mainly about how the production in Fyresdal was set up: [8] [9] [10]. The market shares are often covered, this regards Bonaqua's challenge towards the two market leaders, Ringnes' Imsdal and Hansa Borg's Olden (water) . [11] As a curiosity, here are two product tests from Dagens Næringsliv, in which Bonaqua scored 3 points out of 10, one point lower than tapwater. [12] [13]. It is bad that the article currently has these dreadful sources, something should be done in order to strengthen my keep stance. Geschichte (talk) 09:05, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Redirect to Coca Cola (or Swire if that is more appropriate). None of the sources in the article are independent, and I do not find independent sources.Draftify More sources have been found although none are extensive. For example, the Norwegian ones listed here are routine company news. The book notes on page 87: "I will begin with a discussion of the newer, and more familiar, of the two products, purified waters like BonAqua, turning then to natural mineral waters whose properties, stabilized in the nineteenth century, are largely continued under socialism by Borjomi. ... The qualities of BonAqua: One of the qualities that is central to all drinking water is purity, meaning first and foremost that water is wholesome and safe to drink. But of all the different forms of water that fit this description, only one relatively recent variety emerging in America in the 1990s — ‘purified’ bottled waters like BonAqua — is actually marketed in specifically these terms."
The book notes on page 92: "BonAqua, by contrast, is like most other product names in that it is a trademark, referring to a specific, non-geographically localized personalistic producer, a firm or undertaking (Schechter 1927, Davis 2008, Bently 2008). Geographical indications (Borjomi) and trademarks (BonAqua) do similar semiotic work ..."
The book notes on page 93: "By contrast, BonAqua is like many contemporary Western brand names in that it conjures up a vague almost Esperanto-like hint of descriptiveness, which might just be translated as ‘good water’ if there were any Romance language (including Esperanto) in which Bon Aqua meant ‘good water’, which there is not. By contrast, the Western version of the brand name, Dasani, is purely arbitrary, apparently chosen when consumer testing revealed that the name suggested ‘purity’ and ‘replenishment’. The point is that neither name is descriptive of any product qualities (therefore, not technically referentially misleading), but both are felt, in different ways, to be suggestive of some of the product qualities."

The book notes on page 448: "The green product investigated in this research is Bonaqua, a bottled water brand in Hong Kong. In response to the changing behaviours of Bonaqua’s consumers, the firm has set an example by launching a comprehensive green marketing campaign that includes a mode of repackaging that involves the reduction of plastic bottle waste and the rolling out of environmental advertisements to reinforce the firm’s green efforts and positioning in the market."
The book notes on pages 456–457: "This result implies Bonaqua must implement measures to improve green customer satisfaction as a means of enhancing green customer loyalty. ... The findings indicated that no significant positive relationship exists in the green product quality-loyalty link. For Bonaqua, this finding implies that customers who highly value green product quality may not necessarily decide to repurchase the brand’s products in the future. ... This research suggests that Bonaqua’s green corporate image is insufficient ensuring repeat brand patronage ... The findings imply that Bonaqua’s green customer satisfaction can be boosted via green trust. ... The potential lack of customer loyalty toward Bonaqua may be attributed to perceptions of greenwashing (Go Green Hong Kong, 2014)."

The article notes: "Hindustan Coca-Cola Bottling (HCCB), the bottling unit of Coca-Cola in India, is launching Bonaqua, a water brand from Coke’s global stable. Bonaqua in all probability will end up competing with Coke’s existing water brand Kinley. ... Coke has two international bottled waters: Dasani, which is sold predominantly in North and South America, and Bonaqua, available mainly in Europe. Dasani was first introduced in 1999. Bonaqua has been around since the late 1980s."
- I looked at each of these and although you found better sources than most, I still only barely see these as significant. I'm coming around to Geschichte's view that the article may be a keeper but it needs to be about the brand in all of the markets, not just Hong Kong. (The suggestion to make this BonAqua Hong Kong doesn't seem viable to me.) Also, this brand appears in the List of Coca-Cola brands article, but not in the The Coca-Cola Company article itself. Some of the brands are named in that article and BonAqua might fit into one of its sections. So I'm leaning toward draftify as the article is critically incomplete. I fear that if we leave it as a stub that it'll come back to AfD in this same condition. Lamona (talk) 03:13, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- I agree that the article should cover the brand in all markets, not just Hong Kong, since there is extensive coverage about the brand's being sold in many places outside Hong Kong. Cunard (talk) 21:13, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect to List of Coca-Cola brands Not sufficient coverage for stand alone article. Ramos1990 (talk)

Not enough in-depth coverage to meet WP:GNG, and while a scholar search does show several works which are well cited, they are not in this person's field of study, so are most likely a different individual. Fails WP:NSCHOLAR. Onel5969 TT me 11:01, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
