FFD close question
Hi Explicit. Although I can somewhat understand your "no consensus" close with respect to Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2025 February 26#File:ThomasNelson-Williams.jpg, there was some related discussion regarding these files and some other similar files uploaded by this user at User talk:Wikiaddict8962#Disputed non-free use rationale for File:TClaudeNelson-Williams.jpeg. It seems as if these should at least be verified by VRT, but it's not clear whether the uploader is willing to do so. The uploader is concerned that VRT verification might violatie their privacy. FWIW, the files actually were tagged with {{npd}}
at first, but the uploader removed the tags. So, another user started the discussion about them at FFD. Are these, in your opinion, OK as licensed or do they need VRT verification? If it's a case of the latter, I'm not sure how to convince the uploader that VRT verification will not violate their privacy. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:22, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: To be honest, I think that this is a case which can't be resolved because the uploader is unwilling to reveal their identity even to the VRT team. Unless there's actual evidence to suggest the files are infringing on someone else's rights, the discussion just kind of hits a dead end. ✗plicit 06:48, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- I sort of feel the same way too. At the same time, though, I'm not sure we should be keeping files just because the uploader is unwilling to resolve things by verifying their copyright ownership. File:Tolbertfamily1913.jpg is another file uploaded by the same user as own work, but it almost certainly is no longer eligible for copyright protection per c:COM:Liberia. The two files discussed at FFD might actually be PD per c:COM:Sierra Leone or c:Template:PD-heirs, but the uploader never really responded to those queries. FWIW, there are other files with similar issues uploaded by this user; for example, File:RAHenries.jpg, File:RomeoAHorton.jpg, File:JohnLCooper.jpg, File:ArthurStuart.jpg, File:WilliePriddy.jpg, File:Americo-Liberians.jpg and File:Tubmanfamily1917.jpg. The claims of "own work" and CC licensing seem questionable at best, but some probably can be converted to non-free and some might even be PD for some reason if more information was known about their provenance. These too should probably be moved to Commons if they're OK to keep, right? Would it be in appropriate to tag these for a move to Commons? -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:01, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Deleted page - Sardar_Ridha_Singh
Hello, I had added this page and I see it's deleted. I understand that there was a lack of citations for the information. Somehow, I've not been getting alerts for subscribed page changes from Wikipedia. Maybe landing in my spam folder... I request you to reinstate the page and I will add some news citations to comply with Wikipedia requirements. Thanks! Here's the link for the deleted page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sardar_Ridha_Singh&action=edit&redlink=1

Request : Undeletion of Apna Jobs
I am reaching out regarding the deletion of the article Apna Jobs, which was removed following an Articles for Deletion (AfD) discussion concluding that it did not meet WP:NCORP and contained promotional content.
I respectfully request a reconsideration of this decision, or if possible, a temporary user-space restoration so that I can improve the article to better align with notability guidelines.
If permitted, I would like to address the concerns raised in the AfD discussion by revising the article to meet Wikipedia's verifiability and neutrality standards. Please let me know if there is a possibility of restoring the content in my user sandbox for further improvements before reconsidering its status in the main namespace.
Looking forward to your guidance on the best way to proceed.

File:Intertropolis & Routeville.png
Hi Explicit. Could you take a look at File:Intertropolis & Routeville.png because looks identical to File:Intertropolis & Routeville logo.png. The Commons file most likely is PD per c:COM:CB#Road signs since most US interstate markers/shields seem to be {{PD-USGov}}
of some type. I'm really not sure why the uploader reuploaded the Commons file locally, but I'm also not sure what they're doing at User:LineBoyd/Sandbox/Intertropolis & Routeville (which seems to be a problem per U5). Anyway, the local file has been tagged for speedy deletion per WP:F4, but I'm not sure whether it's worth keeping per F8 even if a license is added to it. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:50, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Hi, I've deleted that user subpage in accordance with U5, and the Commons file in accordance with F10. The local file will likely end up in the abyss a week from now. ✗plicit 11:37, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Comstock's Magazine. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Insanityclown1 (talk) 19:47, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

Reinstatement of MapJack
Hi Explicit, I saw that you deleted the page "MapJack" on 23 March 2025 after an expired PROD (concern: Fails WP:NSOFT). At that point the website had been offline for several years, so I understand the reason. However, I just created a new version of it, so it is online again. Could you please reinstate that page again? Thanks! Björn Morén, co-founder of MapJack.

Article
New user The Intersider started a page with an arbitrary title, L Franchise (film series). The makers has not said anywhere that the planned trilogy's title is "L". It is actually unnamed. Besides, title is also in incorrect format - the disambiguation "franchise" is followed by another disambiguation "film series". Secondly, L Franchise is used as a noun, taken from nowhere. Additionally, media franchise and series are technically different, this one only contain films, franchise will have films, TV series, books, merchandise etc. 2409:4073:2E81:F8BA:7C19:883A:1911:82AF (talk) 14:00, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I am interested in seeing the history of Tom Patterson (cartographer) with the intent of cleaning up the page with information referenced from news and journal articles. Would you mind undeleting the page into the draft namespace? Thanks! QuincyMorgan (talk) 21:14, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

FC Iberia 2010
Hello, I'm writing to you regarding FC Iberia 2010 that has been soft deleted based on a single vote. I'm wondering whether you could restore the page, which would enable me to add two more sections, the list of players and notable players. Currently, it is the only 4th division club with no Wikipedia page. Thanks. Gorgin18 (talk) 06:19, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Undeletion for "Wiesław Lewicki (Normal Country)"
Hello! I was asked to write to you from my undelete request here. From the time since the article was deleted for not meeting notability guidelines, Wiesław Lewicki acquired the required 100,000 signatures to become an official candidate for the 2025 Polish presidential election, awaiting certification. So he will undoubtably be written about in the news during campaign season, and while the article might still not meet notability guidelines in the state it was in, it will certainly be possibly to greatly improve it with the incoming news, and the basic biographical information that was there is generally useful as a foundation. Thanks! Polish kurd (talk) 20:25, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Augie K Fabela
Hi, I'm responding to your deletion of my page request. Appreciate you taking the time.
Augie K Fabela is a prominent American public figure, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nasdaq-listed VEON (previously Vimpelcom) and a serial entrepreneur and founder of multiple startupts in the technology sector. He is also a dedicated philanthropist and founder of the Fabela Family Foundation, as well as the author of two books, including a #1 Amazon bestseller. He is referred to briefly in the VEON entry, but it would be beneficial for Wikipedia readers to have his complete biography on the record. We are committed to only contributing factual information and Wiki-approved citations, and will do so with consensus from other Wikipedia editors. VEON.MNS (talk) 08:00, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Deletion of City University of Mogadishu
I noticed that you G8 deleted City University of Mogadishu while closing the AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guul University. The two names are distinct universities. The City University page was hijacked and moved. The recent histmerge should have left City University as an article, not a redirect. Also City University was previously kept Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/City University of Mogadishu, although it might not survive current consensus. In short, City University should not have been in the scope of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guul University. • Gene93k (talk) 14:36, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Ugh, the "delete" close it was only four days after the requested relist -- I was expecting I'd have a week, and was planning on looking into it tomorrow. At the very least, it should be redirected with the history preserved for when coverage eventually surfaces. BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:38, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
- @BeanieFan11: Per WP:RELIST, A relisted discussion may be closed once consensus is determined, without necessarily waiting for another seven days. There was a pretty clear consensus to delete here. There was no suggestion to redirect the page in the discussion, so that's not an WP:ATD I could have taken, especially when the subject is listed in at least nine different competitions from 1986–2003. ✗plicit 00:48, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
- Ugh, that's disappointing, given that I had an in-depth argument I was set to make tomorrow. Could it be restored to draftspace or something? I was in the process of contacting the Djibouti Post (the country's newspaper) to see if they knew anything about him, and I'm almost certain that coverage exists, so losing that page history would make things more difficult to return if its found. Please Have a Look
This is regarding the recently deleted article: Vastav AI. The creator of the previous page was also found to be a WP:Socks that were making edits to this page. In lieu of that, the page has been recreated by [3] who has barely contributed to anything apart from his article. The other user involved was recently banned: [4] and [5]. I feel that these are a bunch of meat puppets and paid editors, as the current wiki article does clearly do read like an advert as well. I have nominated the page VastavX AI for speedy deletion. Johnny Contardo page
Hello. The page for Johnny Contardo was restored in February 2025, but is gone again. When I search for it, it says the page does not exist. He is still an active musician, with many fans worldwide. Talk:Roosevelt dictatorship
I'm not sure what the rush was to delete Talk:Roosevelt dictatorship. Someone asked a question in good faith there on the fate of the deleted page. Even if you want to delete the talk page, you should at the bare minimum copy & paste the conversation to that user's talk page so they can see my response. I don't recall the name of the account but you should be able to see it in the history, but I don't see evidence of you doing such a thing in your recent contribs - apologies if I just missed it. SnowFire (talk) 01:57, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- I see you've been editing since. This is really not a hard request to process - if you've already done so (I can't easily check given the volume of your edits + me not remembering the account's name precisely), please verify so. Should be just view history of deleted page -> move content to the user's talk page with my reply.
- For the general case, WP:BITE is a core guideline. If an infrequent editor asks a legitimate question in the wrong spot, the polite thing to do is just move it elsewhere - deleting it with no record it ever was made is pointlessly rude and drives away new contributors. I hope you do not casually delete all such talk pages without bothering to move the content for when said content isn't spam - something to consider for the future. SnowFire (talk) 02:20, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- @SnowFire: I have moved the discussion to Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Roosevelt dictatorship. ✗plicit 03:30, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you.
- That said, I notice you have not replied on the general case. This particular case was weird because I had that page on my watchlist still, so there was a regular editor to "notice". But most cases like this won't have that - it'll be just a newbie shooting in the darkness in the wrong spot. In those cases, it needs to be the admin doing the right thing, even when no one else sees it. Do you agree or disagree that this kind of courtesy takes 15 seconds and is a good idea before deleting such pages, if this were to happen again but with no one else noticing? SnowFire (talk) 04:29, 14 April 2025 (UTC)

File:Logo of the Wagner Group.svg "violates free-use policy"?
So, why does it violate free-use policy? I got it restored via an undeletion request and there was no issue then. NorthTension (talk) 11:39, 4 April 2025 (UTC)
- @NorthTension: Please see WP:NFC#cite_note-4: The NFCI#2 allowance for logos only applies to the use of the logo on the infobox or lede for the stand-alone article about the entity, and should reflect its most current logo. The use of historical logos for an entity is not allowed, unless the historical logo itself is described in the context of critical commentary about that historical logo. ✗plicit 14:51, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- So since it's still in use, albeit unofficially, can I put it in the infobox then if I'm reading your post correctly? NorthTension (talk) 14:53, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- @NorthTension: Not quite sure what you mean by "unofficially", but the contextual significance criterion of policy only allows the use of one non-free item. The article's infobox should use a singular official, main logo. ✗plicit 14:57, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- The emblem/patch is still very frequently used despite the one at the top of the infobox being the official legal symbol of Wagner ever since they became part of the Armed Forces. I can provide sources if needed showing the still constant usage of the skull emblem as it's basically their most famous trademark.
- Personally I feel like that logo should be exempt from copyright because of it like all other Russian military emblems, but I don't exactly know where to argue that.
- Also, if removing the flag version is a requirement to keep the skull emblem on the page then I'd be fine with that, it's literally a seal on a bedsheet. NorthTension (talk) 15:05, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Explicit sorry to bug again but is it cool if I could get a follow-up for this? NorthTension (talk) 17:28, 12 April 2025 (UTC)
- @NorthTension: I have nothing more to add, as I have already explained the restrictions enforced by policy. ✗plicit 03:30, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- So....can we remove the flag that has the logo you deleted on it in exchange for putting that logo back on the page? It's still very explicitly in use even though it's not the official logo anymore. NorthTension (talk) 15:40, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- @NorthTension: As I stated above, "policy only allows the use of one non-free item". If the other logo is preferred to the current one, then changing it is an editorial decision. ✗plicit 00:35, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I saw that you deleted this file under WP:F7. However, a discussion was recently had with no consensus to remove the fair use image. In fact, 3/4 of the comments agreed that a fair use image should be included in the page. Additionally, there is currently a second discussion ongoing about the use of a fair use file in the page. I think that speedily-deleting the file was premature and also circumvents the consensus-gaining process. I would like to request that the file be restored and re-added until a consensus is reached. Thanks, ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 00:19, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Sarah Yarkin
Hello. Perhaps due to ignorance, I didn't take the corrective action. I requested the removal of the Sarah Yarkin page because its content redirects to another page completely unrelated to the page's content. Sarah Yarkin is an actress, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022 film) this is a film she starred in. It doesn't make much sense to redirect to one of her films. It's pointless. I hope I've explained myself well; my English is still very limited. Best regards :) 83.38.176.11 (talk) 05:40, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

This article was deleted due to PROD expiring today. However shortly after you deleted it was recreated by the original article creator (who suddenly decided to be active all of a sudden). Although the content is slightly changed compared to what's shown in the archives, there is still a lack of independent in-depth sources to meet notability. Is this article eligible for CSD or we will need to go to AFD on this?

Concerns about the Commons Sub-Zero image
Hi, hoping you're well. I saw today you replaced the infobox image for Sub-Zero with a screencapture from the character trailer. While I understand the video itself was released as free-use under a YouTube license, I do have some concerns about using it in this manner as the character in question is viable, as the character itself is trademarked and copyrighted separately; even the image on commons presents this warning in its file information. There's also some consensus that images that use official representations of copyrighted characters in them may be questionable despite the original image being free, as in the case of city photos that illustrate a character in advertising.
On a more practical level, while artwork for the MK series is...well...inconsistent to say the least, an argument can be made that the image is not the best representation of the character for the reader to understand who they are at a glance and the character's design; it shows too little of them. Kung Fu Man (talk) 03:59, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Kung Fu Man: I'm not sure how any of these points would justify a non-free image. ✗plicit 00:44, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
- Because simply put we're using an image from a trailer without confirmation the character's imagery was released for the purposes we're using it for, not to mention the layers of copyright protection regarding the character (both Netherealm and Warner Bros. hold a copyright in this case). At the very least better clarification from the horse's mouth may be a good idea to obtain, no?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:51, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Kung Fu Man: The video was uploaded by the official Mortal Kombat YouTube channel, it's pretty difficult to argue that they did not intend to freely release this particular video. Not all depictions of this character are free, but this one is. A similar situation arose at c:Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:NickRewind videos, which resulted in keeping all the media files. These are becoming more frequent over time, so music videos, video game trailers, film trailers, and more are being licensed under Creative Commons. Trademarks are a separate issue, which does not restrict us from using the content as the Creative Commons License specifies. ✗plicit 04:00, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

RfD closure of a redirect with history
Hi! I recently got the mop and am attempting to use it at RfD. I've got a couple questions about redirects with history, and am bugging you because you're one of the more active closers there, feel free to redirect me elsewhere. (For reference, I am specifically looking at Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2025_April_16#Ruby-gnome2).
First, do we need to keep something with substantive history when that history isn't prserved anywhere in mainspace? (in this case, a merge and then all content deleted at the target page after the merge). Second, if we do, what's the recommended way to do that? Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Administrator instructions suggests that you should archive it into a talk namespace and then link on the old target's talk page, but I don't think I've ever seen this done. A histmerge seems contraindicated by WP:PVER, but was suggested elsewhere. Do we just need to keep the redirect, or at least relist while pointing out the history? Rusalkii (talk) 03:22, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Rusalkii: Hi, the content was removed as a result of this edit just eight days after it was merged, and seemingly not added back since. A redirect with a page history must be retained for attribution purposes only if the content exists there, which it doesn't anymore. In this particular case, I think you are free to go for either close the discussion or relist it if feel that the history is worth mentioning and may have been overlooked. ✗plicit 04:00, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! Assuming for the hypothetical that it wasn't delete, though, what would you do here here? Rusalkii (talk) 04:04, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Rusalkii: If the assumption is that the merged material is still at the target, I would instead !vote and ping the prior participants, as they may not be aware of the circumstances. I think Jay does that more often than other admins who work at RFD. ✗plicit 04:47, 24 April 2025 (UTC)

So you don't agree about deleting many pages redirected to Bali United F.C. by AldiBh?? Have you looked at his contributions? He made that many pages that already separating Putra Samarinda and Bali United history? Wira rhea (talk) 02:26, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Wira rhea: I declined the deletion of these redirects because they did not meet any of the speedy deletion criterion. The relevant place to discuss these redirects is WP:RFD. However, this is currently an active sockpuppet investigation regarding the account at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dwinug, so you may want to wait it out to not put in any unnecessary effort. If the user is blocked as a result, the pages they created will be deleted in accordance with WP:CSD#G5. ✗plicit 05:37, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Explicit: Okay then, I'll wait for the conclusion of the sockpuppet investigation. Thanks. Wira rhea (talk) 07:22, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, as I know, the account was indeed sockpuppet. I already placed a tag for delete (db-r2) and I gave the reason, can you please check? TIA Wira rhea (talk) 21:23, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Wira rhea: It seems that most of their creations have since been deleted. Are there any remaining pages you have concerns about? ✗plicit 00:44, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
- No, I think that'll be all. Thank you brother. Wira rhea (talk) 11:44, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
