Invalid fair use rationale. Although the public domain image of Betsy Arakawa dates from 1971, when she was 11, she is actually identifiable and was actually locally known in Hawaii as a pianist, which is evident by reading some newspapers from the time. Her appearance is not very different, just older (duh). As a result, this copyrighted image is easily replaceable. It also weirdly pictures her with her husband, when the biography is not about him but her. It makes a favor to those arguments at the AFD claiming her notability was dubious as she was "only known" for her death and for being the spouse of Hackman. Comment - I do think it is odd to only have a photo of her as an 11-year-old, so I think it probably makes sense to have a fair use image of her as an adult, although I don't think it necessarily matters which image and I have no objections to replacing the one with Hackman in it. Couldn't the image be cropped to just her face, so as not to show her husband? It seems worth having an image of someone as an adult rather than as an 11-year-old to me. Mrfoogles (talk) 16:57, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The image of her as a child does not fulfill the same purpose as one of her as an adult, so the fair-use rationale for an adult image is justified. I also recommend cropping the current image so it shows only her, or finding another image that shows only her. — Goszei (talk) 22:04, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I was the one that readded the image, for disclosure; keep, a comparable example is Tupac Shakur, where we had a fair use image until a PD one was found recently despite there being a PD yearbook image of him.
