Let's Talk continues
- Wikimedia Futures Lab: Apply before Sep 4 to join The Wikimedia Futures Lab, the in-person convening hosted on January 30 – February 1, 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany with participants from affiliates, contributors and external experts, to learn more about global trends and discuss potential movement-wide responses.
- Wikimania 2026: The theme and date for Wikimania 2026 have been decided: Liberté, Équité, Fiabilité (Freedom, Equity, Reliability). This edition will take place in Paris, from July 21 to July 25, 2026.

- Tech News: Some of the latest updates from Tech News week 34 and 35: An A/B test comparing two versions of the desktop donate link launched on testwiki and English Wikipedia for 0.1% of logged out users on the desktop site. The experiment will run for three weeks, ending on 12 September; Administrators can now access the Special:BlockedExternalDomains page from the Special:CommunityConfiguration list page. This makes it easier to find.
- Spread Wikilove, thank comments: A new improvement was added to the "Discussion tools" Beta feature; it is now possible to thank a user for their comment. This new feature is released for a 3-months long test.
- Community Wishlist: Template authors can now use additional CSS properties, since the CSS sanitizer used by TemplateStyles was updated. These improvements are a Community Wishlist wish.
- Wikipedia Mobile Apps: The Android app team has launched a new experiment in Italy that lets logged-out readers of Italian and English Wikipedia set their own donation reminders based on how often they read. This new approach responds to feedback from donors who say their motivation to give is tied to their reading habits. Instead of one-size-fits-all banners, readers can now choose reminders that fit their own usage, all while keeping their privacy intact.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Articles created or improved during the United States 20,000 Challenge
[edit] Resolved
 Resolved| Extended content |
|---|
| A tag has been placed on Category:Articles created or improved during the United States 20,000 Challenge indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 22:10, 15 September 2025 (UTC) |
- @Liz Seems this has been fixed. I assume has something to do with pages being renamed from 50,000 Challenge to 20,000 Challenge. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:51, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

The fact was ... that Jeffrey Epstein's contact list has been published three times, but the existence of a separate client list is a matter of controversy? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jeffrey Epstein client list. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Jeffrey Epstein client list), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Drag Race-related question
[edit]Hello again. Apologies for the random message. I have a RuPaul's Drag Race-related question. I am currently working on Gagged, an extended play by season seven winner Violet Chachki. It is currently available in my sandbox. I have already collected citations and started worked on the prose.
I have run into an issue with names. I was originally planning on using Violet Chachki and feminine pronouns throughout the article and have a note in the lead and the article about how this is reflective of this coverage for this EP. However, I want to start the article with a brief background of Violet Chachki, and I do not think that it would make sense to use the stage name here.
I am debating on switching to just using the stage name after this paragraph. I could see that being confusing though, although I would think that it would seem odd to use Paul Jason Dardo rather than Violet Chachki for these parts. The EP was recorded and promoted under this persona after all, so to me, it makes more sense to Violet Chachki. I am just not sure how to make this read smoothly and cohesively.
What would you recommend in this situation? I could just be way overthinking this (as I have a tendency to do), but I am just finding myself stuck for whatever reason. I would greatly appreciate any insight as you have worked with drag-related articles in the past, like with Cherry Valentine, and with drag music in particular, like with Drag Is Magic. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far! Aoba47 (talk) 23:43, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Aoba47 Hi, hope you're doing well! I would recommend using Violet Chachki throughout. My gut reaction is that the album article should focus on the album, not the artist. Drag Is Magic does not have much personal information about Nina West, and The Fame Monster does not go into detail about Lady Gaga's biography or mention "Stefani Germanotta". Perhaps there's a reason you think personal background and mention of Dardo is necessary for the album article, but I would think something more along the lines of this would be fine:
- "Violet Chachki started performing in drag at age 19. The name Violet was chosen based on Jennifer Tilly's character from the 1996 film Bound, and Chachki was taken from the Yiddish word tchotchkeand Dardo's love of collecting them. For Violet Chachki, DardoShe was primarily inspired by Bettie Page, a BDSM and pin-up model from the 1950s, and by sexual fetishism in general, feeling drawn to "the severity of it" and viewing it as an "extreme form of glamour and sexuality". She performed in nightclubs in Atlanta, learning from other drag queens and the Internet, and studied fashion design at Savannah College of Art and Design for a year. After auditioning for the sixth season of the reality competition television show RuPaul's Drag Race, Violet Chachki participated in and won the seventh season."

- "Violet Chachki started performing in drag at age 19.
- I hope this helps! I am more than happy to take another look at the article once you're done with your expansion, and of course you can always drop a note over at WikiProject Drag Race. --Another Believer (Talk) 00:24, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

Portland frogs are notable?
[edit]Hi, just have been coming across several instances where media note the appearance of frog (costumes) in Portland protests. Surely this is at least enough for note in Frogs in culture if not a separate article?
- How inflatable costumes ballooned at anti-Trump rallies due to a Portland protester's frog outfit Associated Press
- Frogs vs. feds: Portland turns protest performance into a court argument Politico
- Will frog costumes continue to multiply at Saturday’s ‘No Kings’ protests? The Oregonian
- Portland's protest frogs are dead serious about absurdity, salon.com
- Operation Inflation: How Portland’s ‘Antifa frog’ became a No Kings protest mascot, The Independent (UK)
Cheers ☆ Bri (talk) 17:47, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Bri I worked to expand the Operation Inflation section, but I was hoping some other editors might think a fork is helpful since the effort expands outside Portland. I am quite surprised by the limited interest in writing about this topic. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:52, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
