Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Architecture
![]() | Points of interest related to Architecture on Wikipedia: Outline – History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Cleanup – Stubs – Assessment |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public spaces. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Architecture|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Architecture, buildings, construction, city planning and public spaces. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Current article sourced only to UGC. I have not been able to find any other sources in Turkish about this building (though I have turned up sources on mosques with the same name in other cities). Does not appear to be notable. Mccapra (talk) 19:15, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

The article is short, sourced only from the subject's website, and has at times been edited to read as a website for the church. I don't believe the article establishes notoriety (e.g., 50 members, lacking secondary sources). Mad Jim Bey talk 22:43, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Plenty of non-independent press releases about events, food offerings, and routine management changes. Listed briefly in the hotel directory sections of travel guides.
No significant coverage in independent, reliable, selective sources of the history or architecture of the building. Occasional coverage of the financials of the public company that owns it (Unique Hotel and Resorts, a subsidiary of Unique Group, which is a possible redirect target).
The only non-routine coverage relates to a ruling-party minor functionary accused of running an escort service out of the hotel. When the story broke in 2020, there was much press speculation along the "how could the hotel not have known" lines, but no employees were ever charged.[1][2] Does not meet WP:NBUILDING or WP:GNG. - I'm neutral, but I am seeing some discussion in even scholarly journals, though the first few hits are from students who were able to do research through internships provided by the hotel for business schools. Most of the results are about events at the hotel. Typically five-star hotels in countries without a lot of five-star hotels are generally notable. I'm not !voting keep because I haven't seen any clearly non-routine sources in English, but I won't be surprised if they exist. SportingFlyer T·C 17:08, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

- Keep per the significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. Wikipedia:Notability (geographic features)#Engineered constructs says:
Buildings, including private residences, transportation facilities and commercial developments, may be notable as a result of their historic, social, economic, or architectural importance, but they require significant in-depth coverage by reliable, third-party sources to establish notability.

The 24-storey hotel is owned by Unique Hotel and Resorts Limited with businessman Mohd Noor Ali as the managing director.
From Google Translate: "The Westin Hotel authorities have been occupying a part of the sidewalk for a long time and have arranged for car parking. As a result, pedestrian movement is being affected. Ramps have been built by occupying the sidewalk for cars to get on and off. Cars of guests coming to this five-star hotel in Dhaka's Gulshan go from the hotel's parking area to the main gate through that ramp. The movement of vehicles on the sidewalk in this way is being hampered. As a result, the sidewalk section of that road has now been occupied by the hotel. As a result, pedestrian movement has been restricted. Although local pedestrians have complained about the issue, there seems to be no solution to it."

Coupled with a variety-like the Pan Asian food restaurant, refreshing light bites and drink poolside spot and a 24-hour deli-there is also a specialty fine-dining Italian restaurant named Prego at the hotel. Prego is an Italian-only place and possibly the only one of its kind in Dhaka. True to its name, it serves authentic Italian cuisine at an open kitchen. ... Inside groups of foreign businessmen and guests recline in the trendy egg shaped chairs, sipping coffee and eating delicate pastries. - Delete The source assessment table is correct. Sources are either not independent or not significant. One (audubon.org) doesn't even mention the person. Might be a pretty good architect, but nothing in the article suggests this is the type of notable architect who is known for originating a significant new concept or anything else that would be in an encyclopedia. Claims like "has over four decades of experience in architecture and interior design" sound more like the top of a resume and would describe any architect in the world of a similar age. Asparagusstar (talk) 22:29, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
Comment: I won't !vote on this one, because I live in the smallest village on Earth, and we have two mutual LinkedIn connections, one who is the chair of a bar association of which I'm a member, and the other with whom I have 103 mutual connections. I will point out that everyone should carefully consider the source assessment table. Bearian (talk) 00:35, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Delete The sources in the article are exactly as the table shows. I did find some sources that could be used for specific facts about him that could be considered independent (award to his company, an interview) but nothing that would support notability. Lamona (talk) 04:49, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
