Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Turkey
![]() | Points of interest related to Turkey on Wikipedia: Outline – History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Cleanup – Stubs – Assessment – To-do |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Turkey. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Turkey|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Turkey. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Middle East.

[edit]- Ashitha Revolt of 1843 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

This article suffers from significant verifiability issues and relies heavily on sources that appear to be self-published, primary, or not considered reliable according to WP:RS. Many of the citations are to non-academic or potentially biased sources, and several are in Arabic or Turkish without clear indications of their academic standing or independent third-party verification. The article has persistent "citation needed" tags and "fan's point of view" warnings that have been present for a significant time (since at least May 2025). The narrative appears to be primarily drawn from sources that may lack the independence and rigor required for historical topics on Wikipedia. Given the contentious nature of historical events involving ethnic conflicts, a high standard of reliable sourcing is crucial, which this article currently fails to meet. Therefore, I propose deletion unless significant reliable, independent, secondary sources can be provided to establish its notability and ensure verifiability. Unable to be PROD'd because of inclusion in a mass nomination from 2021 which was withdrawn. GNG fail so far - no sigcov hits on Google. Tried searching the Cumhiyet archives also, unable to access those so there may be potential searching there, but from what I could access on my end, nothing. Causing deaths and being reported in the news do not confer notability, and high-casualty bus crashes are common. Fails WP:EVENT. Per WP:NOPAGE, this is better covered with two entries at List of traffic collisions (2000–present) or separately at articles for the locations of the crashes. - Keep per first discussion. If not then merge with List of traffic collisions (2000–present). Moondragon21 (talk) 17:24, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
