Leech article

Hello. Do you plan on getting that leech article to FA? We could use more of them. LittleJerry (talk) 00:50, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

Ha ha, maybe one day. I'll focus on GA for now, since it'll be my first if it passes. My "secret" goal was actually to make Macrobdella a good topic, but that might actually be more work than an FA. Thanks for the encouragement, though. Cremastra (uc) 00:52, 3 January 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject AI Cleanup/AI images in non-AI contexts

Thanks for helping to bring this up to date! The page is trying to keep track of for what reasons, if any, that they were kept in or removed from articles, I assume to give some grist to any future policy discussions on the subject, so it'd be good to have a few words recorded on why each image was considered unsuitable. Hi, thank you for your contributions. I note your recent undo of the dabpage at Left brain.

I had originally done this as a straight hatnote[1], but was reverted.

Keeping the primary redirect and creating Left brain (disambiguation) doesn't work, as it becomes a case of WP:ONEOTHER.

Left brain/Left Brain are definitely ambiguous and this needs to be addressed somehow. How do you propose we do so? 162 etc. (talk) 16:55, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

You're right about WP:ONEOTHER, I'd forgotten about that.
The hatnote seems like the right approach given that there is scope for confusion here. @Opolito: you removed the hatnote, can you clarify why you think it's a problem? Thanks, Cremastra (uc) 21:05, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
The musician Left Brain isn't notable - the previous page about them was deleted because of that. The discography page clearly isn't notable either and will be deleted shortly. Opolito (talk) 21:54, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

Clean-up

Hi - very much appreciate the offer to work on this. I've done a table here, User:KJP1/sandbox10-DoB. It's basically the CCI approach:

  • Review the article
  • Take any remedial action - redraft/re-source/delete content/merge/AfD etc.
  • Note the decision in the final column - just over-write any existing wikicode.
  • Record any wider issues, questions/learning points for DoB at the top.

Rupples and I have tried a few for size, and it seems to work, but completely open to any suggestions for improvement. The more difficult issue is how to effectively involve DoB. That's of course essential, but may prove harder to achieve. Again, any suggestions welcome. KJP1 (talk) 16:53, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

Looks good, I've gotten started. Cremastra (uc) 18:05, 18 January 2025 (UTC)

RfD Closure

Hey @Cremastra, could you possibly relist your closure at Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2025_January_11#BlSOD? The two keep votes argue that the term is used in sources, but the sources listed by Bugghost exclusively use BlSoD (another redirect which seems appropriate). The main issue of my RfD (this particular capitalization is not used and therefore should be deleted) does not have any arguments against. Thanks! ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:33, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

@Bunnypranav Noting that I have seen this and will respond in detail presently... I have a GAN to work on.
I do not think that capitalisation is a defining issue here and there was consensus that the redirect was appropriate. To me, that consensus implies that the capitalisation is not a defining feature of the redirect and that "BlSOD" is satisfactorily equivalent to "BlSoD". In any case, if BugGhost's sources didn't satisfy your concerns, a ten-second search yields some more [2] [3] [4]. Cremastra (talk) 21:13, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
To elaborate, I'm willing to withdraw my closure and relist, but I'll need confirmation and a bit of further evidence from you before proceeding in that direction. As it stands, I'm happy with the close I made. Cremastra (talk) 20:46, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the links you gave. My search engine for some reason just showed Blood, even with the "BlSOD" search modifiers (whole reason I did an RfD instead of just patrolling it). I do not have any wishes to relist ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:03, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
Okay, cheers. Cremastra (talk) 13:16, 22 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello! as per [5] I am informing you that I have started editing Asia with the intent to reach GA. It is my first thrust into the content assessment system so wish me luck. Relm (talk) 00:24, 25 January 2025 (UTC)

@RelmC I do wish you luck, but also, less appealingly, caution. GAs are difficult – I'll note that my first four nominations failed – and they're even harder for broad articles like Asia. I'm sure you'll succeed, but take it slowly and don't be disspirited if your first nomination fails. Cremastra (talk) 22:05, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks! I will keep that in mind. Relm (talk) 23:57, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

Denali - 1 week of RM discussion?

Boy that was a quick close, especially with it being so active even today. I've seen discussions opened over a month before they are closed. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:48, 1 February 2025 (UTC)

Ideally things shouldn't be relisted. Often relisting is done because there's less participation and more discussion is needed. Here there was a positive surfeit of participation, so a relist wouldn't help matters, I think. Cremastra (talk) 21:38, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
This close was poorly-thought out, please undo this, let the discussion run its course. 1 week to declare a weak "no consensus" is absurd. Zaathras (talk) 22:00, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
@Zaathras I'm happy to reconsider my closure, but I don't think it was too early. WP:RMCI tells us: Relisting is an option when a discussion cannot otherwise be closed, usually due to lack of consensus. Editors are under no obligation to wait to close a move request after it is relisted. Once a move request has been open for the full seven days, it may be closed at any time by an uninvolved editor. Cremastra (talk) 22:04, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
I also don't think that relisting it would've changed the outcome since the same points are getting made over and over again since about day 2 - rather, it would've just prolonged the agony of that discussion. I probably would've closed it as not moved rather than no consensus, but the end result is the same. Turnagra (talk) 00:04, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

I'm having trouble intuitively understanding "AIB". As AI is already an acronym, "AIB" reads as a full "AI Ban", which for all its merits is a broader proposal than one focused just on images. Do you have thoughts on this, before it embeds? CMD (talk) 16:45, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

Where the Quote Was

You reverted my addition of the Gregory Maguire tribute from Maurice Sendak. With respect, I think that was a mistake. Perhaps the quote was overly long (I do have a tendency to do add overly long quotes) but Maguire is one of many authors mentored by Sendak, and authored an appreciation of him (Making Mischief), so I think it's valuable. Plus the article it's excerpted from is worth reading (Maurice Sendak, King of All Wild Things, CNN.)

I propose we condense the quote rather than removing it. Here's the heart of the matter: "Children are full humans, compromised only by their lack of vocabulary and practice in reporting how they live. But they live as fully as Sendak himself lived right up to his last months and weeks and hours." That gets to the heart of why Sendak matters. And, maybe, "meanwhile, as he passes away, some more sentimental scrap of me (that he would have scorned) hopes he is settling down to some nice bowl of chicken soup with rice with Emily Dickinson or Herman Melville. Though they have been impatient to meet him in person for a very long time, no doubt they’ll greet him as a fellow king.

By now, Sendak is finding his dinner waiting for him.

And it is still hot."

Maxillopoda

Hi Cremastra, In your comments regarding your reinstatement of the Maxillopoda article, you mentioned that it should be retained because articles on other non-valid taxa also exist (WP:OTHER). However, in general we are trying to eliminate such articles on non-valid taxa across the Tree of Life projects.

The 2022 changes of Maxillopoda to a redirect were part of a larger clean up where older (and now unaccepted) taxonomy was deleted and the former taxon information included in a taxonomically accepted related article. The status of the Maxillopoda article and its information was previously discussed on WikiProject Arthropods (here and here).

If information on a disused taxon is still relevant to the encyclopedia it should instead be presented as a subtopic of an accepted taxon. 'Cheers, Loopy30 (talk) 23:52, 22 April 2025 (UTC)

Okay, thank you for the explanation.
I think we'll have to have {{maxillopoda-stub}} deleted in that case. Cremastra talk 00:19, 23 April 2025 (UTC)

Crinochaeta template

Absence of |extinct= has no impact on the functioning of a taxonomy template. I routinely remove it for extant taxa. I guess what happened it that I saved Template:Taxonomy/Crinocheta before I created the parent taxonomy template. Usually if do that, I go back and make a null edit to the child template once I've created the parent, which fixes things. I guess I failed to do that in this case, but I'm really surprised the problem persisted for so long. The system usually finds the once missing parent template on it's own, and my impression was that it does so fairly quickly (like, less than an hour).

On the other end of things, if a chain of taxonomy templates is created in quick succession a child template may fail to pick up a parent template that was just created. The time frame on that being a possible problem is very short; maybe a couple seconds at most. But if the child is saved within that time frame, it can take awhile for the problem to resolve if nobody makes a subsequent edit (but again, "awhile" in that scenario should be the same as if the child was saved before the parent; I'd expect it to work out on it's own within an hour).

How did you notice the problem? Were you checking an error tracking category for taxonomy templates, or do you notice a woodlouse article with a broken taxobox? Plantdrew (talk) 01:12, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

I see. I thought that maybe the extinct parameter was mandatory, since the documentation implied it should only be left blank. I noticed several woodlouse articles with broken taxoboxes. Cremastra talk 12:25, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Question from Bulldogparkerfan (14:51, 30 April 2025)

How do I create a Wikipedia page for someone that should have one but doesn't? --Bulldogparkerfan (talk) 14:51, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

@Bulldogparkerfan: this is a common question for new editors, but I might need to some more information to help you through the process.
The short answer: go here to write a draft and then submit it for review. If you don't read the long answer, your draft will nearly certainly be declined.
The long answer:
1. First, to help you I'm going to need some more information. Who is this person, and why "should" they have an article?
2. Wikipedia only covers topics which are "notable" — not notable in the sense of famous, but in a very specific Wikipedia sense: that the topic is well-covered or important enough to merit coverage. If we didn't have these inclusion guidelines, we'd be overrun with articles about, say, peoples' pet cats, which would be nice but not very fitting for an encyclopedia.
  • How do you determine if something is notable? If you're writing about a person, you'll want to check out this guideline. On that same page, there are more specific guidelines for different sorts of people. For example, national politicians, people with significant roles in multiple notable films, etc., are all presumed to be notable topics.
  • If you tell me who you want to write about, I'm happy to help you assess their notability.
3. The second part of your comment makes me wonder why this person needs to have an article. If you just think we have a gap in our coverage, that's great! That's how most new articles get written. I actually first joined Wikipedia because I thought there were gaps in our coverage of centipedes.
But if you think this person needs an article because you've been paid to promote them, or are a fan and want to promote them on Wikipedia, you need to make very sure you're writing from a neutral point of view. That doesn't mean you can't write the article though.
I don't think this is the case, but if you are getting paid to write an article, or have a conflict of interest with the subject, this will get a lot more complicated.
I get that this is a lot; please don't rush through this process. Writing a first article is difficult. If you can tell me who the person is and why you want them to have an article, that'll be a good first step.
I'll also leave a standard set of links on your talk page to some of Wikipedia's guidelines and policies, to help find your way around the encyclopedia. I'd suggest you make some small improvements to articles you're interested in to get used to the editing process. You should have a homepage that you can configure to give you editing suggestions.
If you have any more questions (small or large), don't hesitate to ask me or post a message at the Teahouse, a forum where new editors can get help.
Cheers, Cremastra talk 19:59, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Cuyahoga River questions

Hello Cremastra, I am a new editor to Wikipedia and have been working on the article "Cuyahoga River." I noticed some of the information I added was removed a few weeks ago and wanted to know if you could help me improve it. I would have reached out sooner, but I initially believed that I had simply forgotten to publish my additions (and also why I initially added it back). If there is any advice you could share or sources you could direct me too, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your work on Wikipedia. EEL1917 (talk) 17:09, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

@EEL1917 Sorry, this is going to be an unhelpful reply, because I don't believe I removed your edits. I reverted a copyright violation added just before by a different user, but your edits should still be standing, although the diffs are now deleted due to the page at that time containing a copyright violation. I assume you're talking about your edits on 18 April. Looking at the revision history, NicoEroles (the copyright violator) added 611 and then 762 bytes to the page; you then added several thousand bytes, and I then removed 762 and 611 bytes, corresponding to NicoEroles' plagiarism. However, I'm not an administrator and can't look at deleted revisions, so I can't see what you added to confirm it's still in the article.
In any case, I wouldn't be the editor to ask for advice on that article as I don't know much about the subject area. If it was an article about an animal, plant, or populated place, I'd probably have useful advice, but you know far more on this subject than I do. Good luck, and apologies I couldn't be more useful. Cremastra talk 19:43, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
Ok, that makes much more sense. Thank you for your oversight. EEL1917 (talk) 20:16, 2 May 2025 (UTC)

Userbox alignment

Hi Cremastra, this is not especially important, but the userbox on your user page User:Peristome/UserBox/GodMMAtheist does not play nice with being inside the {{flex columns}} template and extends its border to the right edge of the page, pushing everything else into the middle of your userpage. I don't think this is intentional, and I don't know why it behaves like this. Putting it outside the flex columns fixes this behavior but doesn't look at nice. Just thought I'd let you know -- Reconrabbit 15:59, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Yeah, I don't know why it does that with the border. The userboxes were pushed to the centre before I added that one, though, so I'm not really sure what's going on. Possibly it's because Peristome's userbox uses a div directly rather than calling {{userbox}}. I created an alternate version that seems to have fixed the border thing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Cremastra talk 19:41, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
I think you've got it on the div elements - {{flex columns}} states Only contents which are in <div>...</div> tags will have extra whitespace distributed to them – except for those with class flex-columns-noflex (or otherwise override the flex: property). They're pushed to the center because flex columns by default take up 50% of the width of the page, and all the userboxes float left. You can push the userboxes further to the right if you set |flex1= to some arbitrary large number and |flex2= to 1, but they'll always be a minimum of 360px so you'll end up with some whitespace to the right regardless of what you do. -- Reconrabbit 20:02, 8 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from ShimogaS on User:ShimogaS (16:05, 13 May 2025)

How do I make my page live --ShimogaS (talk) 16:05, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

@ShimogaS I assume you want to make your userpage an article.
First, read WP:YFA and WP:BACKWARDS. The present draft is, I'll be blunt, totally unacceptable because it has no inline sources (where did the information come from?), is badly formatted (look at nearly any other article on this project. We don't sprinkle bold text all over the place.) and is extremely promotional in its tone.
Secondly, I will move the userpage to a correct location in "draft" space (where articles are worked on) and add a template that will allow you to submit it for review. Article-writing is the among the hardest things new editors can do, especially on topics like these. Make some small improvements to articles you're interested to get used to editing and learn the ropes.

To improve your article, read WP:YFA and WP:REFB and then read or skim some of our articles and look at their formatting. If you want to learn how to paint, it's best to look at some paintings before diving in. Same with article writing. Cremastra (uc) 22:27, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

@Cremastra Mate I know you're liberal but deliberately denying the federal name for something because someone you dont like named it. That is insanely biased and you should be disappointed in yourself because if it was there other way around you'd change it in a heartbeat. Thank you for improving article quality in June! - I heard this music, yesterday, - streamed a day before at a different location. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:47, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

While you are of course invited to check out my recommendations any day, today offers unusually a great writer of novels, music with light and a place with exquisite food. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:58, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

July 4 at OTD

Hey, I see that you swapped hooks for July 4 at OTD, even though I already swapped them for 2025. Was there a reason why you didn't want to use that set? Z1720 (talk) 00:23, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Facepalm Facepalm Nope, it was just that my brain was apparently on holiday at the time. Thanks for catching that; I've reverted back to your version, although I'll add the Starmer hook to the notes. Cremastra (talk) 00:28, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Removing of comment on Mario Page (12:42, 8 July 2025)

Hello, I hope you are well. You removed my comment on the talk page of Mario under the requested moves section. I believe you had no right to do so, however in order to avoid making the talk page messy, I thought I would write here instead. After your removal I looked at the personal attack section in order to see if my comments fell under the category. I do not believe that it does. I will list all type of comments deemed unacceptable in accordance to the clear guidelines:

1. Abuse based on gender, sexuality, race etc - the comment clearly does not fall under this

2. speculation regarding real life affiliations - again no

3. Political views - clearly not

4. Linking to external sources - no

5. Comparing editors to terrorism, dictators, etc - no

6. Threats of legal action, violence etc - no

Whilst I understand that this list is not exhaustive, which it clearly states, my comment as follows was: "If you find that amusing maybe you should find something more productive to do with your time. I see you have over 150,000 edits. Perhaps you should focus less on the quantity and more on quality of your argument."

I agree telling someone to focus less on the quantity rather than quality of your arguments can definitely be seen as a petty on my part but to call it a personal attack seems rather ridiculous. If I wanted to do the same I could claim the same editor calling me "emotional" above my comment is deemed a personal attack. I would also like to point out that the same editor has commented over 25 times on the requested move which I don't think should be allowed - but that is a separate issue.

Lastly according to the section on removal of personal attacks it says only the most serious types of attacks including outing should be removed. I think we can both agree this is not one of those cases. Even if you disregard all of my previous points the guidelines seem relatively clear on this.

Due for the reasons above I have reinstated my edit. Jasp7676 (talk) 21:46, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

At least two other editors have interpreted it a personal attack. You chose to point out that the user has over 150K edits and then used that to suggest that the other editor is bad at forming an argument. ThomasO1989 (talk) 21:59, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
The personal attack but is picking out that they have 150,000 edits and making that the basis of your insult. I am following the spirit of the policy if not the precise wording. Please comment on content, not contributors; this was an ad hominem attack and should not have been restored. Cremastra (talk) 22:02, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
I'm sorry but that's an insufficient and unsatisfactory response to you removing my comments. Claiming to follow the "spirit of the policy" on the basis of the "ad hominem attack" is a weak argument. "On other talk pages, especially where such text is directed against you, removal should typically be limited to clear-cut cases where it is obvious the text is a true personal attack." In what sense is this possibly a clear cut case? Also the context as to why I used the 150,000 edits as an example is because the editor had made over 25+ edits on the page which is clearly excessive, an important point which no one else seems to have raised. WP:NOTCENSORED Jasp7676 (talk) 22:16, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
There is no rule that is objective and not open to interpretation on what constitutes a personal attack as opposed to constructive discussion, but some types of comments are never acceptable This is a clear cut case because you attacked another editor on the basis of a personal characteristic. WP:NOTCENSORED only applies to mainspace. I invite you to read WP:NOTFREESPEECH. Cremastra (talk) 22:44, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
You cannot be serious - a personal characteristic?! I would really like you to take the time to read the comment again.
The comment reads: "If you find that amusing maybe you should find something more productive to do with your time. I see you have over 150,000 edits. Perhaps you should focus less on the quantity and more on quality of your argument."
This is utterly ridiculous. Are you seriously trying to suggest that having 150,000 edits is a personal characteristic in the same way as race, sexism, or nationality. I am genuinely shocked at this level of discourse that a 3 sentence comment, in which none of it is an insult in the slightest, is removed by another editor on the grounds of being a personal attack. I considered not bothering to take any action but your responses have amazed me. This is completely unacceptable and as the user themself didn't bother to take down the comment within 4 days or message me asking to take it down, I have restored it. I have no interest in carrying out an edit war or commenting further on this topic so therefore I will not be taking any further action. I really hope you respect my decision, genuinely think about whether this is really a personal attack, and leave it in place. Many thanks, Jasp7676 (talk) 21:12, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
At least three editors have interpreted it as a personal attack. It certainly does not advance any argument that you made regarding the move itself. You are being disruptive. Drop the stick now. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 23:17, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
Why are you so intent on having this comment restored? This is a relatively mild ad hominem attack compared to an attack on race, sexuality, or nationality, but it is still a personal attack and most certainly an insult. I am pleased you will not be edit warring about this. I thought genuinely as to whether this was a PA when I chose to redact it, and again when you asked about it on my talk page. Cremastra (talk) 23:58, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
Hello, I am one of the editors that interpreted the comment as a personal attack. I'd like to say that this comment is most likely an attempt to game the system, specifically by playing policies against each other. (Wikipedia is not censored vs. No personal attacks.) 1isall (talk/contribs) 13:11, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
I don't think the comment in question was any worse than Joy's comment that provoked it: Perhaps it's better that we don't approach this with such emotional language. Srnec (talk) 01:47, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

Requesting advanced uncontroversial page move

Hi, Cremastra. Just wanna ask: you have page mover rights, right?

I just want to request an uncontroversial page move: can you move Talk:ENA: Dream BBQ/Archive 2 to Talk:ENA: Dream BBQ/Archive N, then move it back to the former without leaving a redirect? Thanks, 1isall (talk/contribs) 14:44, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

I can do it, yes. If you want Archive N deleted, though, it's probably more straightforward (and orthodox) to tag it with G6 or G7. Cremastra (talk) 14:50, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
I guess I could tag it with both. If speedy deletion is rejected, we'll just do the move. Thanks, 1isall (talk/contribs) 14:55, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
I just tagged the redirect with both speedy deletion criteria. Thanks, 1isall (talk/contribs) 14:59, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
Archive N just got deleted, an advanced page move is now unnecessary. Thanks, 1isall (talk/contribs) 22:14, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • July 9–15 - Call for candidates
  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

You're receiving this message because you signed up for the mailing list. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the list.

Still a few more days to get your nomination in there... :) Thebiguglyalien (talk) 🛸 15:22, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
A nomination of myself? I appreciate the encouragemnt, but this discussion has shut the door on that for now. Cremastra (talk) 16:21, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
