Closure of "Eponyms in mathematics"
[edit]Re https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2025_October_24#Category:Eponyms_in_mathematics : Please extend your closure (if you have not done so already) to all the other "Eponyms in [mathematical field]" discussed as a hierarchy at that discussion which now are difficult to list because they cannot be found in the deleted parent category. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:20, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @David Eppstein. I am unsure if the discussion clearly supported deleting all the subcats of the parent as well? Please tell me if I am missing something that was implied by you/the voters. However, I do have a list of all the subcats prior to deletion if you want, thanks to User:Nardog/CatChangesViewer script:
- Category:Eponymous curves
- Category:Eponymous theorems of mathematics
- Category:Lists of things named after mathematicians
- Category:Eponyms in geometry
- Category:Eponymous functions
- Category:Eponymous equations of mathematics
- Category:Eponymous numbers in mathematics
- Category:Eponymous algorithms of mathematics
- ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 11:58, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- Do I have to repeat the exact same nomination again despite the clear sentiment in my nomination and the responses that the whole hierarchy except for list of things named after should go? Because at this point I'm tempted to take the lower-effort option of bringing it to AN as a BADNAC. You didn't even upmerge the subcategories into Category:Eponyms; you just left them orphaned. —David Eppstein (talk) 19:09, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Bunny did everything that he should've done. You nominated one category for deletion: if you wanted other categories to be deleted; you should tag and list them; if you wanted the former contents to be merged elsewhere, then list the merge targets. I'd be happy to make the bundled nomination for you, if you wish. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 12:57, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- If CfD nomination procedure wonkery has obscured the common sense intent of the nomination and discussion then it is the procedure wonkery that is at fault.
- As for the bundled nomination, please do. Please note that it should not include Category:Lists of things named after mathematicians but that the list of categories made above by Bunny is sadly incomplete. As well as the other categories listed above, a bundled nomination should include all of the "Eponyms" subcategories as well, which is to say also Category:Eponymous geometric shapes and Category:Eponymous theorems of geometry. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:57, 27 October 2025 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:1845 establishments in the Austrian Empire indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. ✗plicit 14:41, 26 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Explicit I have created it per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 October 18#Category:Railway stations in the Czech Republic opened in 1839. It is empty as an admin is yet to action and list my closure in WP:CFD/W from WT:CFD/W so that the bot can populate it with the merge. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 14:50, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

Merge nomination of Category:Unauthorized Israeli settlements
[edit]I nominated this category on October 21 for merging into Category:Israeli outposts: you closed the discussion yesterday as the consensus was "reverse merge".
How long before I can expect Category:Israeli outposts to be replaced with a redirect to Category:Unauthorized Israeli settlements, in accordance with this consensus decision? --GCarty (talk) 09:13, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @GCarty, since I am not an admin, I list my closures at Wikipedia talk:Categories for discussion/Working after which an admin lists them on the main page of the same for a bot to action it out. Based on the history, this should be listed in about 1-2 days, after which the bot will action it in a few hours. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 11:37, 30 October 2025 (UTC)
Guide to temporary accounts
[edit]Hello, Bunnypranav. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.
Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.
How do temporary accounts work?
- When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern:
~2025-12345-67(a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5). - All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
- A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
- As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.
Temporary account IP viewer user right
- Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
- Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.
Impact for administrators
- It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
- It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
- Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).
Rules about IP information disclosure
- Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
- Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g.
~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR
, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67) - See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.
Useful tools for patrollers
- It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options →
Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
- Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
- Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
- The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

- @CyberTheTiger Since I am not an admin, I close the discussions and list the actions over at Wikipedia talk:Categories for discussion/Working, where given 1-3 days an admin lists those on the main page of the same for a bot to process and do the final actions in a couple hours since listing. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 03:15, 1 November 2025 (UTC)

Uncontested
[edit]Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 October 25#Category:Canadian rugby football people by province or territory was closed as no consensus. I have never seen that outcome before in similar uncontested proposals and I would say usually such nominations, uncontested for weeks, is treated as soft outcomes (examples: [r]ename/merge Uncontested for weeks; rename as an uncontested nomination with a logical rationale; soft merge; and soft rename – some even shorter). There is no consensus against the proposed actions. Referred to CFDS, it is also not possible to do all actions listed in the original nomination (there were splits and mergers). Kaffet i halsen (talk) 15:17, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks you @Kaffet i halsen for the message, and apologies for the delay. Looking back, I should have done it earlier, kind of overestimated the need of consensus in an unconsted nom. I have now updated the closure and listed them for action. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:41, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

CFD closure
[edit]Hello, Bunnypranav,
I reopened a closure for Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 October 31#Category:American politicians of Middle Eastern descent as your closure instructions were to merge pages into a category that is also being considered for deletion at CFD. I don't think it is suitable to merge pages from one category to another that might also be deleted in a few days. I have scripts installed that show all pages that are tagged for deletion in a different color, in this case, pink, and that would have shown to you that this category was being debated for deletion also at CFD. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 07:23, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note @Liz, but I seem to agree with Marco on this one, see the comment. I would appreciate if you could give your thoughts over there, to keep the discussion together. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 14:36, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Hi, thank you for your contributions.
Your closure at Talk:List of Scarlet Witch titles is quite premature, as the discussion was open for less than 48 hours. I urge you to revert it. See WP:RM. 162 etc. (talk) 18:37, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you @162 etc. for the note. Apologies for the mistake, I have reverted my closure. I actioned the closure from a different section on the RM page which I thought were expired discussions, but looks like they weren't. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 00:59, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

BunnysBot: Tagging Women in Latin music category
[edit]Hi Bunnypranav! Thank you so much for you help earlier a few months ago with the Latino project-tagging bot. I'm needed of another project-tagging bot again, this time for Women in Latin music. BunnysBot vs. DISPLAYTITLE
[edit]You moved a DISPLAYTITLE from below an infobox to the top of the page here and here. When |noerror is used, please check whether the infobox can be told not to emit its own DISPLAYTITLE, lest you put the page into Category:Pages with disallowed DISPLAYTITLE modifications. Paradoctor (talk) 14:52, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you @Paradoctor for the note. For now I have added a blanket skip rule for pages with |noerro, since I am using an unmodified version of Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/General fixes so this seems to be a big on that end.
- Additionally, I would like to ask you a question. Is there any way where I can programmatically modify pages where the {{t|italic title}} can be placed above the infoboxes and modify the latter with a param like you did here? I assume that most if not all pages in this search probably can have this change to follow the preferred solution described at Template:DISPLAYTITLE#Instructions. If yes, then I would be happy to help using AWB and regex changes. Thank you. :) ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 05:28, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- I'm sure there is, but I can't advise you on how. You're probably better off asking at WP:VP/T.
- If you do, you need to watch out for several caveats:
- Multiple infoboxes on the same page, e. g. Music of Minecraft
- Inconsistent implementation. Depending on the infobox, suppression is done via
|italic title=|italic_title=|display_title=|display title=
- IIRC, some boxes can't even be silenced
- Some boxes will not italicize their own title when
|italic title=no/|italic_title=nois used, so you have to do it manually. Possibly, that won't work, though I can't recall having seen that
- If you can get this to work, please ping me, I'll gladly use it if I can. Paradoctor (talk) 09:26, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, this seems to be much more complicated than I thought. Well, I probably won't be working on this for long. Thanks for the detailed message! ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 10:23, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

Mistaken CFD filing
[edit]Hello, Bunnypranav,
Because it can take so long to resolve CFD cases, I've been looking over daily CFD log pages and handling some of the simpler closures instead of waiting for the bot to do them. But because not everyone who files a CFD case, I run into mistakes and I just found one for Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 November 10#Category:Ethnicities of Karnataka. It looks like neither Category:Ethnicities of Karnataka nor Category:Ethnic groups in Karnataka were ever tagged as being part of a CFD discussion so there was no Merge that happened. I think if a category hasn't been tagged appropriately, the CFD closure should be put aside but that's just my point of view. Anyway that's something I came across tonight. I'll try not to bother you with too many questions. Liz Read! Talk! 03:03, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Liz, thank you for the note, and no, you are not at all bothering me. You're right, the discussion is relisted if the category was not tagged; only one note that the merge target need not be tagged. I have reverted and relisted that discussion and I will make it a point to look if a category was tagged before closing discussions (perhaps the script you mentioned earlier can help). Thank you once again, and please do not hesitate to come scream at my talk for any and all clarifications, questions, or mistakes. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:12, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

Question about the CSD script you mentioned
[edit]@Bunnypranav Hello hope you are doing well. I have tried to use the script you mentioned on my userpage to list a discussion I closed but the list discussion icon at the top of the discussion doesnt list it on the page and when I click the list discussions tab in the tools side bar it keeps listing another discussion I closed when I don't want that there as it has already been implemented. [2].Do you know why it is doing this and how I can just list the new discussions I close using that script? GothicGolem29 (Talk) 18:12, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hey GothicGolem! I am a bit busy for the next few days, so can't help you trouble shoot the issue. @Qwerfjkl may be able to help though, as it their script. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 06:27, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Fair enough apologies should have realised you would have been busy I will go ask them goodluck in the election! GothicGolem29 (Talk) 10:22, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
Administrator Elections - Candidate Instructions
[edit]Thank you for choosing to run in the December 2025 administrator elections. This bulletin contains some important information about the next stages of the election process.
As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
- December 2–3: Housekeeping phase (we are here)
- December 4–8: Discussion phase
- December 9–15: SecurePoll voting phase
- Scrutineering phase
All times are in UTC. The first date in the range starts at 0:00, and the last date in the range ends at 23:59. So for example, the Discussion phase opens on December 4 at 0:00 UTC, and ends on December 8 at 23:59 UTC.
We are currently in the Housekeeping phase. Your candidate subpage will remain closed to questions and discussion. However, this is an excellent opportunity for you to recruit nominators (if you want them) and have them place their nomination statements, and a good time for you to answer the standard three questions, if you have not done so already. We recommend you spend this phase getting your candidate page polished and ready for the next phase.
The discussion phase will take place from December 4–8. Your candidate subpage will open to the public and they will be permitted to discuss you and ask you formal questions, in the same style as a request for adminship (RfA). You are strongly encouraged to be around on those dates to answer the formal questions in a timely manner.
On December 9, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. Anyone can see who has voted, but not who they voted for. You are permitted and encouraged to vote in the election, including voting for yourself. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see your vote total during the election.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which does not have an exact end date, but typically takes a few days to a week. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. For candidates that have not been recalled, in order to be granted adminship, you must receive at least 70% support, calculated as support ÷ (support + oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. For candidates that have been recalled, you must receive at least 55% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("'crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation as a candidate, and best of luck.

CFD nomination afterwork
[edit]Hello, Bunnypranav,
Just wanted to notify someone that Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 November 9#Category:China in fiction by province was never handled after the discussion was closed. I'm not sure whose responsibility that is at CFD. While it's not common, I've seen this happen recently with some new closers. They just close the discussion and ignore dealing with the actual categories that were being discussed. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 00:59, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Liz, that discussion was closed as keep, so nothing was there to handle, except tagging talk and removing nomination template which was done by XfD Closer. Am I missing something? I always make it a point to add discussions I close into the CfD lister script, which saves the stuff to be posted in Wikipedia talk:Categories for discussion/Working in my browsers local storage. Worst case I forget to click a button to actually post it, it gets posted the next time I clerk CFD, usually in a day or two. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 02:49, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
- This one looks forgotten: Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 October 24#Category:Actors from Gelderland by populated place. I could have handled this but don't know the protocol for submissions of own nominations to the bot talk page. Kaffet i halsen (talk) 12:47, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- Nice catch, and apologies for missing that. Just listed in the talk. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:03, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Re: Election (not related to main page)
[edit]I just wanted to say, you are by far the most worthy candidate for admin. All of them are good, but you seem actually amazing. I think you’re even sort of a candidate for ArbCom. Cooldood5555 (let's talk) 02:16, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Another Category query
[edit]Hey, Bunnypranav,
I'm back with another category problem that I hope you can help me with. One problem I find a lot is category changes at Speedy Renames that take forever to be completed. This time it's Category:Roman Catholic church buildings by decade of completion/Category:Roman Catholic churches by decade of completion and Category:Roman Catholic church buildings by year of completion/Category:Roman Catholic churches by year of completion. The categories were moved but the bot never moved the contents of the categories which are now sitting in a redirect category. Any ideas how to get this bot moving? Thanks and I hope you are having a good week. Liz Read! Talk! 05:15, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Liz, I am not aware of the processes of speedy moves, since I am not an admin and we can't implement speedy moves; @Ymblanter, who usually is pretty active there might have a better idea. Based on a quick look of the WP:CFDW page, it looks like only move-with-redirect requests seem to have this problem. AFAIK, there are no problems with the listing, probably something wrong with how the bot processes speedy moves (or other moves in general). ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 09:55, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- In this case {{Roman Catholic churches completed in decade category header}} had the old categories hard coded which @Timrollpickering fixed while I was at it. Kaffet i halsen (talk) 10:09, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Well, thank you, Bunnypranav and Kaffet i halsen. I didn't realize NACs couldn't "action" speedy renames. Beyond closing a discussion, I'm very ignorant on how to implement CFD outcomes, they are so much more complicated that AFDs or RFDs. But it looks like the situation is resolved so thanks to you both. Liz Read! Talk! 23:11, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Welcome! For some additional info, actioning any category stuff (CfD or speedy) by the bot requires it to be posted at Wikipedia:CFDW, which is fully protected. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 01:04, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi. I am editing using a smartphone. My first edit was a former footballer's name. I had to manually edit every instance of the incorrect name. How do I find and replace all instances at once? --Moseysch (talk) 11:20, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Moseysch! Unfortunately, the find and replace dialog is not accessible on mobile without an external keyboard (if you have that, Ctrl+F should bring up the menu where you can Find and Replace All occurrences). Once option is to use the source editor to copy all the content in the article, paste it into a third-part software like the notes app, and use it's find and replace. Hope this helps! ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:29, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from WandaL1710 (01:57, 19 December 2025)
[edit]Hello, I have drafted and submitted my first article (a musician’s bio). Can you look at Draft:Danny_Cummings. The reviewer keeps harping on external references, saying they should be removed from the body of my article as they are not allowed. I get it, but my footnotes are legit external references that I’ve listed in the Reference section. Where I cannot use an inline (embedded) reference in a sentence, I have used an external one, made it a footnote, and listed it in the Reference section. I’m confused as to what he wants and as he is a highly experienced editor, I just don’t understand what he requires. Can you help please? --WandaL1710 (talk) 01:57, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @WandaL1710, apologies for the delayed response. As per Wikipedia:External links, external links are not allowed in the main body of the article in most cases; you may choose to convert those links in Draft:Danny Cummings#Discography to references. While I have not done a thorough read of the article, @Theroadislong has raised issues that the tone of the article is
encyclopedicunencyclopedic and so not suitable for Wikipedia. Before submitting the article again for review (which you should do by the way), you will need to fix the article of these issues. Please do read the policies I have linked above, they will definitely help you in improving your article. I have pinged the reviewer in case they have anything to add. Hope this helps! :) ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:19, 20 December 2025 (UTC)- I think you mean the tone of the article is "unencyclopaedic" Theroadislong (talk) 14:19, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, my bad. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 14:46, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Greetings! Per @Theroadislong ‘s suggestions, I deleted any “peacocking.” Now I am struggling with his direction that I must delete all “external references” in the main body of the draft. This is where I’m not understanding him, could you give Draft:Danny_Cummings another look? Setting aside the Discography for a Sec (which I can/will trim significantly), please could you provide a SPECIFIC EXAMPLE of an “external reference” that appears in the main body that IS NOT already footnoted and is listed in the back section “References?” I am truly stumped and frustrated. Thanks so much! ~2025-42020-58 (talk) 17:17, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Good day! I deleted all verbiage that might strike the reader as “peacocking.” I’m honestly having trouble seeing the article as “unencyclopaedic” as you do. Can you kindly give me a specific example? I will try to do better if only I knew what you refer to.(Y’know everyone has a different writing style. I respectfully disagree with your assessment that the article is too breezy in tone. And I think any encyclopaedic entry, wherever it is published, should be readable and not stiff!) Wherever a sentence contains a fact that is not an inline reference, it’s a footnoted reference and listed as such in the back of the article (an external reference). How is that any different from any other Wikipedia article with superscript, numbered references? I’m at a loss! Happy Holidays, and thank you for your continued assistance! ~2025-42020-58 (talk) 18:08, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Question from WandaL1710 (16:18, 21 December 2025)
[edit]Hello, in my Sandbox, I would like to start a new draft of References to my original draft article, but I don't want to "publish" it (yet). I just want to copy/paste references from the Draft article that's been submitted into a new document and work on them, pare them back, make them better. It is more of a workspace than anything, and for now I want to set it aside as a work in progress. Yet I cannot see, in my "Sandbox," how to make this new document? Can you give me a step-by-step guide on how to do this? Thank you very much! --WandaL1710 (talk) 16:18, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

- Regarding Phabricator, anyone can create an account, and it is way easier if you already have a Wikimedia account (which we all do btw). mw:Phabricator/Help#Creating your account has a quick start guide, or just go to https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/auth/start/ and click on Login or Register - MediaWiki. You would then have created your phab account, which will definitely help to communicate tech stuff in the long run. Hope this helps! ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 13:23, 31 December 2025 (UTC)

BunnysBot: AfC backlog drives and renamed users
[edit]I had to ask Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/December 2025 Backlog Drive/Participants/hekatlys to be histmerged into Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/December 2025 Backlog Drive/Participants/Quinntropy while re-reviewing two of Quinntropy's reviews. For future backlog drives, could you make the bot automatically move subpages for renamed participants if possible (to avoid losing previous re-reviews and reviews of drafts that have subsequently been deleted)? - Hi, and firstly thanks for requesting the history merge. I actually noticed the rename and wanted to act on it myself but due to IRL stuff I was not free for multiple days.
