[edit]

Can I start a new page about professional Boxer John carlo who defeated ex world champion Leon Spinks October 1994 , which holds the distinction of being first time ex worlds heavyweight champion was beat by a fighter who was making his debut 0-0 Record , John Carlo born 10:16/1961 in st Frances hospital, Bronx NY , 14-2 professional boxing record also runs martial arts and boxing schools in upstate ny and former 1989 golden gloves champion John Carlo Boxing (talk) 17:42, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ey, welcome, and thank you for writing article content for Wikipedia! Whether you can start an article about Carlo depends on whether there's enough reliable sources written by other people about him. More information is included in Help:Your first article, my favorite guide on how to get started. Also, take note that articles should only summarize information from all the good sources you can find. Good luck, and ask me if you need any help! Aaron Liu (talk) 21:48, 2 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, do you have a personal/financial relationship with John Carlo? If so, creating this article is generally considered a bad idea per Wikipedia:Autobiography#Creating an article about yourself, with many net negatives. If not, you might want to change your username so other editors don't get suspicious. Aaron Liu (talk) 22:10, 2 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@John Carlo Boxing Hopefully you saw my replies! Just so you know, I think that block on you that's been lifted was a bit overzealous (too hurried) and unnecessary. Aaron Liu (talk) 15:53, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hi Aaron, I'm struggling to fix reference 1 on the Emily Bronte page, which has a template in red that I can't seem to get rid of. Would you mind telling me what I'm overlooking, please? ArthurTheGardener (talk) 09:02, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. As prompted and explained by the help link in the red message, simply fill out the template.
I don't think this particular citation is any good a source, though. Aaron Liu (talk) 12:01, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Aaron. Your help is appreciated, as always. ArthurTheGardener (talk) 14:29, 3 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Okieblokewil (18:33, 5 October 2025)

[edit]

Hey! How do I cite an article from another language's wikipedia? Thanks! --Okieblokewil (talk) 18:33, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, you cannot cite Wikipedia as a source. See also Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/5. Aaron Liu (talk) 19:20, 5 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yeah that makes sense. I think I phrased that poorly; how do I indicate that the text I have written is translated from another language's article on the same subject? It seems like I ought to attribute that work. Thanks! Okieblokewil (talk) 14:54, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Okieblokewil Ooh, great decision! There is indeed a guideline for attribution. Help:Translation#Licensing seems to be a good guide to it! Aaron Liu (talk) 15:46, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from JaredMcKenzie (22:01, 6 October 2025)

[edit]

I am just curious and need clarity on a very specific issue. I am not arguing to add in Taiwan is not a country. Even though my sources like Oxford University Public international Law [1] also state that "under international law, Taiwan cannot regarded as a state" - (no different to a subject expert in The Conversation saying the same thing[2] ) - I am not going to add that info in as I see there's an old RFC specifically voting for not allowing that "technically incorrect info" in. But what about info like Taiwan not declaring formal independence ever, or having a de jure sovereignty dispute over mainland territory due to the fact their ROC constitution still technically claims mainland as ROC terrority despite also accepting that PRC effectively controls it. (Sovereignty is distinct from effective control under international law) Or that academic sources [3] commonly refer Taiwan as de facto independent but not De Jure independent given the fact it never declared itself as a new state separate from China and most of the world only recognise Beijing as gov of China instead of them. I want to know what the RFC allows and disallow and its range? --JaredMcKenzie (talk) 22:01, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Malyssify (04:17, 8 October 2025)

[edit]

Hello, added a Philanthropic page. Please review. --Malyssify (talk) 04:17, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! There's many problems with the text you were trying to add, but I think your Professor/Teacher might be able to explain them better than I could. If you still don't understand after getting back from her, feel free to ask me! Aaron Liu (talk) 22:22, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure?
