Hey, can someone fluent in Bengali or Hindi check to see if there is coverage for the short story Mallar Jekhane Name (short story)? I don't have any info beyond what is in the article. It actually looks like the story was probably never published in English. I'm going to post at the West Bengal WP as well, but wanted to ask here. The article is up for AfD and I just want to make sure that it gets a fair shake. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 02:55, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

CentralNotice banners introducing the Wikimedia Core Curriculum in India

[edit]

The Community Development team at the Wikimedia Foundation recently developed a comprehensive course on Wikipedia editing for complete beginners, focusing on teaching the core policies rather than the mechanics of the interface. The course comprises around 13 hours of digestible (3 to 7 minute) video segments, and is described here.

We would like to experiment with attracting potential new editors to take the course by running a geo-located CentralNotice banner campaign to readers (not-logged-in site visitors) in India for two weeks. Feedback welcome! Asaf (WMF) (talk) 12:11, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Request for feedback on AfC draft Draft:Annamalai (BJP politician)

[edit]

I have submitted an Articles for Creation draft titled Draft:Annamalai (BJP politician), which is about an Indian BJP politician and former IPS officer who served as the BJP Tamil Nadu state president from 2021 to 2025. The draft is currently under AfC review, it is fully referenced to reliable sources (The Hindu, The New Indian Express, India Today, The Times of India, etc.) with chronological coverage of the subject’s public roles. Feedback from editors regarding sourcing, neutrality, or title disambiguation is welcome. TamizhanEditor (talk) 15:23, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It seems this will need to go to DRV, per the WP:DEEPER listing. TryKid[dubiousdiscuss] 23:28, 17 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The draft looks good to me, at least enough to accept it despite the old AfD. I have started a DRV Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2026 January 18. TryKid[dubiousdiscuss] 02:39, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for non-English sources about bhel puri

[edit]

I recently expanded the article Bhel puri and nominated it for DYK. A reviewer pointed out that a source I used is not reliable, so I am trying to find other sources that verify similar information. (Specifically, the DYK statement was that a theory on the dish's origin involves Shivaji, and another statement cited to the source is about the first written recipe.) As I have already thoroughly searched English sources about bhel puri, it would be helpful if someone could find sources about the subject in Hindi, or perhaps Gujarati or Marathi. I would greatly appreciate if anyone wants to collaborate on this, and it may be good to collaborate on similar articles I am working on, including Panipuri. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧(talk | contribs) 07:11, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

This is essentially still unsourced after all these years. Is this really notable? Please add reliable sources. Ping me if you have any questions. Bearian (talk) 10:16, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article All Saints Church, Vithura has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Tagged as Unreferenced for 11 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Undistinguished architecture and run of the mill church parish.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.

If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 00:22, 26 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Article assessment

[edit]

Hello, WikiProject India members. I recently created a biographical article on Gananath Sen, a Bengali Ayurvedic physician and scholar; and not very long ago, one on Rajballabh Sen, a Bengali revenue administrator and zamindar. While the articles have been published and reviewed, they remain unassessed, as indicated by their talk pages. While I do have some knowledge of how to work on an article's talk page, I do not know how to assess a biographical article, or any article for that matter (albeit I've admittedly read before that it isn't rocket science). Could someone help me out with this? Or perhaps even assess the articles themselves? Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Please also let me know if this isn't the right place to ask this specific query, and if I should instead post it elsewhere. Thanks! Dissoxciate (talk) 09:36, 26 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

User:Anahitak07/sandbox is a draft by a new editor. Do the sanctions about Indian history articles apply to this draft? LeapTorchGear (talk) 09:53, 27 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It was submitted for review diff, so I'd say 'yes'. Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 11:00, 27 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
