Failing Elliot Rodger GA nom

[edit]

The reviewer for the GA nom has compared the article to Kaczynski, which is at FA level. GA and FA levels are completely different, so it makes no sense why they are comparing these two. They said it has "insurmountable" issues, which means they want the whole article rewritten after two months of this review being open. That is very frustrating for me as I wished they had said that two months ago, when I didn't go through the whole article and rewrote it section by section. That being said, I have requested to fail the nomination as I am burned out and just do not have the energy or time to rewrite it from scratch after two months. If you would like to pick up where the reviewer left off, feel free. Otherwise, the nomination will be closed. Shoot for the Stars (talk) 03:00, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Shoot for the Stars, I understand your frustration, given that the new issues have been brought up just when it seemed like the end was in sight. Regarding taking up the nomination, I've just had a review start and expect I will be dealing with that for at least the next week. Even if I didn't have that, I don't think I have enough time for an article as large as the Rodger one at present. TarnishedPathtalk 03:18, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
What a waste of time, honestly. I spent two months reworking everything, and the reviewer still called it "insurmountable". Very sad day for me.Shoot for the Stars (talk) 18:04, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Did you honestly think that the article has "insurmountable" issues. Shoot for the Stars (talk) 18:15, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
As I said above, it looked like the end was within sight. TarnishedPathtalk 23:58, 6 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Looking on the plus side, the article has improved quite a bit. Perhaps when you've had a rest and are up for it, requesting a peer review, with reference to the GAN? TarnishedPathtalk 00:49, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Waiting almost a whole year for a review, and then having to rewrite the whole article for two whole months, only for the reviewer to fail it, has made me exhausted and unmotivated right now. I have submitted it for Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors in the meantime, so hopefully that can help. Shoot for the Stars (talk) 01:14, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Shoot for the Stars, given the editor's feedback who just performed a copy edit, I've requested a PR to get another set of eyes for another perspective prior to any future GA nomination. Please see Wikipedia:Peer review/Elliot Rodger/archive2. You don't need to participate in the PR, I'll undertake any suggested edits. Ps, the GA review I mentioned above finished in two days, which was a lot faster than I expected. TarnishedPathtalk 11:02, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
