Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Kansas

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Kansas. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Kansas|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Kansas. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to US.

WP:NPOL presumes in favor of statewide officials, but there is some ambiguity in AfDs on if that counts for appointees. Personally, I interpret this as elected officials and a small number of appointees (i.e. appointed attorneys general). Others believe a governor's cabinet members are included. I do not believe we should presume notability for the reasons in my personal essay. After a number of searches, I do not believe the subject is notable.
Newspaper searches revealed passing mentions of WP:ROUTINE funding announcements and grant awards. Similarly, an EBSCOHost search revealed a lot of passing mentions in industry-specific publications.
I also searched on the Transportation Research Board's website, EBSCOHost, and Google Scholar, to see if she could meet WP:AUTHOR. The group authorship on TRB contributions make determining if contributions can meet #1 and #2, but I think that is a moot point #3 and #4 are not met for what does not appear to be a large sample of work.
On the note of the TRB: She has served on the national board of the TRB (what that service entails I am unsure) and she did win the George S Bartlett Award in 2022. WP:ANYBIO notes winning awards as non-independent sources note this as a prominent award. However, a corporate bio states she won the award for leading development of a national vision for transportation for state DOTs, which was unanimously approved by all 52 state and territory departments of transportation in October 2022. TLDR: An organization gave her an award for making their own plan. Other award winners with Wikipedia articles either qualify as national politicians, or are individuals like Edward N. Hines and Francis B. Francois where unique innovative approaches to transportation are far more apparent.
The subject lacks significant coverage in reliable sources and I don't think winning the George S. Bartlett Award meets ANYBIO #1 (which in of itself would not guarantee notability). Mpen320 (talk) 03:08, 12 July 2025 (UTC)

Fails WP:NACTOR. Credits are far too skimpy. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:24, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

Fails WP:SINGER. Let's see the sources, [1]—seems reliable enough [2]—primary [3]—IMDb [4]—just a Google search [5]—another IMDb [6],[7],[8]—all seem reliable enough (though I'm not doing a full check to see whether they are truly reliable) Per WP:SINGER, I can't seem to find where this musician meets points 2, 3, and 9, I haven't checked further, but this article potentially fails other points too. Doing a WP:BEFORE, I only found vast swaths of social media posts and primary sources, with finding only one source which talks a bit about how he ended his music career. I found nothing else in my search. The article content is littered with unsourced and short sections that are basically fancruft. So violating WP:BLP too. I think this subject isn't notable enough for wikipedia after doing all the checking. Yelps ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ critique me 16:16, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

- Delete I've had a look at the sources too (and pulled some from the archives). Can't verify [1] due to paywall. [3]/[4]/[5] have been covered above and are not reliable sources. [6] and [7] are reliable but only passing/trivial mentions so can not contribute to demonstrating notability. [8] is authored by someone connected to the subject and can't demonstrate notability. Looking at available sources online, the only ones I can find are all passing mentions and ones listed by the nominator. No other indication of notability therefore I don't think that WP:BAND or WP:BLP are met at all. sksatsuma 17:35, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
