Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Indiana|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Indiana. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Gurley Corner, Indiana

Comment - WP:NGEO says "Populated, legally recognized places are typically presumed to be notable" and that in the USA "Census Designated Places usually represent notable places". I'm not sure how to check if Gurley Corner is a Census Designated Place, but I bet somebody knows how? Lijil (talk) 21:20, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If it were, it would have been described as such in the article, because CDP's in the US are, as you said, presumed notable (I don't agree with this, but I'm one person). As for the article, nothing to say or find in searching. Delete. WeirdNAnnoyed (talk) 22:35, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Five Points, Switzerland County, Indiana

Another five-way intersection which this old map shows had a school and nothing much else. The school also shows up on the oldest topos but has sincve been replaced by a power substation. I get no indications that this was a town per se. Mangoe (talk) 12:23, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Air Indiana

Air Indiana was the airline that operated the extremely notable Air Indiana Flight 216. Aside from that crash, which wiped out the Evansville basketball team, the airline itself was not really known for anything else. It operated a fleet of four airplanes for three years. A thorough WP:BEFORE finds nothing about Air Indiana (other than some very WP:ROUTINE corporate announcements) unrelated to the crash. I would suggest merge but there's only one sentence that isn't in the crash article already, and that's sourced to a non-RS. Fails WP:NCORP and WP:GNG. Redirect No significant coverage in any of the sources I found online, and the sources currently in the article to establish notability. Avonburg, Indiana

Antioch, Switzerland County, Indiana

This appears to be a short-lived 4th class post office named after a Methodist church which was almost half a mile north of the intersection, more or less across from its cemetery, which is still there. The church appears to have been torn down around 2005, but it is shown on older topos and can be plainly seen on aerials. County histories refer to the church but make no mention of a town, and there's nothing significant at the intersection. No evidence that this was an actual settlement. West Grove, Indiana

Another visit to the 1876 state atlas, and again, you know there's nothing there, except that in this case the topos show the "West Grove Cemetery". And what I'm finding in searching is that hits are mostly for a Quaker meeting which was apparently here. But I'm not getting anything else, so this seems to have been an isolated meeting house. Keep - Several documents state there was a Quaker Friends Monthly Meeting building and cemetery here, as well as a school (p. 238). This book (p.188) mentions a person living in West Grove. --Magnolia677 (talk) 14:27, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
