DYK for Winter of 1917–18 in the United States
[edit]On 31 July 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Winter of 1917–18 in the United States, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the winter of 1917–18 caused Nantucket to connect to mainland Massachusetts via an ice bridge? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Winter of 1917–18. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Winter of 1917–18 in the United States), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

User:Kephir/gadgets/rater is outdated
[edit]Hi Guerreroast,
You currently have User:Kephir/gadgets/rater in your common.js. This user script has not been updated in over 4 years, and isn't up to date with many of the changes in the WikiProject space in last 2 years. For instance, this edit added a 'USPP' parameter that was removed from WikiProject United States several years ago.
You can easily upgrade to the User:Evad37/rater script that is the up to date version, by replacing Kephir's script with
{{subst:lusc|User:Evad37/rater.js}}
in your common.js file. Cheers Harryboyles 01:04, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Harryboyles well that was definitely an improvement from the old one. Roast (talk) 01:52, 2 August 2025 (UTC)

Wikiproject Biography tagging
[edit]Hi there. Thank you for all the good work you're doing! Secondly, on a more minor note, I wanted to flag that for biograpical articles, ideally you should add |blp=no or |blp=yes to the banner shell for articles of people as appropriate, so they don't get added to maintenance categories like Category:Biography articles without blp parameter. Thank you. :-) -Kj cheetham (talk) 13:03, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Kj cheetham I can't find it as an option on user:Evad37/rater. Is there yet another modern script for me to download? Roast (talk) 21:57, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- Guerreroast That's the same script I'm using. The option is under {{WikiProject banner shell}} rather than {{WikiProject Biography}}. Hope this helps! -Kj cheetham (talk) 15:45, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

inaccuracies in converting plaintext URLs
[edit]I need to inform you that you are doing something wrong when you are converting plaintext urls into citation templates. I recognize you have been around for ~4 years with over 40,000 edits.
Over at William Roesch (business executive) note how your actions transformed at least two references:
From the specific and useful
- https://archive.triblive.com/news/through-art-and-charity-antiques-dealer-carries-on-husbands-memory/
- https://collection.carnegieart.org/objects/1ffe099a-1867-4cf0-bcd3-3b436837e40b
To the generic and not useful at all:
In the first case, my url that points right into the publication's archives for a specific article, is replaced by a generic welcome page, possibly a paywall. In the second case, my url that points directly to the specific artwork discussed by the article is replaced by a generic welcome page.
Please urgently change your approach, since you are actively hurting the project with your actions, which I am sure are made in good faith. I trust you will now review all other citation conversions you have done. Please acknowledge (in any way you choose) you have read and understood this message, and I will leave you to figure out your preferred remedy, not taking any further action. - Hello again, Guerreroast. I noticed you have made edits after I posted this message, so I am assuming you have read and understood it. I will have to ask you to acknowledge my error report, that you have ceased to convert bare urls the way you did, and that you will be looking into fixing/reverting any other lost urls. Do this, and I will assume an experienced editor like yourself will be able to clean up after yourself, and I won't feel compelled to take further action. Of course, if you are of the view I have jumped to conclusions, and there are other considerations at stake, don't hesitate to contact me. Best regards, CapnZapp (talk) 10:00, 20 August 2025 (UTC)

Draft:Chris Chan (internet celebrity)
[edit]Please note that Weston is not an "internet celebrity". She is the victim of a long-running harassment campaign and is only notable from that perspective, which is why the only place it is legitimate to cover this matter is in the article about the harassment platform. I've nominated both drafts for deletion. There is no possibility of an article here. It has been rejected over and over. --DanielRigal (talk) 10:58, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

The file File:John P. Morris.jpeg has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the file should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Why I reverted your recent Louis E. Burnham edits
[edit]First of all, you erroneously wikilinked Louis Burnham's widow, Dorothy Burnham. But the Wikipedia article on Dorothy Burnham is about a different person: dead, not alive like Burnham's widow; white, not Black like Burnham's widow; a Canadian, not a New Yorker like Burnham's widow; and so on. You really ought to pay attention to the content of the article before you edit it.
Second, removing "African-American" from the article's short description does violence to Burnham's life work, which focused on African-American lives, welfare, and precarity, as well as to the others in his circle of activists. Perhaps your edit here was more in keeping with Wikipedia practice, and I responded to the carelessness of the wikilink called out in the previous paragraph. Please let me know if that is the case.
Again, please be more attentive to the article before you edit it. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 18:32, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- I linked to Dorothy Burnham (yes, redirect) because I planned on finishing the Dorothy Burnham article soon after that edit; it has not really come to be so, so that's my fault. When I finish the Dorothy article, I'll reinstate that edit as the information will be actually moved by then.
- I removed "African" to inch closer to Wikipedia:SD40, so yeah, "keeping with Wikipedia practice" was why I did it. You're also right that he can be an exception. Roast (talk) 18:38, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- Well don't revert my correction again! Create the Dorothy (née Challenor) Burnham article before you link to it, or to a redirect, in the false guise of some completely different Dorothy Burnham. Don't put the cart before the horse as one might say. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 19:43, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- Don't revert the current revision, despite the fact Mrs. Burnham has the article of her own now and the change is sensible? Yes, it was my mistake to “put the cart before the horse”, but it'd be an improvement now. Roast (talk) 19:47, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

- @Larrykoen Dorothy Burnham is no longer a redirect to the white Canadian woman, and is about his wife. I created the article at 14:19, then reinstated the change at 14:20. I'm pretty sure you didn't check what it linked to this time. Roast (talk) 19:43, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Irving Levitas (physician), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Irving Levitas (physician).
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Dionysodorus}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

FLYGOD
[edit]Look, I know you are doing LOADS of articles, but I'm asking if you can make an article on FLYGOD (2016 LP)? I tried but I'm not used to citing info, let alone making an article! I'm not asking you to make this immediately, but I was wondering if you, or anyone who sees this can? Thanks! Rupert likes music (talk) 21:56, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Rupert likes music: the album not notable on its own. It made two appearences in top album lists (Rolling Stone and Golden Age of Hip Hop), and never earned a spot on a chart or an award.
- And while you're here I'll give you a music suggestion: Haram by Armand Hammer. Roast (talk) 22:20, 2 October 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for writing this; a sad but valuable read. I don't know if you noticed, but it ended up being part of an interesting (but accidental) animal-rights-themed main page, alongside pictures of Jane Goodall and Siegfried and Roy (the latter in the context of a 'performing animal' mauling Roy). Dorothy Burnham short description
[edit]@Guerreroast: I restored "civil rights" to Dorothy Burnham's short description. Activist is insufficient. As a counter-example, the short description for Charlie Kirk is "American political acttivist." Take away the "civil rights" and "political" adjectives, and there is nothing in the short description to distinguish Dorothy Burnham from Charlie Kirk. And they do need to be distinguished from each other. Larry Koenigsberg (talk) 19:01, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
