Only Warning

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you insert a spam link to Wikipedia again, as you did at Cengiz Coşkun, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. References 3, 4 & 5 are exactly the same thing & that is ref spamming. Use Ref 3 & “re-use” rather than try & pass it off as other sources & quit with the trolling, I wouldn’t warn you again. Birthplace of Mujtaba Hussain

Assalamu Alaikum,

Just seen that you reverted edits about the birthplace of Mujtaba Hussain by a user from Karnataka to Hyderabad.

Actually, Hyderabad at the time of the subject's birth was Hyderabad State and not the small city we find today. It included the whole of Telangana as well as parts of the present day Karnataka as well as Maharashtra. The subject was born in an area of the present day Karnataka (then "Hyderabad State"). He was born in Gulbarga or Bidar, when you try to name the city, I'll have to find the source. --Hindustanilanguage (talk) 10:58, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Urdu Wiktionary

Aslamaulikum, @Hammad:!

I am Taimoor, and I have recently been active on Urdu Wiktionary. I had decided to make a BOT for Urdu wiktionary and it turns out that the client I'm using is IP-blocked. I was wondering whether you were able to grant me an IP-ban exception as well as the BOT permission, on this account, for Urdu Wiktionary. Since Urdu Wiktionary is quite inactive, I wasn't sure who to ask but I'm aware you're an admin who could grant privileges and was wondering if you are able to help me out? :

Saʽid al-Kamali moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Saʽid al-Kamali, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 12:14, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Abdul Qadir Gilani. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. DMacks (talk) 00:51, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

Non-attributed translations

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from ur:تذکرۃ_الواقعات to Tazkirat-ul-Waqiat. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:

NOTE: Content in the edit of 01:25, January 25, 2023 was translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.

Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 14:54, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

Use of AI

Information icon Hello, I'm Ram1751. An edit that you recently made to Talk:Kalakand seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications can be unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and output must be carefully checked. Your edit may have been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Ram1751 (talk) 03:51, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

@Ram1751 Yes!
I use AI solely for spelling corrections, nothing more. WHAT ABOUT SOURCES? Now, regarding sources: Kalakand is explicitly mentioned in an 1890[1] publication by the Nawal Kishore Press. Yet, you claim it was invented in 1947 and present that as a "reliable source"? How does that align with verifiability? Veritasphere (talk) 04:16, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
The source you had provided has a 1957 date:
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kalakand&oldid=1269765590#References
-Ram1751 (talk) 04:30, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
@Ram1751 bro
I am not referring to the 1957 source but the 1890 book I mentioned on the talk page, which explicitly mentions Kalakand. If Kalakand was invented in 1947, why is it mentioned in a 1890 book? The 1957 reference suggests it was created by Muslims, but I don't agree with that. Can you provide any references earlier than 1890 stating that Kalakand was invented by Thakur Sahib or someone else? Veritasphere (talk) 04:39, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

Zohran Mamdani – Urdu spelling

Please see my latest edit at Zohran Mamdani. His official campaign website (which you willingly changed for a different reference) spells the name with a full و letter. Please stop changing his official spelling choice for what you prefer. Thank you. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 18:26, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

@IvanScrooge98: Thank you for your message. However, during Zohran Mamdani's Islamic wedding (held in Dubai), his name was officially displayed in Arabic script as زهران without the full و letter. This can be seen in the wedding signage in publicly shared photos and videos (see, from 4 secs). Therefore, the spelling Zohran is consistent with how the name was formally presented by the family at the event itself. Kindly consider that visual and cultural context before reverting Urdu spellings based on only English-language campaign material.
As for the "official" Urdu version on his campaign website, it appears to be a machine translation, not reviewed or written by a native Urdu speaker. Like 'دوڑ رہے ہیں – Dor rahe hain'.Veritasphere (talk) 00:40, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Hm, I see. I cannot access the TikTok link you provided above, but thanks for the clarification. If you are able to link to a YouTube video or any more accessible footage/image from the wedding, please do so in the ref and change the spelling back to the short vowel. Sorry for the misunderstanding. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 00:45, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Oh, never mind, now I managed to watch the video. Their names on there are spelled in Arabic, not in Urdu (hints are the form of the letter ه and the conjunction و instead of اور), so that would partly invalidate your claims. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 00:49, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
@IvanScrooge98: Thanks for checking the video. You're right... the script is Arabic, not Urdu but that’s precisely the point: the name appears as زُهْران (with a ḍammah, not زوہران), and there's no instance of a full و being used. That spelling reflects actual usage more faithfully than the machine-generated Urdu version on the campaign site.
Also worth nothing the Urdu script is a modified form of the Persian script, which itself is derived from Arabic. So observing Arabic orthography in real contexts still offers relevant insight, especially in the absence of standard Urdu stylization from a reliable source. Tamām. Veritasphere (talk) 01:07, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Indeed, "زوہران" is not a standard Urdu spelling; Urdu speakers commonly write the name as "زُہران" with Urdu 'Pesh' (Arabic Ḍammah).Veritasphere (talk) 01:08, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
So you’re claiming the name is actually /zuhraːn/ [zʊˈɦɾaːn]? ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 01:12, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Wait, no. Arabic and Urdu have distinct phonologies and do not represent every sound the same way – in this case, Arabic lacks the /oː/ phoneme entirely. And, looking into it, wouldn’t the زُہران spelling be a mismatch with that vowel sound, as presented in the IPA [zoːˈɦɾaːn] and the Devanagari spelling ज़ोहरान which we are pairing it with? ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 01:11, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
@IvanScrooge98: The name is never written as زوہران in standard Urdu; it is uniformly spelled زہران, following common conventions. Some sources even write ظہران ممدانی, but زوہران is virtually absent. IPA and Devanagari may reflect pronunciation, but Urdu orthography emphasizes standardized forms over phonetic spelling. Moreover, Zohran Mamdani’s own pronunciation shows clear English influence and lacks native Urdu articulation, making it an unreliable basis for phonetic rendering.Veritasphere (talk) 01:21, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Well I’m asking ’cause I’m finding both forms in Urdu articles online, so it’s not “virtually absent”. I understand orthography might not be as uniform as in Devanagari, but apparently his name isn’t so straightforward to all Urdu speakers either. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 01:25, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
Maybe.. you're right that multiple forms exist online, but زہران is overwhelmingly more common in reputable Urdu publications [BBC Urdu, Independent Urdu and DW Urdu etc]. Variants like ظہران do appear occasionally, but زوہران remains rare and nonstandard in Urdu orthography. Thank youVeritasphere (talk) 01:32, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
@IvanScrooge98: Its /zoːɦraːn/ (ز with pesh). Veritasphere (talk) 01:39, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
I have amended the note in accordance with reputable sources. I still left the spelling with و because it would feel a bit off to me to completely remove it. Let me know how you think it looks. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 07:14, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

July 2025

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Samma dynasty. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;

Ekdalian (talk) 16:14, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

@Ekdalian: Are you accusing me of edit warring?
Did you even read my comments on the Talk page? I added the citations that were required, including one to address concerns about the previously disputed source. I even added a third reference to meet both perspectives.
Yet, my edits were still reverted, and you completely ignored my Talk page comments.
You seem to have blindly endorsed what user Sir Calculus did, without addressing the actual discussion or evidence.
That's not how consensus works. Veritasphere (talk) 17:11, 8 July 2025 (UTC)
