Question from Uboent (22:30, 5 March 2025)
Hello, I am working on a Wiki page for a visual artist, journalist and photographer and am having a tough time getting the citations in correctly. How can I do this? --Uboent (talk) 22:30, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Uboent, I assume were talking about Draft:Stephanie Taylor. Looks like you've correctly formatted the footnotes. I have adjusted so that they appear in the References section. You'll want to move individual references from the top to the end of the sentence or paragraph each supports. See WP:INLINE for general information about placement. Let me know if you need further assistance with placement. The other stuff already in the References section could use a little cleanup but that's a lesser concern. ~Kvng (talk) 15:12, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
- @KvngI added published works by Stephanie Taylor. I may have some more links to add later, I am going through all of my notes tomorrow to see what is left. I am curious if I should also add the other writings or reporting about public works and published works by Stephanie Taylor as well as my independent sources that were already added into the article here but that you had moved into the article itself. - Cheers, Aaris @Uboent Uboent (talk) 02:08, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Uboent, it looks like User:Kuru has been making improvements. You definitely should be concentrating on independent sources because that's what WP:AFC reviewers will be focusing on. It is often acceptable to include a bibliography of works by the subject but this does not typically help establish notability of the subject (notability is the primary criteria for inclusion of your article draft into the encyclopedia) and such a list is sometimes seen as WP:PROMOTIONAL. ~Kvng (talk) 14:31, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @kvng,
- I can not find all of the Published works that were added the last few days. Please let me know where they are. I did have two-three independent sources, should I share them here with you or add them in and let me know if they are independent or not? I previously did and you moved those somewhere as well.
- - Aaris Uboent (talk) 17:12, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Uboent, they were removed by User:Kuru. They are still in the article history and you can restore them. Let me know if you need help with this. ~Kvng (talk) 18:14, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- Okay,
- Yea, I don't know where they are, so that woold be helpful. Why wouldn't I list resources under resources though?
- I also need to add this artist's artwork and will need help with that but this job is taking a long time and my employer needs to have me wrap it up. I did find 2-3 independent sources that are in here somewhere and were also on that list that was moved or removed. One was from the Sacramento Library, California State University of Sacramento and Sacramento Railroad Museum. Those would work if they were independently created and are not a media or press source, correct? Uboent (talk) 22:30, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
- Click here for article history. The removal was here. This edit by Kuru deletes the list and also improves some malformed links. Restoring the list while retaining the link fixes will require some manual work. I'm happy to help you with this if restoring the list is what we want to do.
- As I said above, I suspect that Kuru saw a WP:PROMOTIONAL concern with the list. Their edit summary was
c.e, rmv open wiki ref, rmv amazon links, rmv unnecessary directory of every article written
The best thing to do is start a discussion with them about this and the other list you say you intend to add on the draft's talk page. - Sources associated with a museum where the artist has shown their work are not necessarily WP:INDEPENDENT because these institutions have a stake in how the show and the work is presented. ~Kvng (talk) 14:55, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- It is just so hard to find the independent sources as this is an artist who doubles in the press as a journalist, illustrator and photographer. Any ideas? Yes, if you can reverse that and help me organize the list better, that will work. Not sure about an Amazon link, unless her works were mentioned in a book? Maybe there is a different link but books are for sale and not available to read for free online so how would I independently source it? 2605:59C0:209D:3B10:5E0:B60F:6CB5:BF25 (talk) 23:32, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

- @kving I tried to remove the changes and it wouldn't let me and said it had to be done manually? Uboent (talk) 23:38, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Uboent unfortunately, if independent sources are not available, it doesn't make much sense for either of us to pursue this further, see WP:OVERCOME. ~Kvng (talk) 21:45, 27 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Docto pilot (22:18, 25 March 2025)
Hello, please advise how to proceed. I recently discovered the following link, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoelmans_Eiland_Airstrip?utm_source=chatgpt.com that mentions and aircraft accident with a Cessna 337 PZ-PAS at this airstrip. I am the pilot of that accident and like to state that the accident took place at Washabo near the Corantijn river in western Suriname (Stoelman's eiland is at the eastern frontier). I propose the following text: "On 23 August 1974 a Cessna 337E Super Skymaster, registered PZ-PAS, from the Pater Albrinck Stichting took off at Washabo missionary airstrip near the Corantijn river in West Suriname (Stoelman's eiland is on the Marowijne at the Eastern frontier of Suriname). There were thunderstorm conditions and the aircraft experienced a strong downdraft just after getting airborne. A landing was made but the aircraft overshot the end of the runway into a soft patch that broke off the nose wheel and bent the front propeller. The four passengers and the pilot F. Siem Tjam were not hurt". My interest is only to set the record straight. Please advise how to proceed. --Docto pilot (talk) 22:18, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Docto pilot, I have removed the information about this incident from the page. There was no citation provide there and you have also provided only firsthand information which does not Wikipedia sourcing standards. I don't see any entries in the safety database that would help support any of the information I have removed. I hope this is an acceptable remedy. ~Kvng (talk) 21:59, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
Request from AwkoTaco19 (06:31, 18 March 2025)
Ronald Prent was on the Professional sound project page, requested articles to create. I created it, and within less than 24 hours User:Frank Ken moved it to draft without explaining what was wrong. I added one not-so-signifcant line and asked him to move it back, and he told me to move it back. I saw the previous discussion on his talk page was an editor telling him that he was moving a page too quickly into draft, so I asked that editor to look at the page, and this editor admittedly is not familiar with music and award requirements for notability. She is tagging grammy.com as a primary source not in his name, when it should make the subject notable, and in fact, it is in his name. Do you think you can take a look at this page and help? Thank you! AwkoTaco19 (talk) 06:32, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @AwkoTaco19, sorry if this is frustrating. We can promptly move it back to mainspace for you per WP:DRAFTOBJECT but the editors that have raised questions (Frank Ken and Significa liberdade) may then just nominate it for deletion and I'm not sure you want to go through that. I would suggest you leave it in draft and spend some time trying to address their notability concerns. It appears the Grammy nomination is for NMUSIC not Ronald Prent so I'm not sure this meets WP:MUSICBIO #8. Do we have multiple independent sources to establish notability? I can have a closer look at the draft itself once you reply. ~Kvng (talk) 14:22, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, @AwkoTaco19! I want to clarify what I stated to you on Frank Ken's talk page. If I had not seen the Grammy nomination, I would have informed you that notability has not been established. However, because of the Grammy nomination, I think he may be, though I admitted I am less clear about what constitutes being the "direct recipient of a nomination in their own name" per WP:NMUSIC. Personally, I would be wary about nominating for deletion because I am less familiar with that specific criterion. However, I provided much more feedback to you in hopes of showing how you could improve the article. I apologize if any of that was unclear. Please let me know if you have any additional questions, comments, and/or concerns about this draft, and I'd be happy to help in what ways I can. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 14:44, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Kvng, @Significa liberdade, no worries! Thank you both for taking the time to improve the article rather than just nominate it for deletion. I've added a few more citations (LATimes, Variety, Billboard, etc.) verifying Prent's Grammy nomination and his work at Galaxy Studios with Darcy Proper, and took off the respective tags. I'll continue to work on the page, but let me know if there's anything in particular you think I should improve. Best, AwkoTaco19 (talk) 18:41, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- @AwkoTaco19, as an AfC reviewer, I find the best way to get articles improved is to get them into mainspace. What stands in the way of doing the move? ~Kvng (talk) 19:02, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Kvng, User:Ipigott has moved the page into mainspace. As I believe you are in the Professional sound production project page, would you be able to take a look at the citations for Ronald Prent? I don't see how mixonline.com is not a secondary eliable source for verifying a fact, rather than notability. Similarly, wouldn't AES be a reliable, secondary source to verify Prent speaking at it? I’ve added Grammy, billboard, and variety to verify his Grammy nomination but I don't think there's a better source than AES to verify his affiliation with them. Best, AwkoTaco19 (talk) 16:58, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- @AwkoTaco19, thanks for putting this together and congratulations. Mix is usually considered a reliable source for this topic area. AES is a primary source when announcing their own events. But primary sources are often acceptable in situations like this, see WP:PRIMARY. Significa liberdade has assessed your sources and I agree with some but not all of their criticisms. WP:SIGCOV is required from sources for the purposes of establishing notability but not necessarily for verification. ~Kvng (talk) 22:12, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there! I want to add that my concerns about SIGCOV were separate to concerns regarding verification. I was specifically concerned about failed verification in situations where a source listed did not include information stated in the sentence. For example, the source titled "Now there's an alternative to the world's ultimate analogue music console..." follows a sentence stating that Prent met Proper while working at Galaxy Studio in Belgium. However, that source doesn't mention Proper. As such, the source fails to verify the information in the sentence. In my initial assessment, I reviewed each of the sources and provided in-line commentary and tagging for clarity. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 00:14, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

Question from Comsats777 (08:08, 31 March 2025)
Is i can delete expire links from the articles? --Comsats777 (talk) 08:08, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

- Comsats777, I'm not sure what you mean by expire links. I'm going to guess you're asking about link rot. No, we don't want to summarily delete those. ~Kvng (talk) 14:11, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Question from Bear1909 on Nankai Trough (10:32, 31 March 2025)
Hello. I made a minor edit correcting Japanese language on an article, but it doesn't show up in the 'Summary' list. Is it automatic? --Bear1909 (talk) 10:32, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Bear1909, I assume you're referring to this edit. Can you clarify what you mean by summary list? ~Kvng (talk) 14:14, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
