    Edit not picked up by filter 1112

    [edit]

    Anyone know why this edit wasn't picked up by 1112? Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 13:05, 31 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    @Aydoh8: Unable to reproduce step by step, but I think it's because there is no standalone header of interest (like "Notable people"). Matěj Suchánek (talk) 08:39, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    "Epstein" vandalism

    [edit]

    This is my idea, the term "epstein" or "jeffrey epstein" is unique for vandalism for non-autoconfirmed users because they are recently encountered such as Epstein Files released in 2026. should to be add in filter 1297 or new filter? TentingZones1 (talk) 04:06, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Already in filter 614. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 12:58, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    "Editing filter" layout messed up?

    [edit]

    Starting this morning, the layout for "Special:AbuseFilter/<filterId>" editing page changed; now the center column that contains the filter is half the width because the first column is taking up too much space (mostly whitespace). I'm using the monobook theme. Anyone else notice this? OhNoitsJamie Talk 13:24, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Yep, WP:ITSTHURSDAY, see phab:T413542. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 19:48, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    Terribly ugly workaround that will probably break again next Thursday (yay OOUI):
    #mw-abusefilter-editing-form .oo-ui-fieldLayout.oo-ui-labelElement.oo-ui-fieldLayout-align-left > .oo-ui-fieldLayout-body > .oo-ui-fieldLayout-field {
    	width: 85%;
    }

    #mw-abusefilter-editing-form .oo-ui-fieldLayout.oo-ui-labelElement.oo-ui-fieldLayout-align-left > .oo-ui-fieldLayout-body > .oo-ui-fieldLayout-field label {
    	width: 100%;
    }

    I'll take ugly over a squashed edit box anyday. Thanks! OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:45, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    And I just notified the technical village pump about this. Codename Noreste (talkcontribs) 21:11, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    It looks like this is fixed now. I think the 85% rule is still an improvement on the defaults, though. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:50, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    Yeah, I've actually set mine to 90% which personally I like a bit more, but the 85% works wonders. EggRoll97 (talk) 01:45, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Given that we have a persistent LTA closing AFDs out of process and edit warring on AFD pages, is there any reason why we shouldn't set this filter to disallow at this point? Sugar Tax (talk) 21:58, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    Yes, there's a reason. I'll make an adjustment to see if we can't slow them down, but any further discussion is probably better suited to the mailing list since this is a private filter. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:35, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

    False negative by filter 1402

    [edit]

    Special:Diff/1342234944 added an archive.ph link but the edit was not disallowed. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 21:27, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

     Not done. That's intentional. We are not disallowing archive.today links on talk pages at this point. From an outbound traffic standpoint, article space is the primary issue. We will probably disallow it at some point when article space is in much better shape than it is right now, but we don't want to disallow discussions by people trying to replace archive.today links. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 21:34, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    Ok. I removed the link anyway because this site should not be linked to. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 21:35, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    @Daniel Quinlan Could we add a log-only filter for added archive.today links in non-content namespaces? SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 21:38, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
     Done. See 1401. I snarfed 1401 since it had no hits and wasn't needed anymore. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:16, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    Thanks! SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 22:21, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    No problem. I think we might be able to turn this into a warning filter, but let's see what the hits look like for a few days first. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:31, 7 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    @Daniel Quinlan: I tried testing it in my sandbox and it isn't triggering the filter. Any idea why? SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 02:40, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    Yes, I forgot to enable the filter! Fixed. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 02:43, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    Filter 1401's title should be revised since it does not log any edits, but warns. Codename Noreste (talkcontribs) 21:09, 9 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
    Adding a warning seems reasonable because all of the hits so far are edit requests and additions to drafts in user space. I added a custom warning template at MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning-archivetoday and enabled warnings. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:44, 8 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
