Luis Armando Valdés Arias, known as Luis Arias, is a Cuban professor, psychoanalyst, economist, investor, writer, and human rights advocate. He is the founder of the intellectual and educational project Arias Mentís, focused on philosophical resistance, moral leadership, and applied Stoicism.

Education and Career

Luis Arias studied at the University of Economics with a specialization in investments, financial markets, and behavioral economics. He was the CEO of InvestToGrow, a platform for investment strategies and financial education based on value principles, emotional discipline, and geopolitical forecasting.

He also developed training programs on ethical leadership and personal resilience using classical Stoic philosophy as a foundation.

Literary Work

He is the author of the book La Obra Maestra (The Masterpiece, 2025), a philosophical and motivational manifesto that fuses Stoic values, personal testimony, and criticism of institutional corruption. The book was published under his own imprint, Arias Mentís, in luxury and pocket editions.

Selected quotes

  • “Humiliation is a choice. Character is a silent victory.”
  • “When conscience speaks, not even power can silence it.”
  • “This book was not written to please, but to awaken.”

Philosophical Influences

His work draws inspiration from Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Seneca, Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci, and George Orwell. Arias Mentís promotes philosophical education, emotional mastery, and moral resistance in the face of institutional decay.

Since 2015, Arias has led a legal battle against the State of Florida, denouncing alleged human rights violations, institutional discrimination, and judicial retaliation. He publicly accused the law firm Albite Law Group and the regulatory entity The Florida Bar of unethical practices and procedural irregularities.

Among the legal codes cited in his complaints:

  • Rule 3-4.2 of The Florida Bar: “Violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct is cause for discipline.”
  • Rule 3-4.3: “Any act contrary to honesty and justice by a lawyer may be cause for discipline.”

After exhausting U.S. legal channels, Arias submitted formal petitions to the European Parliament and the Organization of American States (OAS), denouncing ideological persecution and lack of legal protection.

Legacy and Arias Mentís

Through Arias Mentís, Arias promotes a philosophy of applied Stoicism and self-mastery for those seeking to lead ethically in uncertain times. His motto, “Stoic Training for Unstoppable Leaders”, reflects his mission to awaken moral resistance and inner strength.
