Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Golf

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is an old revision of this page, as edited by AnomieBOT (talk | contribs) at 17:58, 13 December 2024 (Archiving closed XfDs (errors?): Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kai Trump (2nd nomination)). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Golf. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Golf|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Golf. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Sports.

The result was no consensus‎. Liz Read! Talk! 03:56, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Geoff Cottrill (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Fails WP:GNG. Being C-suite at a company is not an inherent designator of notability, especially for a company that isn't even in the Global 2000. Coverage is WP:ROUTINE industry reporting of the movement of executives, not WP:SIGCOV of the subject himself. Other coverage is in relation to who his daughter is or is WP:PROMO. Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

The result was speedy keep‎. Just Step Sideways (talk) 23:16, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby Greenwood (golfer) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)

A lot going on here. The primary reason is that it fails WP:V - no citations. And I think it clearly violates Third Party rules (i.e. WP:COI); almost certainly someone close to the subject created this. It reads like a CV. Lastly, this may violate WP: N; there is no indication that he was ever a PGA Tour member.

Clearly meets WP:NGOLF as he played on the PGA Tour for seven seasons. Leaning keep, but article obviously needs a lot of cleanup. pʰeːnuːmuː →‎ pʰiːnyːmyː → ‎ɸinimi → ‎fiɲimi 08:42, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I checked old media guides and discovered that Greenwood was a member of the PGA Tour for at least three seasons in the early 1970s. I would like to reverse my decision and would prefer that this page is not deleted. Apologies for not being more judicious earlier with the media guides and going over the deletion rules. Proposing pages for deletion is still relatively new to me. Chief disambiguator (talk) 21:33, 6 December 2024 (UTC)Chief disambiguator[reply]
