Canadian marines

Could I ask you to revert back in the Canadian section in the article on Marines if I promise to immediately provide references? Bluenose Gunner (talk) 18:34, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Bluenose Gunner: You're more than welcome to re-add the content with references and it's great that you want to. You can check out this page's history here to retrieve any content that has been removed. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:05, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
Could you do the revert to the last "Canadian" version and I will add the refs? I do not know how to do reversion with a smart phone Bluenose Gunner (talk) 19:15, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
@Bluenose Gunner I've undone the edit. Have at 'er! Hey man im josh (talk) 19:16, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for responding so quickly. Two refs added Bluenose Gunner (talk) 19:26, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
And thank you for your contributions!Hey man im josh (talk) 19:28, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

Here's a barnstar me mucker :)

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
For all the bloomin hard work you've done to keep vandalism off these endsStephanie921 (talk) 21:56, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Mucker, that's a new one to me! Getting strong British vibes from this post.
Thanks so much @Stephanie921, I really appreciate the Barnstar, they're absolutely wonderful to receive =) Hey man im josh (talk) 12:52, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
You're welcome :) Also yeah I'm English lmao. Mucker means mate. Would ya like me to update the barnstar count on your userpage? It says 11 but it's actually 14 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephanie921 (talkcontribs) 14:09, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you, I appreciate the intent and effort to be helpful, but it's actually 11 Barnstars, a goat, coffee, and a brownie, so I'm only counting the Barnstars in that box. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:32, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
Ooh ok, I didn't get that - ty! Stephanie921 (talk) 18:54, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Abortion in Vermont

That IP address at that talk page is threatening to file a Stonewalling complaint if they get reverted again. They've been misusing the policies to threaten people and said that since no-one responded to them they can revert the page. They also harassed me on my talk page. What do you suggest we do? I don't think this counts as Canvassing - since this isn't about wanting a desired outcome - but is rather about that IP violating the rules to get their own way Stephanie921 (talk) 14:13, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

While I wouldn't say that their message on your talk page was harassment or threatening, I can understand why you might feel that way.
I've written up a few replies to you today and I keep deleting them because I just don't know the best way to help in this instance and I don't want to steer you down the wrong path. Yes, the user is in dispute with several editors, but I can't point to anything to say that they're in the wrong. They're clearly knowledgeable on Wiki policy, more so than I am. As I advised VictimofEntropy, I think your best bet is to seek help from editors more experienced than I am at the WP:Villagepump or WP:Dispute resolution.
So long as you're editing based on good faith and you listen to feedback from administrators, I wouldn't be too concerned about them creating a post in WP:ANI. You may not like the end result, but unfortunately that's just how it goes sometimes. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:29, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
I thought it was harassment because they keep on acting as if I'm obligated to reply to them instantly and reverting their edits when I don't. They used me making other edits to justify that, when I hadn't even said I wasn't going to reply to them - I just edited other pages after their messages to me - and they used that as an excuse to try and mischaracterise my behaviour

and revert their edits even though I'm not obligated to respond to them before I edit other pages I reverted the first harassing instance on my talk but they then pinged me on my page to the Abortion in Vermont talk message threatening everybody. I have not reverted that ping Stephanie921 (talk) 14:14, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Ooh btw, I noticed you kept calling me 'they' when talking to FishAndChipper about me - so I'd like to clarify that my pronouns are she/her :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephanie921 (talkcontribs) 15:08, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

I sometimes prefer to just go the easy route and call everybody a they. Makes it easier personally, but I appreciate you reaching out to clarify. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:59, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
Oh ok, that's fair enough Josh. I thought u just didn't know my pronouns :) In that case you can call me they if u like Stephanie921 (talk) 18:02, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

why did you edit my sex worker again?

any reason? Volkan1881 (talk) 16:28, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

You removed a portion of the lead, removed a reference, and added a picture for some reason in a place where it's not an improvement. See your dif here. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:32, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Bishop's Castle

Re: "Some have described Bishop's Castle as the inevitable result of giving a schizophrenic access to construction equipment" [no citation]

Thanks for the feedback Josh. Sorry, I don't have a specific citation, but I can't believe nobody has said it before. It's rather obvious, isn't it? 174.51.103.111 (talk) 17:09, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Kiddo

User:InvadingInvader/kiddo - - - Just kidding man...thanks for all the work that you do for removing a-hole vandals. Consider this a cleverly-disguised barnstar ;) InvadingInvader (talk) 18:52, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Haha that caught me off guard, been a bit since I seen that copypasta. Thank you! Hey man im josh (talk) 19:40, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi

Earlier today you dropped an invitation to join Wikipedia. Sorry, I was editing logged out! Bellezzasolo Discuss 19:38, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Oh no problem, that happens from time to time. Made a user switch from an IP to a logged in account, I'm calling it a win! Hey man im josh (talk) 19:40, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Sorry

Sorry, I am from Poland and I did not know how to use wikipedia in another language - my error He writes from a translator Mam na imie Piotr 2A00:F41:2CDE:7B3B:64FD:B89:8C75:F6B7 (talk) 20:36, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Perhaps it's best to stick to editing on the Polish Wiki if you need to use a translator, and that translator is somehow accidently mass deleting content. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:47, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Template:Kansas City Chiefs roster

Hey please be careful when reverting. I don't know if it was an accident or intentional but the Carlos Dunlap transaction is official. The Chiefs announced it this afternoon.--Rockchalk717 23:28, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

@Rockchalk717, sorry about that, it was definitely accidental. You always know what's what for NFL templates and pages and I wouldn't have removed your edit intentionally. I don't even bother to fact check your changes because they're always right lol. One edit too far back when restoring >.< Hey man im josh (talk) 01:11, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
No worries I appreciate that though! I figured you just reverted too far.--Rockchalk717 03:20, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I appreciate your work against Vandalism and am also learning from you. Kudos and keep up the good work. Uricdivine (talk) 00:47, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
Thank you so much for the Barnstar and for noticing! Make sure to try to learn from multiple editors, especially the admins that edit. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:35, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Arnold Lodge School edit

Hello!

I noticed that you removed my edit for ALS as above, saying that it wasn’t an improvement and it wasn’t sourced. How would I go about sourcing such a thing? There are multiple job sites with reviews that say the same thing about the place, but I don’t know if that counts.

I would also have to disagree about if not bring an improvement, as I think seeing as it is true then just because it isn’t a good thing I don’t see why it’s not improving and adding to the content on the page.

All the best! InsidiousHappenings (talk) 06:45, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Job review websites typically wouldn't be considered reliable sources. They would also fall under opinions and bias that's usually removed from articles. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:09, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

I hear what you are saying. I don’t think I’ll be able to source this one. I know it to be true, but I can’t find a good source. I would however like to discuss you saying my content wasn’t adding anything. That is an opinion, and I don’t think that opinions should be a part of the moderating process. If opinions are part of any moderating process, certain viewpoints can be favoured over others and should not fall into the decision making process. Thanks for your time. InsidiousHappenings (talk) 09:48, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Mentioning that there's been higher than normal turnover at a school really isn't relevant to an encyclopedia. It's giving undue weight to a subject that most, frankly, don't care about unless they're local. If they're local, and it's relevant to them, they likely already know. It's like mentioning that people in a city really like a certain restaurant in the area, is that really an improvement? Hey man im josh (talk) 20:57, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Senior LPGA Championship

Yeah i wasn't sure if keeping the location map was necessary only because of the tournament potentially moving to a different site each year. Maybe just have a location map of all the sites, but we'll see. 98.186.148.50 (talk) 14:42, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Wade Burleson

You corrected an "undo" by BestOkieHistory on the Wade Burleson Wikipedia page, then later stated it was in "error." I worked hard on sourcing the Sexual Abuse Case of the Southern Baptist Convention, having primary sources attached to the article on Wade Burleson, who led the fight. I'm not sure why BestOkieHistory deleted my work, but it is very frustrating. In looking through the history page of Wade Burleson, it seems BestOkieHistory has deleted primary source material on several occasions. Thank you for your fight against vandalism, and I would ask that you keep your eye on BestOkieHistory. SamBullion (talk) 22:21, 29 July 2022 (UTC)

Hey @SamBullion, I undid an edit because I thought they were a sockpuppet of another user. I created a sockpuppet investigation but quickly realized I was incorrect in my belief, so I restored the edit which I reverted, as the reason for my revert was no longer valid.
For the content dispute, as it appears to be, you should ping them from the talk page of the article to discuss their changes. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and sometimes discussions need to be had. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:00, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Coaching trees

Josh, we've had extensive discussion about coaching trees in the past. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Coaching trees. Jweiss11 (talk) 21:41, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Jweiss11, thank you for the link, I'll add it to my references in case this ever comes up again. I've skimmed through it and there was a lot of good discussion had about this. Given my knowledge of their work and experience in the area, I typically always defer to CBL62, Eagles247, and Bagumba, all of whom opposed the mass addition of coaching trees, and all of whom made valid points that I agreed with. Thanks again for bringing this up, I'll start self-reverting. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:51, 30 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. If you can find multiple, reliable sources explicitly discussing a given coach's tree, that's fair game for inclusion, but it should be well-sourced. I would focused the highly influential, innovating, and hall of fame type coaches first. Jweiss11 (talk) 22:01, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Isiah Pacheco

Please tell me Isaih Pacheco to Isiah Pacheco wasn't a cut-and-paste move. Certes (talk) 23:02, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

It was, and I'm a little disappointed. Primefac (talk) 11:15, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
Hey @Primefac, thank you for merging the histories. I've grown a lot over the last two months on Wiki since doing that, branching outwards and trying new things, and that was around the time I started doing so. Unfortunately part of that is I've made some mistakes, it's been a part of the growing process. I feel ashamed over that, I'm not sure why I'd be so stupid as to copy-and-paste move, but I can tell you that my intention and goal is always to not make the same mistake twice. Luckily I'm pretty confident that's the only page I've done that with due to a special circumstance. I now understand the process for copy-and-paste moves and merges as I had a discussion about it not too long ago with another admin. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:05, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
No worries. To be honest I didn't look at the date, so if it was a while ago that makes a bit more sense. Live and learn, eh? Primefac (talk) 12:16, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
Hey @Certes, I'm actually surprised I did that, it was really stupid of me and it won't be a mistake I'll be making again. Thankfully Primefac has merged it the histories. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:56, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
I've seen plenty of more experienced editors cut and paste. It's the obvious way to move a page, far easier both to discover and to carry out than requesting an admin to remove the destination page. In fact, I'm amazed it doesn't happen more often. Certes (talk) 19:00, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

Failed SD?

User:Mikayla_Caitlin still visible, even though all your other August 1st SDs went through. (I am seeing MC because I am in the Mentor program, and she showed up as one of my new accounts to monitor.) David notMD (talk) 08:41, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

Page was deleted under U5, then recreated by the user. Primefac (talk) 11:16, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
Hey @David notMD, thanks for bringing it up but as Primefac said, the user recreated the page after deletion. This happens sometimes, and I've nominated the page again as it appears to still violate U5. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:06, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

A Barnstar for you!

The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar
I know this is the third Barnstar I've given you, but I think this one is well deserved. You're a tireless contributor, and I've noticed several instances where you jump right in and help resolve conflicts, work with others, and following your name around has even helped me learn more about what to do and not do in many situations. Most importantly, you have done excellent work with reverting vandalism and defending Wikipedia's principles. Thank you!! SPF121188 (talk this way) (contribs) 14:43, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

Hahahaha that definitely threw me off for a second. Thanks for the laugh. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:54, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
No problem! You're beating me 24/7 to reverting vandalism so I thought you deserved the laugh! :) Dinoz1 (chat?) 12:32, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
Thanks lol. I never understood how people were beating me to revert constantly until I got Huggle. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to it it makes things a whole lot easier and efficient. Unfortunately you can't use the program properly if you don't have rollback. It looks like you do a good job of warning users after a revert, if you're interested in fighting vandalism I highly encourage you to apply for rollback permissions and then eventually try Huggle out. Even if you don't succeed in your application, the responding admins are usually great at helping people understand where they need to improve in order to get the permission. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:49, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
Tysm! Most editors don't seem to notice (or care) about my edits. What's funny is that I'm actually training for rollback permissions! However I need to make myself a bit more familiar with Wikipedia's rules. I'm technically editing at a risk, so I'm probably taking a WikiBreak soon and try applying for reviewer in January 2023. Thanks for letting me know, and keep up the amazing work! Dinoz1 (chat?) 13:40, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

To Josh

I just wanted to tell you the fact that the caste system in India is extremely complex particularly in Eastern India. So , it is not cool to just mention half wit knowledge. I am a Patra too and I must say that there are many types. 49.37.39.205 (talk) 16:23, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Your edit was absolutely biased. Please see WP:NPOV. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:13, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Please show me where it is biased. I am stating these facts based on the actions. 149.20.199.145 (talk) 18:20, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Gestures to your entire edit
  • "Ted declare that he does not give a shit about anyone in or around DC"
  • "He is an awful owner"
  • "By the time he finally sells the team, he will have successfully destroyed the whole fandom."
All of that is biased and your entire addition is also unsourced. None of that appears to be taking a neutral point of view. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:23, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

BLES BRIDGES

I made a change and I was the one who originally helped the Bridges family to update this info, as for the fact that I own Bles Bridges memorabilia, all off his information I have studied and followed over more than 30 years. MJ Produksies (talk) 19:13, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

AIV report

Hey man. I was just having a chat with Daniel Case on his talk page, and I was wondering if you could clarify your report Special:Diff/1101974728. Did you mean to say biography articles instead of user pages? Or do you know of any abuse outside of main space? Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:10, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Zzuuzz, that's a brain fart on my part. I've not seen them making those types of edits on user pages, just articles in the main space. I opened up an SPI here. I now have name to put to the vandal when making reports, which will hopefully help the vandal get dealt with more quickly when they reappear. Hey man im josh (talk) 22:31, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

I've left you a welcome message on your talk page with some helpful information for new editors. Try the sandbox out! Hey man im josh (talk) 18:56, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

Do you?

Hello Josh, I came across you thorough an article AFD discussion I also participated. Wanted to ask if you do review articles I had one waiting Draft:Portable (musician). Do have a great day. Gabrielt@lk 00:53, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Gabriel601, I don't participate in the AfC process normally, but I appreciate you reaching out.
One thing I want to note though. In looking at the edit history, it appears you submitted the article for review with no changes made since it was moved to the draft space. You should flush it out further and add more information that proves notability. If it wasn't ready for the main space before, why would it be ready now with no changes made? Hey man im josh (talk) 00:59, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

no problem

Hi, thanks for the message. it's interesting how quickly you reacted to edits to a Pelosi page. The reason i started editing is because i noticed several people who had "right-wing extremist" or "white supremacist" and other such specifically NON neutral tags that i figured it would only be fair to make sure these labels were being evenly distributed. I agree with you that wikipedia should be a neutral and informational website & i hope you will apply your standards evenly. I also think that you are missing lots of important details to Mr. Pelosi's page & hope that some of these will be included. Thanks. 71.25.108.161 (talk) 14:33, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

i left several facts on Mr. Pelosi's page that are easily verifiable. I am again interested as to why you are so quick to blanch Mr. Pelosi's page... 71.25.108.161 (talk) 14:43, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Are you implying I'm somehow affiliated with Pelosi or have an agenda to push? Your edits simply jumped to the top of vandalism queue on the Huggle program that I use.
In my revert I mentioned you should provide reliable sources as citations and stick to a neutral tone. To elaborate a bit further;
  • "Potentially corrupt" - not neutral and speculative
  • "has been implicated by the FBI in 6 cases surrounding fraud and bribery." - no sources provided
  • Removed the word "allegedly" from "Pelosi was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol" when it should remain until it's proven or he admits it
  • "...who was in a neck brace due to swimming injury & had warned him about driving too fast on the winding road" - no sources provided
These are just some of the issues I have with your edits. Please review the links, as I reverted your edits based on those policies as well as WP:BLPREMOVE. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:18, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Sorry

Look, I'm sorry for snapping at you the way I did. I just got a little upset. I hope we can get this all sorted out. 92.11.191.227 (talk) 16:29, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

That's some good timing, as I finished posting an apology on your user page only to find I had a notification (about this post). You were in the right, but please try to assume good faith moving forward. I believe that everybody who reverted you seemed to be acting in good faith and we all need to work together.
Thank you. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:35, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
This is kind of an ongoing shit storm, at least it was until El C protected the article. No one looks good here: almost no one explained in sufficient detail why they removed or restored the information, and almost everyone just seemed to hit "revert" reflexively. It is a good opportunity to reflect on the fact that sometimes it's good to take it slow. Drmies (talk) 17:02, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
Hey, @Drmies, it absolutely is. I think Serols and I were under the same impression of WP:SPOILERS. Unfortunately, with so many edits in a short amount of time, I missed the one edit summary that actually mentioned the show hadn't started yet. If a trout slapping all around was ever deserved, it would be now. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:12, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
No worries. I'm not looking to break anyone's balls, but it's a valuable learning experience for some editors, I hope. Take care, Drmies (talk) 17:20, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
It is. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:20, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello Hey man im josh, the spoiler is allowed, see here Wikipedia:spoiler. My opinion is, that your revert was not ok. Regards Serols (talk) 16:46, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

The show hasn't even aired yet, and we don't even know if the "spoiler" is real or not. It could easily be fake - something similar happened on the page for Season 2 of the British version. 92.11.191.227 (talk) 16:52, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
Hello 92.11.191.227, I am satisfied with the answer. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:55, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Muqattaʿat

Hi Josh,

You removed my edit that was meant to provide some understanding to a section. Apparently there is some need to clarify that section, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Muqatta%CA%BFat#Modern_Research — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.93.27.208 (talkcontribs)

Hey @176.93.27.208, the issue is that the content that you added needs a reliable source (WP:CITE, WP:RS) added along with your text. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:40, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

About Kostroma

  • Hello! The fact is that Slavic paganism does not know such a deity as Kostroma. She is a rather late ritual character.

However, in the neo-pagan environment, there is a widespread tendency to pass off folklore characters as Slavic deities. The plot presented in the article is a falsification of Asov, one of the main neo-pagan figures, who composes "Slavic myths" and passes them off as ancient. In particular, he based the story about Kupala and Kostroma on a folk legend about the twins Ivan and Marya. And in general, not one whole Slavic myth of this size has come down to us, only their small fragments and echoes in epics. Perhaps my phrases sound a little incorrect, since I write through a translator. - Эйга-фридур (talk) 07:43, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022

New Page Review queue August 2022

Hello Hey man im josh,

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination
MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
Open letter to the WMF
The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
TIP - Reviewing by subject
Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
New reviewers
The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

Help with Vandalism on Canadian Psychological Association page

Hello HMIJ, I appreciated you correcting the mass-blanking (vandalism) by CPA consultants and affiliates a couple months ago when they removed 5 entire sections from the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) page. Those sections were unflattering for CPA but were well-documented showing deception and policies for healthcare workers that actually allowed them to harm and kill people. Under the section on Warfare and The Use of Torture, the American Psychological Association (APA) page shows that APA got in a lot of trouble for the same deception, policies and harm against human beings. (And those APA sections have not been deleted.)

Within the last 24 hours, the CPA page has again had the same five sections (1.1 - 1.5) completely deleted. I think this is the 9th time it has happened. This time it was by an editor named Wugapodes, who seems to have made hundreds of edits on Wikipedia, and has a long list of contributors he has blocked. I don't want him simply to block me, if I try to correct the historical record on the CPA page, while responding to his concerns. I am sure you know more about how this works than I do; are you able to look into whether his mass-blanking to completely erase that whole history was acceptable (or is again vandalism)? Thanks a lot! PsycProf (talk) 22:07, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

-
I have not even made any changes yet, and Wugapodes has already threatened to block me, on his Talk page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Wugapodes PsycProf (talk) 12:10, 7 August 2022 (UTC)
Hey @PsycProf, you should definitely listen to what Wugapodes is saying to you. They're an extremely experienced user/administrator. Hey man im josh (talk) 10:56, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your comment HMIJ. It was just concerning to see Wugapodes delete the entire 5 sections, claiming that it was (in part) because of a non-neutral point of view (and threatening to block me before I even responded!). Wugapodes has not responded to my replies that it was factual well-documented historical information. His claim that discussions of The Nazi Doctors book re medical ethics is a non-neutral point of view is like saying that the Wikipedia coverage of The Holocaust is a non-neutral point of view. In any case, although Wugapodes may have been heavy-handed and sarcastic in his explanations, I appreciate all the helpful comments that others have provided about this. I will start by re-adding a short section in the CPA history, with solid published references. Thanks again! PsycProf (talk) 19:58, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

Why not a {{db-author}}? Cheers Adakiko (talk) 10:59, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Adakiko, I had always seen it as a tag that should be used on your own page and not other's pages. However, I just read up on the G7 tag and there was some language I hadn't remembered about it.

If the sole author blanks a page other than a userspace page, a category page, or any type of talk page, this can be taken as a deletion request.

You're right, even though technically G3 is accurate, G7 would have been more appropriate. Thanks for asking, I'm still working on getting better at taking pages with CSD tags and it helped me learn. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:07, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
I was just curious if you had a specific reason for the db-g3. That's all. The db-g3 resulted in the page being deleted. Justlettersandnumbers deleted it as db-g7. Cheers! Adakiko (talk) 12:26, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Roy Hamilton

Hi, the information I received about Elvis Presley and his estate sending money to Roy Hamilton’s widow Myrna every year until the 2000’s comes from one of Roy’s grandsons on Lipstick Alley. This is the comment I’m referencing:

"But what I will say is that Elvis always made it clear on how much of an influence he was on his vocals and delivery, especially on ballads. He apparently felt so indebted to him that when my grandfather died unexpectedly, he started secretly sending money yearly to my grandmother. He never mentioned it when he called or visited her. It appeared to be from the record label as royalties but she only learned it was him after his death due to the estate informing her. That money didn't stop until the 2000s, decades from when it began.

Was this due to him feeling guilty for his financial success knowing my grandfather and other black artists should've been just as financially successful as he was? Possibly but it is what it is. Take that for what it's worth."

Unfortunately there’s not an article this quote is featured in. But I’m not making it up. Is it possible for this information to still be included in the article? 2601:147:8500:E810:810F:3C49:61A6:D8D5 (talk) 15:49, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi @2601:147:8500:E810:810F:3C49:61A6:D8D5, unfortunately you'll need a source, see WP:Verifiability and WP:RS Hey man im josh (talk) 15:54, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Hi sorry I’m unable to reply in your comment. I understand about needing a source. But in the part about Elvis sending flowers to Roy’s widow, would it not be okay to briefly mention Elvis started sending money to her as well? I wouldn’t get detailed by mentioning it. 2601:147:8500:E810:810F:3C49:61A6:D8D5 (talk) 16:02, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

CSD G13s

Hello, Hey man im josh,

Since you have been regularly tagging expiring drafts, I thought I'd share with you one peculiarity with them that is coming up at the end of the month. Because we are working on a six month time lag and the months of the year have varying days (from 28 to 31), there are months when we have days that there will be no tagging and there are months when we tag drafts from 2 or more days on the last day of the month. In August, it is the former. February normally has 28 days so that means on August 29, 30 and 31, there will be no expiring drafts to tag for speedy deletion because there are no corresponding days in the month of February. And, of course, we go by the UTC time clock so, depending on where you live, these UTC days and times may not correspond to your local time. For example, I live on the West Coast of the U.S. so that means I'd stop tagging drafts on Sunday, August 28th at 5 pm PDT (the end of the February 28, 2022 day, UTC time) and start up again on Wednesday, August 31 at 5 pm PDT (the beginning of the September 1, 2022 day, UTC time). And in September, the situation will be reversed as March has 31 days and September has only 30 so we end up with an extra day at the end of the month to tag.

I don't know whether you use the SDZeroBot list or look at Category:AfC G13 eligible soon submissions to find expiring drafts but the distinctions of day and time changes isn't always very clear and it's easy to just move on to the next day's list or the next draft without remembering this monthly quirk we face. So, I'm highlighting it today, two weeks early, just to remind you in advance because tagging expiring drafts seems like it's become part of your daily routine. Thanks again! Liz Read! Talk! 19:21, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Liz, thank you for bringing this up. G13 tagging has indeed become part of my daily routine of tasks and it's great to have that information laid out for me. I so very much appreciate your helpfulness! Hey man im josh (talk) 19:28, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Jerome M. Eisenberg

Hello Hey man im josh. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jerome M. Eisenberg, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A NY Times obit is a credible indication of notability sufficient for A7. Take to AfD if required. . Thank you. GedUK  14:59, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Ged UK, fair enough, thank you for letting me know so that I can avoid making that mistake again. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:00, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
No worries. The 'keep' bar is lower at CSD, so it only has to be a credible assertion that he's notable (they've won an award, they're in a band that had a hit, etc). The notability requirements are much higher, but they can only be discussed at AfD. GedUK  15:15, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Good afternoon josh

Dear Josh, so I have created a Wikipedia draft on here, I have no idea how to submit it or send it for review my an experienced author, would you be able to move this into my sandbox so I can send for a review or please do this for me as I have no idea how, Many thanks for reading

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Life_After_War_:_Iraq_(film)?markasread=254278387&markasreadwiki=enwiki Mynameismaria (talk) 16:13, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Mynameismaria, I added the submission template to Draft:Life After War : Iraq (film) for you. If you still want it moved to a sandbox for you just let me know. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:28, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Thank you Josh for your reply, I may have more articles in the future so will get back to you soon, many thanks & I hope you have a good day Mynameismaria (talk) 16:52, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Sure, no problem @Mynameismaria. In the future, if you're missing the draft submission template, you can add {{AfC submission|T}} to the top of an article to add the draft submission template yourself. If you have trouble with it you're welcome to pop back in to ask for a hand. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:57, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Many Thanks, I have just added some tags I see as relevant regarding this topic, please have a look if you think it’s notable & if you can please let me know what else to do add, thank you Mynameismaria (talk) 17:16, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Good morning Josh, I have tried to upload a template and I am unable to this for some reason as it won’t hyperlink, would you be able to add a template on this page too

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Zain_Ullah_(actor)

And also please review these both and let me know if I am missing any citations, thank you Josh !!!! Mynameismaria (talk) 13:03, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Mynameismaria, were you trying to copy my text which included tl in the {{AfC submission}} template? Hey man im josh (talk) 13:08, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Indeed I was, however it just showed on the draft page as text at the top, Many thanks for your reply Mynameismaria (talk) 13:11, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
That makes sense. The "tlp|" portion in front of any template allows me to type/link the template, whereas not included that would embed the template on the page.
So, in short, include the text {{AfC submission|T}} without the "tlp|" portion at the top of the page and the template will be properly embedded. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:14, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Sure thank you Josh I will try this method as suggested, Also i created the article but for some reason was denied, would you be able to help me out and review this again or advise me on what else to add, thank you

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Life_After_War_:_Iraq_(film) Mynameismaria (talk) 19:25, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Mynameismaria, read the feedback from the decliner. They'll explain why they did not move your draft to the namespace. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:29, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

I think we edit-conflicted, because both of us saw that it was a BLP with no references. I will remove the BLPPROD tag. I don't disagree with you, and was wondering whether to BLPPROD it or draftify it. Carry on with New Page Patrol, thanks. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:36, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

Woops! Looks like we did. Thanks for bringing my attention to it and letting me know. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:38, 17 August 2022 (UTC)

August 2022

@Hey man im josh: No worries. I have reverted the comments made by this IP 31.133.53.94. Will make sure he is blocked from editing since he is making disruptive edits. Theoder2055 (talk) 13:16, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Theoder2055, just be careful about removing legitimate comments when you do that in the future. I've already reported the user to WP:AIV after issueing a final warning. They're simply refusing to communicate in English. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:18, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Even though it is considered vandalism since he cannot make such kinds of comments in an articles. That can be in any language also which includes English as well. Theoder2055 (talk) 13:21, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're referring to. I'm referring to you reverting to a point on my talk page and accidently removing this comment made by another user. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:24, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Sic is the page in which he made comments. And also I came to know that the language the IP used is Russian. You can look at the edits that he made in that page Sic. Please look at the comment here. Theoder2055 (talk) 13:27, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
I understand that comments in a foreign language should be removed from the article, I was referring to your revert on my talk page, not in an article. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:32, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Oh I see. Theoder2055 (talk) 13:39, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Yo

Your blowing my mind!!! Are you a bot?!! Is there anything your using that will make you revert vandalism that was committed 10 seconds ago? Like any page I enter to revert your there already no matter the kind of seconds.

UricdivineTalkToMe 14:23, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Check out WP:Huggle, it's wonderful once you get used to it! Problem is that you need WP:Rollback permissions in order to properly use it. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:24, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

I already have huggle but I rarely use it because it is hard for it to load cause am using Mobile and by the time is done loading the Vandalism is already reverted. UricdivineTalkToMe 14:27, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

For the rollback am applying on December hopefully by then I have completed my cvua and gained more experience in reverting warning and identifying vandalism. UricdivineTalkToMe 14:29, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Ah yeah, dealing with vandalism on mobile is way less easy than dealing with it on a PC. Keep at it, your anti-vandalism work is appreciated =) Hey man im josh (talk) 14:30, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
😂one question tho, the thing about mobile being faster was that sarcasm 🌝? UricdivineTalkToMe 19:00, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Oh I wouldn't ever say mobile is faster for dealing with vandalism. I just said it was less easy. Huggle is super fast for dealing with vandalism. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:05, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

Irreversible Damage

Hi! I saw that you put the language regarding "not backed by credible science" back in the description of "rapid onset gender dysphoria." Your note says that there are conflicting studies. That's correct. But that's not what the post says, the post says "not backed by credible scienctific evicence." If you want to include, "there are conflicting studies," I think that's correct and a fair revision. Thank you for your consideration. RaySmall88 (talk) 16:25, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

@RaySmall88, as mentioned, take it to the article talk page so that others who are interested in the discussion may participate. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:26, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Josh, I did that. Since you were the one that undid the revisions, it seems that you believe the language is appropriate? RaySmall88 (talk) 19:46, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Yes I do, and it appears I'm not the only one. As the other editors mentioned, please read the sources attached. Do not try to re-add the content (as you did) until the talk page conversation has run its course and consensus is achieved. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:25, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

THANKS!!

It was a mistake, I wanted to try the redwarn then I saw that suitcase option. I thought it will show me then I will press okay before it rollbacks. I wanted to revert my revert but the network was slow and as usual you beat me to it :) UricdivineTalkToMe 13:05, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

No worries at all, I figured you had just accidently done so and not intentionally re-added the user's test edit. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:06, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Reverted edits by 193.235.91.227 (talk): not adhering to neutral point of view (HG) (3.4.10)

Sure, it's somewhat ambiguous. But for reference, the source from 2019 was:

https://liu.se/en/news-item/uppgradering-av-domen-pa-visualiseringscenter-campus-norrkoping---itn "Professor Anders Ynnerman of the Division for Media and Information Technology at LiU, proudly guides the media on the first demonstration of what is probably the world’s best dome for 3D image quality." 193.235.91.227 (talk) 12:01, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @193.235.91.227, subjective statements must include inline citations for verifiability. If you include the source I don't see myself reverting your edit again. See WP:Citing sources for further info on how to cite a source. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:05, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Archer0344, who is we? You need to adhere to MOS:LAYOUT. You may improve existing sections, but moving the lead of the article down below the person's works is not appropriate. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:42, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

142.189.96.88

I see this is a usual shtick for you, calling any edit you're paid to block "POV". Pemberton was a CSA veteran and a morphine addict, and it's in the lede of his own article. Now, if he is to be mentioned at The Coca-Cola Company, are you suggesting that certain facts about the man are verboten? Is this the freedom our forefathers died for? Take a hike, pal. 142.189.96.88 (talk) 13:35, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

So you're of the mindset that I'm being paid by Coca-Cola because I disagree with you? You're giving undue weight to a single fact about a person. It's completely irrelevant to the article lead that you're trying to introduce it to.
"Is this the freedom our forefathers died for?" - This did get a chuckle out of me. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:38, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: User:NationalHousingCorporation

Hello Hey man im josh, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:NationalHousingCorporation, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not really G11. It isn't a for-profit company, it is a govt organization that may meet WP:GNG, its just a draft in user space. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Dennis Brown - 11:55, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out @Dennis Brown. On review, I see how it may not qualify for G11. Are there cases where it's appropriate for a regular user like me to move a user's main page to a draft article?
Followup, do you think it still would have qualified for CSD under U5? Hey man im josh (talk) 12:00, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
  • People use their main user page for drafts all the time, which isn't so bad. I keep all my drafts in my own space, not draft, but not my user page. The username is a violation, so in the end, the account will likely get unused. In cases where username isn't a problem, you can move to draft if it seems to be viable, as this one was. Maybe. Then leave a personal note on their page explaining and offering help. The main thing is the lack of promotional language, which G11 requires. Just as A7 requires a claim of notability. Govt agencies are often notable because the press covers them, so are more often AFD bound instead of CSD bound, if they really are obscure. I don't think you did anything wrong, it just didn't apply. Btw, U5 doesn't really apply here. That is more reserved for people that use their page as a link page for their Twitter, Facebook, Instagram pages and other things that are only related to their off-wiki life, ie: their user page is unrelated to wiki activities and only talks about their off-wiki life. The main takeaway is that CSD is really only for pages that obviously don't belong under the various criteria. It it isn't blindingly obvious, then it doesn't qualify. Dennis Brown - 12:10, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation, I'm always glad when an admin reaches out to help clarify something like this for me because it helps me to do better. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:18, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Slouching toward gamorrah, bork book review

Josh there is no reason to have the review of the libertarian journal, which is obscure, and therefore irrelevant to most people. You put it back because it is attacking a conservatives book so therefore it is good. This is the frequent liberal bias I see too often anymore on Wikipedia. That journal would never give a great review to someone like bork who holds contradictory reviews. Like I said though if it attacks a conservative, it is absolutely necessary to keep in an article. This place is becoming a political organization run by young people who feel the ends justify the means, even if the means are unethical liea and the ends horseshit like your edits 148.59.145.17 (talk) 12:33, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

I didn't put anything back. I reverted your edit, in which you added, "SO WHAT? THAT JOURNAL REPRESENTS AN OBSCURE VIEWPOINT AND IS IRRELEVANT" on to the end of a paragraph. Weird that you immediately jump to liberal bias when someone simply removed your unnecessary commentary. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:37, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Von Miller edit reversion

Hello, Josh. I edited a bit in the Von Miller article to make it grammatically correct, but it appears you reverted it. The first change I made was to fix the comma splice after “Dallas”; you can’t connect two independent clauses with just a comma. You need a coordinating conjunction, a semicolon, or a period. (I think a period works best in this instance because the two clauses aren’t too closely related.)

The second change I made (changing “ran track” to “running track”) was to make it parallel with “playing for the DeSoto Eagles.” If you take some things out, it’s easier to see how it’s awkward: “He attended DeSoto High School, playing football and ran track.” To make all the verbs parallel, you could change it to “He attended DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas, where he played for the DeSoto Eagles high school football team and ran track.” That’s probably a better edit than the one I made originally. Jbuc14 (talk) 15:10, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Jbuc14, thanks for your work. I like your second iteration better, that I see you've applied to Von Miller's page already, and I don't intend on reverting it. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:14, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Fun SLS Fact

Despite a nominal increase in overall thrust the SLS used for ARTEMIS I can lift only 27 Metric Tons to the Moon which compares poorly to the Saturn V ability to launch 41 Metric Tons to the moon. Most of the lost lunar transport capacity is caused by increased safety requirements, among other things the much higher weight of the Orion capsule with an additional seat, improved shielding, and miscellaneous equipment along with the corresponding requirement to upgrade the Launch Abort System which itself added an additional 8 tons to the initial lift off weight. 151.166.54.121 (talk) 15:30, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @151.166.54.121, if you believe the section is relevant then you should not giving it a title that includes "fun fact", as it would then be associated with WP:TRIVIA. You're welcome to add it back with an appropriate section title and some reliable sources.

CSD U5s

Hey, Hey man im josh,

If you see a User page that has what is clearly a Draft article on it, even if it is about the editor, please consider moving it to Draft space rather than tagging these pages for deletion. If it's just a page that is in the wrong namespace, it's often better to move it than tag it for deletion, especially if it is a new editor who is still learning what User space is for. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 02:26, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Liz, thanks for reaching out. I'll work on getting better with moving pages instead of nominating for U5. I think I'll apply for page mover within the next few days so I don't leave redirects behind as user's main user page. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:46, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Sort keys

Allo guvna :)

I just moved the page The Chess Game of the Wind to Chess of the Wind (the film's main title). I need to update the keys but idk what they are or how to do that, even though I looked it up. Could u please help me Stephanie921 (talk) 18:34, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Stephanie921, are you talking about the redirect tags? The main one is the page move tag that's automatically created. I use WP:Capricorn tp add redirect tags usually. I added one for as an alternative name to your created redirect. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:26, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
I wasn't talking about that but I appreciate you adding the alternate name and telling me about redirect tags :)
If you go onto 'Page information' - say for Chess of the Wind - you will see a row which says 'Default Sort Key'. Chess of the Wind's sort key is currently 'Chess Game Of The Wind, The' because that's what it was before the page was moved. After I moved the page, the page saying the move was successful told me it was vital to update the sort key (in addition to another key I can't currently remember). I couldn't do it on that page however, and there were no instructions. Stephanie921 (talk) 22:58, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
Oh sorry @Stephanie921, that was a bit of a derp by me. If you edit an article, right above the categories at the bottom of the edit space, you'll sometimes see a default sort key parameter. It should be below nav boxes but above the categories. Currently I see the defaultsort key for that page listed as "DEFAULTSORT:Chess Game of the Wind, The" between curly brackets. Hey man im josh (talk) 10:56, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
Lmto no worries. Cheers guvna, I've updated it now! Although do u know what the other thing I was told to update is? And what is a sort key anyway? Stephanie921 (talk) 20:32, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

Please help me with a move of the article

@Hey man im josh: Hi. I have never made a move so please help me change the name of the item to Panmure Gordon. So that the new redirect that was made in 2010 is no longer valid. Thx Tysska (talk) 07:52, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Tysska,
Moving pages is easy when there's nothing that exists at the destination. However, given that there is something at the destination, you should request a move using Template:Requested move on the page you would like to move. Then the request can be reviewed by somebody who can move the page over the redirect. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:00, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Hey man im josh. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 09:53, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Jersey number

Googling when I was reviewing the edit history I found this which suggests his Eagles number will be 23 now? Steven Walling • talk 02:31, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Steven Walling, thanks for reaching out and sharing that source, I was wondering where the number came from. Since he implies he'll be #23, and the Eagles list him as #22, it's hard to tell what his number will actually be. This seems like one of those situations where we're just going to have to wait and see what number he's wearing in practice since people making changes based on either source aren't technically wrong. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:27, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
Well that worked itself out, he's now #23 on the Eagles website and someone must have just entered his number in incorrectly at first. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:18, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

SD of User talk:59abcd

Hi, Just wanted to confirm why you put the SD tag on my user page. The image of the man is not myself - been on the Commons for a while and I just picked it up since looked so amusing. Also just enjoy the Karelo-Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic flags too so though it would be quite fun to have a bit of a silly tongue-in-check page! I have had an account in the past with over 10k edits but vanished it legitimately since don't have much intention to actually return to significant editing. 59abcd (talk) 17:19, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello @59abcd. I believe the message left on your talk page adequately explains why I nominated the page. Please see WP:NOTWEBHOST. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:28, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
I don't really understand how it fails that. None of the content is mine - it's all from the Commons (and has been there for a while) and it certainly is not extensive (just a few pictures). 59abcd (talk) 17:32, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
It was primarily because your user page was not really related to Wikipedia in any way, but instead was expressing your personal views. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:18, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey man

Hey Hey!

So I noticed that you edited after my Beyoncé redirects that I made and I have concerns. In my opinion because "Cuff It", for example, is only one song its unnecessary disambiguation redirects don't also need to be 'R from songs'. Because its only one song, not three. Let me know what you think!😌

Hey @Tree Critter, in my opinion, it can be both. I personally see no issue with a redirect having multiple tags. Thanks for reaching out to talk about it though, just in case I am making some kind of mistake =P Hey man im josh (talk) 11:43, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Taken Jersey Numbers (NFL)

I just want to let you know that you reverted my edits about taken jersey numbers, and just because that jersey number is from a team website, doesn’t mean it’s 100% true. Injuries are no exceptions for taken jersey numbers, because usually when they come off IR, they usually switch numbers unless the player that took his number has been waived or traded. One person can take one jersey number during the regular season, not two. Thank you for understanding. ReaganHoang10 (talk) 22:12, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

@ReaganHoang10, regarding your claim of players usually changing numbers when they come off IR, that's completely untrue. Players on the main roster, including IR, have priority over practice squad players.
Team websites are ABSOLUTELY the most reliable for player numbers. I'm now very curious on where you would say is more reliable. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:49, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

How do we know? One time in 2021 Lynn Bowden Jr. was on IR for the Miami Dolphins and his number was #6, but it was taken by Trill Williams, so when he came off IR the next season, he switched to #3. So 75% of the time players switch numbers when their number is taken because they are injured, unless the other player that took the number gets waived, traded, or retired. ReaganHoang10 (talk) 14:52, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Where are you getting this 75% figure from? You have one example of this happening. I'll happily yield if you can find something official that states a player on the practice squad has priority for numbers over a player on IR. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:00, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

And preseason jersey number rules are different, because 2 players on the same side of the ball can’t have the same number, but in the regular season only 1 player can have a number. ReaganHoang10 (talk) 14:58, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Players on the practice squad are not considered part of the roster. Players coming off IR typically go directly to the roster or they end up being released and then added back to the practice squad. So players on IR are, essentially, on the regular team while players on the practice squad are not. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:01, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

The 75% part is approximate. And how do we know practice squad players could choose any number they want, despite the number being taken? ReaganHoang10 (talk) 15:02, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

It's unclear to me where you're getting this approximation from.
Usually the goal is to avoid it in case a practice squad player is elevated to the main roster. However, because of pre-season roster numbers, sometimes players end up keeping the same number until they are called up. Also consider that there's a very large price to pay for players to change their jersey numbers. Players on the regular roster, and IR, will usually have jerseys for sale whereas practice squad players are much less likely to have them for sale. This makes it easy and free for a practice squad player to change their number while players on the regular roster cannot do so without a heavy fee associated with it. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:08, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

I don’t know where you got that from. ReaganHoang10 (talk) 14:54, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

You're an experienced enough editor that I'm sure you can see it's clearly not reliable. I actually advised that editor back in July on my talkpage to stop using this Twitter account and they apparently didn't get the message.--Rockchalk717 04:56, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Rockchalk717, yes, I've had problems with them using reliable information. Oh great, a Twitter account, which is not considered a reliable source, and only had 768 followers. That's definitely not something I'd trust over a team's website. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:51, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

That was the third time you made that change after I reverted it with an explanation and sources. I provided multiple sources for Andrew Brown's position but you have failed to provide any. You did not communicate, you just kept making the change while I tried to tell you why that change was wrong. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:15, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Would you please take a look at these edits? Sort of seems like some whitewashing. Claiming it's blp issue, but I think wp:TWITTER should apply as it Henson's own tweet(s). Henson's Twitter account was closed, but found archival hits Wayback Machine here The "J.K. Rowling" tweet here. Didn't find anything about the "Graham Linehan" tweet. Hey @Adakiko. Honestly, I'm glad you asked Deepfriedokra, because I'm not entirely sure on this one (I don't claim to be an expert). It's definitely something I'll follow to see the outcome of to better educate myself. Hey man im josh (talk) 00:13, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello

Sorry to disturb you I didn't understand your point.I mean why shouldn't we blank it when the discussion has already been concluded??Is there any rule like that. If there is any rule then can you please share it to me. I joined Wikipedia just few days ago so I do messed up some things with my knowledge. That is the reason why I blanked it so that outsiders don't see it. Bheri Giridhar Kartikeya (talk) 14:24, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Bheri Giridhar Kartikeya, the common practice is to archive a discussion instead of deleting it. See WP:ARCHIVENOTDELETE. Per WP:TPO, you shouldn't delete other user's talk page posts but you're welcome to delete your own when removing them doesn't break up a conversation (such as when someone replied to your comment).
The idea is that someone else may come along wanting to start the exact same discussion as what was deleted, or may find an explanation as to why something is the way that it is. By leaving previous discussions you allow for other users to catch up or base new discussions on results of old discussions. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:32, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Okay thank you bro Bheri Giridhar Kartikeya (talk) 14:33, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Actually I am the one who created that topic so can I delete it or should I leave it like that???? Bheri Giridhar Kartikeya (talk) 14:34, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

In this case, because you asked a valid question and someone replied to, I'd leave that for others to see in the future. The two lines which someone did not respond to I would say isn't a problem to remove. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:38, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Okay Bheri Giridhar Kartikeya (talk) 14:40, 7 September 2022 (UTC)

Changes at Lloyd Folkins

With this edit, you are correct in that Piffled used a weak argument for removing the material. However, the material in question was weak to begin with, having no sources whatsoever, so I would agree with its removal regardless of the family's concerns. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:28, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @WikiDan61, I agree that the unsourced material being removed isn't an issue, which is why I didn't revert it when they only removed that material. I was reverting because they were blanking the entire text, not just a portion. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:38, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi, so I was adding some evidence to the article Cockatoos.

It was not inappropriate, it wasn't intended to advertise, it was intended as proof to a statement I have added Shannonkramer (talk) 18:46, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Shannonkramer.
Judging by your edits, I think it would do you a lot of good to read Help:Referencing for beginners. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:26, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
I read that, and Lafeber was a reliable source, I'm just gonna keep adding it until it stays. Shannonkramer (talk) 13:31, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
@Shannonkramer, that is a bad idea. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and edit warring to get your way is inappropriate and unproductive. Read the referencing page and don't keep trying to add links in paragraphs. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:01, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
I was adding the link so whoever does the citations can reorganize it, I assume there's someone that takes the link so they can cite it? Shannonkramer (talk) 16:41, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
@Shannonkramer, no, you are required to do citations yourself. If you want something added to an article you can't half ass it and expect others to pick up the slack. So again, I direct you to Help:Referencing for beginners. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:43, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
I got the citation, please chill Shannonkramer (talk) 16:46, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
I didn't know how to add things as a citation, I didn't see the button. I thought someone else would help because as you said, "Wikipedia is a collaborative effort" Shannonkramer (talk) 16:47, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
Could you help me upload an image? I'm trying to upload this picture of a cockatoo in a service animal vest from the ADA slideshow Shannonkramer (talk) 16:54, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
You can upload images at Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:22, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
Okay I figured out how to add the link as a citation this time. Shannonkramer (talk) 16:45, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

I added a link to the John Clark Hanna website because it will provide information on the original ELF founder. 1977 was 47 years ago. The link provides current details on his activities. 2600:6C55:6700:7CE:19EE:B30F:4DDE:68D7 (talk) 19:22, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Redirects

I believe the redirects created at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects and categories#Redirect request: TinaKitten, Seapeekay, Purpled, Michaelmcchill, Nihachu, Foolish Gamers, CaptainPuffy, Hannahxxrose, HBomb94 should be deleted per Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 November 20#Technoblade (and others). Would you be willing to tag them for deletion per G7?
That aside, thanks a lot for your work at WP:AFCRC! — Qwerfjkltalk 09:27, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Qwerfjkl, thanks for pointing me in that direction. I've tagged all those pages with the G7 tag.

Bodour bint Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi

Hello, thank you for your very quick attention to edits made for Bodour Al Qasimi.

I have in the past, executed significant work on Sheikha Bodour's biographies in English and Arabic, where I am given updates on new developments by The Executive Office of Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi based in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates.

Today I was asked to remove reference to children's publishing and this will be as a result of growth into broader genres. Equally I was asked to add a more recent photograph. I could add this information to add more substance.

As long as this work is acceptable, I would like to resort to the original edits if you please. Thank you. Constant sun (talk) 17:57, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

@Constant sun, are you being paid to make these changes? Hey man im josh (talk) 17:58, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
At this point in time, I have not been paid to make changes. It is a request to provide current and correct information. Constant sun (talk) 18:02, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
It seems to me that you may have a conflict of interest if you're being asked to make these changes. I encourage you to read over that link on conflict of interest editing. Additionally, please don't remove infoboxes from pages, as that's why I reverted your edit and sent a warning your way. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:05, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
I did review conflict of interest and I do expect that I have provided a balanced, fair and up to date biography. I shall check again.
I am sorry about the removal of the infobox, this is an error on my part and unintentional. Constant sun (talk) 18:09, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
You do seem to be editing in good faith. Mistakes happen, just try to leave the infobox. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:22, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Earlier this year, we did make a number of changes as a result of official consulting work. This was paid, however we did reference significantly to ascertain balance and objectivity. Constant sun (talk) 18:06, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Hey @Constant sun, based on having been paid at any point, you'll need to disclose that on your user page at User:Constant sun. Please go to WP:PAID and follow the instructions, otherwise there's a risk of your account being banned. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:21, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Hello again, I believe that I have disclosed paid editorial work and the client, as directed.
I have also done in this in the Arabic version of Wikipedia, through I am seeking further support on the matter.
The respective Talk page equally, now, explicitly mentions the work and client. May you please advise whether I am authorised to resume edits?
Thank you. Constant sun (talk) 18:54, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
I don't see any reason you can't continue editing. Just make sure when you update the picture that you leave that infobox in place =P Hey man im josh (talk) 18:55, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Thank you. I have made one change to the photograph and am looking for references for another edit. I have disclosed the client and have removed the warning banner as long as I now conform to the rules. Thank you again for the guidance as I continue to become a better editor I hope. Constant sun (talk) 20:27, 13 September 2022 (UTC)

Please put back my edit or explain why it’s bad

Sorry if you already saw this on my page but my edit is actually this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Catastrophe_(Morris_and_McGann_book)&diff=next&oldid=1015040855

please put it back or explain why it’s bad. This is my very first Wikipedia edit and I worked hard on it. 😀 Theredmother (talk) 18:00, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

@Theredmother, this was an action using anti-vandalism software called WP:Huggle. When someone using the program reverts an edit, it typically reverts all of the most recent edits by the user. As mentioned in the edit summary and message left on your talk page, you removed content (the article's infobox) without explaining why. Please feel free to re-add the citation, but do not delete the infobox. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:02, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

Deleting redundant info

Hello, my apologies that I was not clear about my edits. I am deleting redundant information from the causes section of the gynecomastia page. The second paragraph of the causes section is discussed in the later sections under drugs and chronic disease. Mitac10 (talk) 18:03, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Mitac10, no problem, these things happen. To someone unaware of your intents, it just looks like you're deleting content without a proper explanation. Try to add a more detailed edit summary so that others know why you're doing something that an outsider might see as not an improvement and you should be fine moving forward. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:28, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Got it, thanks! Mitac10 (talk) 18:33, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

Daylight Savings Time

Hello, Hey man im josh,

I've been off of Wikipedia all of today but I just noticed that the hours no longer need to be adjusted when looking at potential CSD G13s. I see by your User page that you are in Canada and I believe Canada also observes Daylight Savings Time, like in the U.S. So, at least in the U.S., the time changed on March 12 and today we are looking at drafts that became or are becoming stale stale on March 13/14 UTC. We are still in Daylight Savings Time until November 6 so you don't have to add an hour to the last edit times to tag them for deletion. But we only have about 6 or 7 weeks of this continuity until we change time AGAIN in November when we'll deduct an hour from the last edit time. It's hard to explain but it's easier to see if you install the UTC clock gadget to appear in the upper right hand corner of the page because the UTC time, which is what SDZeroBot uses, doesn't change over the course of the year.

If you already noticed this change today while editing, well, sorry for telling you something you already know! But since you tag so many expiring drafts and you also live in the Northern Hemisphere, I thought I'd pass a note about this change along to you. Have a good week! Liz Read! Talk! 01:13, 14 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Liz, I appreciate you reaching out to me about this. We do observe DST in Canada. I hadn't noticed that the 1 hour buffer isn't necessary anymore. To be honest, I usually only notice time changes when the sun isn't where it's supposed to be on my drive to work (my phone's alarm auto adjusts, I just go with it).I've made sure to remember one of the earliest lessons you taught me about the banner that indicates if a page is eligible for G13 (so long as it has the AfC submission template). This is what I'll be referring to to make sure I catch the changes.
It's not often that people reach out to be as helpful as I feel you have been. I appreciative constructive criticism and the helpful pointers you offer. Even if I might already know something, I could always use a refresher to drill it in. So please never hesitate if you're feeling in the mood to post on my talk page. LJstats

Thank you very much for this warning, and well-spotted as I didn't do so myself. It is a breach of WP:CIVIL anyhow which an editor of his epexerience should have known, and it is the second time he called me a "Slavic manlet" (Slavic yes, but where he gets manlet from I don't know as I am over 190cm and I wrestled semi-professionally when in my 20s). Here is the first. I am now certain to prepare a noticeboard complaint, but do I go AN/I (incidents) for this, or edit-warring where I went before. The key problem is that hours after a protected page was lifted, he restored a version that he was constantly putting up, which I believe is WP:Gaming the system. We were both warned prior to that for edit-warring. The fact is that none of us can work constructively with an editor who takes this attitude. I only invited him to self-revert, and I am told "get the fuck off" the talkpage and so he obviously has no intention of heading the edit-warring warning. In my situation, would you go edit-warring noticeboard? Or AN/I? Or do you recommend something else? --Coldtrack (talk) 18:45, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

I'd suggested you go to WP:ANI instead of the edit warring noticeboard, based on the fact they're being uncivil and making personal attacks. It's not okay to speak towards other editors or edit war the way that they are. Be patient when you make the post, let ANI take its course, and don't be discouraged if the user isn't dealt with immediately. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:50, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Thank you Josh. It's gonna take me ages all that going through old revisions. I'll welcome your comments there if you so wish. Kindest regards. CT. --Coldtrack (talk) 18:56, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
@Coldtrack I'm glad to see your ANI went very fast! It also had a satisfying outcome considering they're now banned. Hey man im josh (talk) 23:40, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
Definitely, and thanks for your encouragement and advice. The user was blocked for edit-warring two weeks (initially) without even a nod toward the personal attacks. Though as it is clear, someone is out there to promote a point and will open new accounts to push this position. The person in question didn't seem worried about being subtle or obeying rules. Shame really. If he conducted himself more humanely and appropriately from the beginning, he stood a good chance of never being discovered. I know it's considered wrong and that one's appeals should always be from the "sockmaster account" which in his case was deemed to be User:Prim96, but if his is going to be the attitude of (what the community believes to be) one person, then it's best he's removed from the picture altogether. Regards, and good luck in your wider efforts of patrolling activities! --Coldtrack (talk) 05:22, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
I'm sure the admin saw the personal attacks. It's just that, while they are personal attacks, they're not exactly extreme ones. The edit warring is the much bigger part of it, and that alone was open and shut, so I'd imagine that's why they used the edit warring template over the personal attacks template.
It may get to the point where, if they continue, then you request page protection. Admins usually extend the protection length each time they have to do so. To a point that they may either set it to permanently protected or pending changes protected. It may take a few protections, but the admins at WP:RPP/I know what they're doing, and they'll put it to that level when appropriate. If you, briefly, explain that a sock is repeatedly returning and request pending changes review they may be inclined to escalate it faster.
The problem is that admins don't like to permanently ban IPs. You typically have to ban an IP ranges and that's potentially banning extra users who did nothing wrong. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:57, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Oh, and I read your WP:ANI and the responses. Next time, post the warning to their page even if they forbade you from ever posting there again. They need to be made aware and if they lash out inappropriately when you're following procedure then it's something that will likely be noticed during the discussion. I subscribe to the premise of Wikipedia:Give 'em enough rope.
Sometimes there is a discussion about whether an editor should be blocked or warned. When in doubt, a warning is probably sufficient. If a block is needed, the editor will soon prove it.
Let them prove it I say. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:13, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Redirect requests

@Hey man im josh: I hope you are doing well. I know, I know, it was too much to take to articles for creation. Would you please mind redirecting all these pages to the article Demons Protected by Angels? This is the tracklist with alternative writings too.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! 107.128.58.52 (talk) 00:31, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

@107.128.58.52, is there actually a limit on how many redirects you can request at once? I'd prefer if you could request it there, just so that I can lazily use the script to automatically create them. If you'd rather not I can take care of these tomorrow, too busy watching American football at this moment. Hey man im josh (talk) 00:33, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
@Hey man im josh:,nice to see a fellow football fan. By the way, you cannot ping IP addresses. But, yeah, it stops you after like five or so and something like a bot starts bugging out all the time, so you have to change IP addresses and it is not worth it in driving. So I am reminding you to do it ASAP so you do not forget. Thank you. 107.128.58.52 (talk) 00:36, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Yeah I knew the ping didn't work for IPs, but it's a habit at this point to use the reply to template lol. Alright sure, I'll take of them tomorrow.
I see that you edited your original post to use the ping template. It took me a while to learn this, but editing an existing reply to include that template does not actually ping the user. You must do so in your original or another message to actually ping the user. Ironic that we are both giving valid tips to one another about pinging! Hey man im josh (talk) 00:38, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
@Hey man im josh: I would rather have you do it now. Not to be petty, it is a birthday request and I am trying to do something with those. Thank you! 107.128.58.52 (talk) 00:40, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Please don't create any of these redirects. This IP is a block-evader. Binksternet (talk) 00:58, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

A block-evader of which user? Magnatyrannus (talk | contribs) 01:41, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
The banned user is User:Rishabisajakepauler. The IP has a block log.[1] The IP is about to get blocked again, probably for a longer period. Binksternet (talk) 01:50, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
@Binksternet, I'm sorry, but perhaps I'm missing something here. Their ban expired and they began editing again. None of their article edits from today appear problematic, they all appear to be in good faith and productive.
The only IP listed under suspected sockpuppets for User:Rishabisajakepauler is User:64.125.216.50. That IP and the IP you're accusing belongs to different network blocks and geographical regions.
I'm not saying you're wrong, you may know something I don't. But I don't see the connection at the moment. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:00, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
User:Rishabisajakepauler is still banned. You can see at User talk:107.128.58.52 that he discusses with several editors how he can start editing again in good faith, so it's him. The IP's blocked expired yesterday but the main account is still banned. Binksternet (talk) 02:04, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Okay, but still, different editors can hop on the same IP address. You do not have to say that it is block evasion just because one user decided to do that.107.128.58.52 (talk) 02:13, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
@Binksternet, I was ready to give them a chance, as their edits had been productive after the ban had ended. Thennnn they went and started behaving like an WP:UNCIVIL jerk here. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:14, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
@Hey man im josh: read the reason why I said it is not uncivil on my talk page. 107.128.58.52 (talk) 02:15, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
If that's the case, then should an SPI report be filed? Magnatyrannus (talk | contribs) 02:24, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
I'd rather leave that up to @Binksternet, as they seem to have a fair bit of experience with SPI reports and they know the case. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:41, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
@Magnatyrannus, they may have just handled it themselves. They just pinged an admin to the page asking for help. In the very same message they also stated they were evading a ban and that they were User:Rishabisajakepauler. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:45, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
You mean, the SPI report was made in error? Magnatyrannus (talk | contribs) 02:47, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Oh I hadn't realized you made one. Sorry, I wasn't intending to stop anybody from doing so, I just felt they were a better choice to do it over myself. Not saying there's an error at all @Magnatyrannus. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:52, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

first-team vs first team

I've noticed a number of edits like this one in which you are introducing grammatical errors. The usage of "first team" vs. "first-team" depends on the context of usage. In situations where "first-team" is used as an adjectival qualifier, it is hyphenated. For example, Bill Smith was the first-team quarterback on the 1992 All-America team. However, where it is not used in an adjectival manner, the hypen is inappropriate. For example, Bill Smith was named to the first team. If you have questions, let me know. Cbl62 (talk) 17:05, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Geez well that's concerning. My goal, when I set out to make these "corrections", was to "fix" any reference to the first-team all conference or league teams. Reviewing that edit, it's one that I would have felt very comfortable hitting the save button on.
English is full of nuance, so even native speakers like myself can find themselves in a situation it makes perfect sense, but it's technically wrong. I've always considered myself pretty decent with grammar and spelling, but I guess I need to read up on this.
I'm feeling a sense of dread and self-disgust over the amount of mistakes I've possibly introduced. It's bene probably a month or so that I've been slowly chipping away at it, but I had about 7,000 pages left for AWB to parse through of the original ~25,000 articles I started with... Plenty of those were skipped by AWB and some by me manually, but damn, that's still a lot of potential problems introduced. How do you suggest I move forward, aside from abandoning this task? Hey man im josh (talk) 17:26, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Meant to send a ping to you @Cbl62. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:27, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
The project still has merit if it is done with greater precision. You can find decent discussions of the multi-word-adjective-hyphen rule here, here and here. Cbl62 (talk) 17:38, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
Thank you. Your hyphen usage feels like a bit of comic relief that brought a grin to my face. I'll read up on those and try to get my head right, then re-read them several more times before even considering picking up where I left off. Thankfully I have the AWB settings, including the remainder of the list, saved if and when I do decide to resume the project. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:46, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Edit on wikipedia page for "nigger"

Was there a second sentence that got cut off in your edit notice? It just says "Not an improvement. The" and i would like to know if there was a second sentence i was supposed to read but got cut off or something Pythiaesque (talk) 19:31, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Pythiaesque. Yes it did get cut off, sorry about that. Your intention with the edit was good, but sometimes we over explain things. The "may" in the sentence that you added to I think does the job just fine. Alternatively, if you feel the need to make it more clear, might I suggest changing neutral meaning among African Americans to neutral meaning among some African Americans? In the future, it's usually not a good idea to put a secondary thought in brackets in a paragraph and we should instead aim to rewrite a sentence or paragraph to avoid such use. Removal on "Fort Myers"

Hi, I appreciate your input but I don't believe that the inclusion of the Tribby Arts Center as a point of interest is at all controversial, nor did the external link violate any norm/guideline. I'm going to revert the change but leave off the external link for the time being. Regards, S. Sswebrc (talk) 17:12, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

NFL templates

I was working with an automated batch in AWB, so it's entirely possible that I may have accidentally removed some categories that did exist -- so where that happened, you can readd the category as needed. For the other ones, however, know that we can't leave content filed in categories that don't exist, so you'll have to create any others that you want to use if they don't already exist yet. Bearcat (talk) 02:18, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me @Bearcat, I appreciate it. I thought that's what had happened, and I wanted to be sure given your experience that it wasn't intention and was just a mistake. I understand about the redlink categories you did remove. Hey man im josh (talk) 02:19, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
No problem. Unfortunately, mistakes can happen in AWB sometimes; there's no easy way to reverify an edit in AWB once a batch has started running, so if I'm cleaning up a batch of mostly nonexistent categories there's no easy way for AWB to identify exceptions to the rule if they weren't already caught in the initial preparation of the batch. Technology, ain't it grand? Bearcat (talk) 02:28, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Oh yeah, I get it. I've had the same thing happen using AWB so once I saw the AWB tag I had an inkling. Thanks a lot @Bearcat =) Hey man im josh (talk) 02:31, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Josh

Hi Josh. Kristin Eklund has targeted two sound artists in England whose names will be protected, via email stalking with threats of violence, persecution, and terrorism, false allegations and defamation. Eklund has waged a campaign of vile defamation against one of these artists for years now. The emails have been sent to authorities, local and otherwise. Eklund is a con, a fraud and a criminal. VMDeMolay (talk) 12:08, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Josh, Please don't protect Kristin Eklund. She will be dealt with the law, she is a criminal and dangerous. Right now she has threatened not just one human life but a few families. Can we think of the children please. Also, google Kristin Eklund deeper, there are mentions of her in illegal dealings with minors. I will be available to any clarify if you request. VMDeMolay (talk) 12:18, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

I'm not protecting anybody, I'm removing unsourced information that violates WP:BLP and neutral point of view policies. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:55, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Your comment is helping foster hatred against innocent civilians. Why do you support these lies and falsity? You must really deplore the value of human life. Children have been targeted on the threats. THERE ARE CHILDREN INVOLVED. What kind of criminal are you defending. Anyone who defends this is criminally insane. VMDeMolay (talk) 13:08, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Do not resort to personal attacks during times of content dispute. I'm not sure reverting your unsourced addition of "Kirstin has been traced as author of stalking and violent threats against sound artists" is doing the damage you're suggesting, but you need to cite sources, as you were told when the edits were reverted. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:16, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Some of the accusations in the emails refer to at least two years of harassment which tantamounts to literally thousands of emails, but these were never there as 'evidence'. As a matter of fact they don't exist, or, more correctly, if they do, they're forged in its entirety. This is a fact.
The fact that also the linked image of defamatory nature, is the only thing used as 'evidence' any harassment happened.
It was also grossly decontextualized from the real facts happening that day, reverted to the favour of the perpetrators and against one of the targeted victims.
It's been manipulated enormously for defamation's sakes. It's a massive personal and group attack on the victims.
We're trying to bring some Humanity in here - with a big H - so hold on. VMDeMolay (talk) 18:25, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
To be blunt @VMDeMolay, all I care about is that the content you seek to add is reliable sourced, maintains a neutral point of view, and does not violate Wikipedia's policy on biographies of a living person. I don't need some long explanation about why your edit is correct. It was unsourced and defamatory, so it was removed. Any discussion of the topic at hand belongs at the talk page of the article. Cowboys Roster Player Positions

The Cowboys, in their official games notes each week sent to the NFL and published by the NFL, list Shepley as a G and Watkins as a DT.

https://static.clubs.nfl.com/image/upload/cowboys/x6xabe1bghed4yb814uh.pdf?email=cmV2YW5mYW5AY29tY2FzdC5uZXQ=&utm_term2&utm_term3

That is what I use for the players' primary positions. Additionally, Shepley and Watkins, according to reports from practice from Cowboys reporters, spend most of their time at G and DT respectively. RevanFan (talk) 17:40, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey RevanFan, I think this is a discussion that would be better to have at WT:NFL, since it can affect a wide range of players. I find no mention of Shepley when searching the sheet and only a mention of Watkins once, where he was signed to the team as a free agent DT. As I mentioned, positions change during camp. What do we ultimately go off of and prioritize when they don't submit notes for practice squad players? We can't just go based on reporters. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:43, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, sending you a ping since I replied @RevanFan. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:43, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
No worried. And I did post over there. RevanFan (talk) 17:46, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Shepley is listed on the roster under the practice squad. You have to scroll down quite a ways. RevanFan (talk) 17:46, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Sounds good, we'll resume it there. For reference though @RevanFan, I want to be clear that I'm not trying to get into any sort of fight or argument. I just believe there's an issue, not just in this instance, in consensus on what sources to prioritize for some things. I've noticed it when trying to update player positions and, in my opinion, we need a hierarchy in what to trust when positions don't line up.
I did scroll down to find Shepley on the Cowboys' roster page, but I used CTRL+F on the PDF you linked. Are there known issues with searching it where some of the text isn't properly searchable? Hey man im josh (talk) 17:48, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
It's a PDF so there might be some weirdness there with searching. I don't know. And I am also not trying to argue. I was getting a little annoyed, I'll admit, but I apologize if I was rude at any point. I care very deeply for this (really frustrating) team haha. I do agree that it is a discussion worth having. But in general, I've always gone by: 1. Game notes. 2. Reports from respected team beat reporters. 3. The official team website. 4. Other sources (NFL.com, etc.) RevanFan (talk) 17:51, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
In the past, the roster posted on dallascowboys.com was HIGHLY inaccurate. They wouldn't note jersey number or even some roster changes for WEEKS on end. It was so annoying. They're better at it now, but I stopped trusting them as a primary source due to how late they were on updates in years past. Some teams are better than others at timely updates to their roster. RevanFan (talk) 17:53, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Nah don't worry @RevanFan, you didn't come off rude. I'll admit I was slightly annoyed as well, and I should have followed the 1 revert and discuss, but I reverted twice instead. I'm just glad the conversation is being started because I'd always prefer to reference the better sources and this will, hopefully, help determine what sources are best.
I find the NFL website itself is just awful for updating positions. They all have their flaws, and some teams are definitely better than others about updating their information. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:54, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Yeah I don't use NFL.com unless I'm desperate. RevanFan (talk) 17:56, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Empty categories and CSD tags

Hello, Hey man im josh,

It feels odd to reprimand you since you are such a good contributor but the empty category CSD notices clearly state Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Page creators can remove PROD tags if an article or file is tagged for Proposed Deletion but it is against policy for page creators to remove CSD or AFD/RFD/CFD/etc. tags from pages they have created and that rule goes for everyone, from new editors up to arbitrators.

There are several editors/admins who regularly scan Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion throughout the day and remove categories that are no longer empty. It happens frequently that empty categories are only temporarily empty, that's why they sit for 7 days before they might be deleted. You don't need to worry about a no-longer-empty empty category being deleted. So, please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages you have created in the future, okay? Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 21:22, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Liz
I'm not special, I deserve to be reprimanded when I do something boneheaded like this. I know better which makes it worse, but I guess I wasn't thinking when I removed the tags. Shaking my head at myself about this one.
Thanks for reaching out. Sorry that you had to spend time on this, but as always, I'll try not to make the same mistake twice. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:48, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

I did leave an explanation as to why that detail was removed. My friend Sol, who has passed away, Was never affiliated with Jeffrey Epstein. I find it inappropriate that the page lists as such.

Please Help me to create my Article Page

Hello, I was edited an Article Page 'Monty' and you were reverted it back. please help me to create Monty's Article Page AligarhStaars (talk) 12:30, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi @AligarhStaars, please do not overwrite existing pages with an entirely different article. I understand that the name Monty may be appropriate for your article, but such a page already exists. The existing page is meant to point towards all the different pages that Monty could be referring to, and your edit had wiped that out.
Instead, I recommend you start with a draft while you work on the article. Perhaps something like Draft:Monty (producer) since Monty is taken? Hey man im josh (talk) 12:36, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
And if I want this name 'Monty', is there any way? AligarhStaars (talk) 12:48, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
@AligarhStaars, in this case, I'd say no. An article would have to basically be the default somebody thinks of when they hear the name "Monty". This argument would often be supported by pageview statistics, but your page would have to exist first. There's just too many other subjects that involve the name Monty for it to direct to a singular person in this case. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:53, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
ok then, I created article with the name 'Monty (artist)' please review it and get it live as soon as possible. AligarhStaars (talk) 13:16, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
Glad to see you got the draft made and submitted it. A reviewer will take a look at their earliest convenience @AligarhStaars. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:17, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
ok then, I'm waiting... AligarhStaars (talk) 13:19, 27 September 2022 (UTC)

Deletion notice: Oweniw/Historic of Ezhionum Kingdom

Hi Josh,

Kindly delete the above mentioned page you earlier buzzed me about. Though I'll live to edit it to meet your requirements but Wikipedia's UI is such a complicated spool, difficult for a basic user to use.

Thank you for reacing out to me.

Regard — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oweniwe (talkcontribs) 05:26, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Oweniwe, I see what page it was now, it was Draft:Ezionum (Ezhionum) and it was because it had been over 6 months since the page's last edit. I didn't delete it, I just nominated it based on that criteria, as drafts that have not been edited in 6 months are eligible for deletion. If you ever feel like you wait to resume work on it again you should head over to WP:Refund to request it be restored. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:38, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

"NPOV" templated warning

Do you use twinkle? Which warning was it from the twinkle drop down, if so, that you just used on that last edit to make the NPOV templated warning? TY. Moops T 16:09, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Oopsemoops, I do. In this case though I reverted the edit via WP:Huggle, which also references the same templates. {{uw-npov1}} was the template I used for this level of warning. The various levels are all linked from that same template. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:24, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

"Network 0-28" listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect Network 0-28 and has thus listed it for discussion. This discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 September 29#Network 0-28 until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Thryduulf (talk) 08:40, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Thryduulf, did you mean Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 September 28#Network 0-28? Or does it show differently depending on the timezone? Thank you for reaching out to let me know. I'm disappointed that the nominator did not notify me themselves and that they did not notify the creator of most of their nominations (Bassie f). I've left a message reminding them that they need to do so. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:31, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, I did mean the nomination on 28 September. The issue is not with timezones, but with me - the {{RFD notice}} template defaults to the current UTC day and I forgot to override that. Thryduulf (talk) 13:40, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
Gotcha, that makes sense. Thank you. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:45, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

Hey @Karl Twist, in the future, if you want to overwrite a redirect, please remove the redirect template. In this case, the template was #REDIRECT [ [Magic Management ]]. Because that template was left in place, the page you mentioned, Peter Francey, still redirects to Magic Management. I've removed the redirect template for you.
