sorry for the delay

[edit]

I was offline when you sent this. Thanks too to @Firefangledfeathers for handling. @WikiDan61, if you think the ANI thread should be reopened, I have no issue with that. Star Mississippi 19:02, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. There was never really any point in reopening the discussion since the unblock request was so blatantly pointless. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:38, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help.

[edit]

Hello Dan, how are you? I need help to unblock my account. Usuário(a) Discussão:Cristian C. M. – Wikipédia, a enciclopédia livre

Look. When i created this account i was a kid. Today i try to create my first english page, with your help and considerations i want create some pages here to improve our encyclopedia. Maybe do you can help me?

Thank you for your support. Have a nice day. Cristian C. M. (talk) 18:43, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Cristian C. M.: I cannot help you for several reasons:
  1. you are not currently blocked from editing at the English Wikipedia;
  2. you ARE blocked from editing at the Portuguese Wikipedia, but I am not a regular editor at pt.wiki (I think I may have made 1 or 2 edits there);
  3. I am not an administrator at pt.wiki, and only such an administrator could help you.

I recommend you follow the directions for appealing your block at pt.wiki. You were blocked for persistent spamming (attempting to advertise your own business and artwork). As you appeal your block at pt.wiki, I recommend that you indicate that you have learned that you should not use Wikipedia to advertise anything, and that you will proceed with better editing in the future. Good luck. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:23, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You! Cristian C. M. (talk) 19:32, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I know you have a lot of expertise here, so I was wondering if you could help me improve the draft I'm working on: User:Cristian C. M./sandbox – Wikipedia. I'm planning to create a Wikipedia page for this project, as well as another Brazilian initiative called AgnerDNS — a free DNS service currently used by many users across Brazil.
I understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place for advertising or promotion. My intention is solely to create neutral, informative articles about existing projects, just as I did previously with the page about Xlibre.
One more question: how can I create articles related to Xlibre, considering that a redirect to it already exists? I'm unsure how to proceed in cases like this and would appreciate any guidance. Cristian C. M. (talk) 19:40, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Cristian C. M.: I recommend that you read Wikipedia is not about you. Self-promotion is highly discouraged across the Wikipedia universe. I also note that you have included no citations. Citations to reliable third party sources are needed to verify the content of your article, and the existence of such sources help other editors assess whether your topic is notable enough to be included at Wikipedia. As the article stands now, said notability is not demonstrated. It seems that you've developed some interesting tools, but that no significant interest has yet been given to your project by any outside party. Until then, Wikipedia will not be likely to allow your draft to be published. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:13, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

National Registry of Exonerations Wikipedia Page Edit

[edit]

Thanks for taking a look at the National Registry of Exonerations page. I saw you restored an earlier version and mentioned the loss of citations and wikilinks. Could you let me know which parts you found most concerning or what specific changes caused the rollback? I’m part of the Registry’s research team, and I want to make sure our updates follow Wikipedia’s sourcing and linking standards. I’d really appreciate any advice or examples of how to fix what went wrong so the edits can stay up next time. Chiararignot (talk) 21:26, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The National Registry of Exonerations is a project of the University of Michigan Law School, Michigan State University College of Law and the University of California Irvine Newkirk Center for Science and Society. The Registry was co-founded in 2012 with the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University School of Law to provide detailed information about known exonerations in the United States since 1989. As of June 28, 2025, the Registry lists 3,698 known exonerations in the United States since 1989, 463 pre-1989, and 46 cases in a separate database, The Groups Registry, which contains cases involving mass vacations of convictions tied to the official misconduct of a government actor.[1] The National Registry does not include more than 1,800 defendants cleared in 15 large-scale police scandals that came to light between 1989 and March 7, 2017, in which officers systematically framed innocent defendants.[2][3]

You'll note that the text is essentially identical (apart from some minor wording changes) but that all the wikilinks as well as the citations have been lost. That is why I reverted those edits. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:10, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

reverting one of your 2019 edits

[edit]

Dear @User:Wikidan61 I thought i might send a message regarding the your 2019 change of Radio Azerbaijan to radio in Azerbaijan. In my opinion the article describes a singular state company and not reflect the (repressive) radio landscape. Im a newer editor so I thought i might reach out before requesting anything. The page currently linked in the azerbaijan articles template as (radio). Possibly replacing the template link with a link tomedia freedom in Azerbaijan would be an improvement? I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. Kind regards SarahSmithLay (talk) 17:21, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Zihai Li New Scientific Contribution

[edit]

Hi WikiDan61,

Thank you for your feedback — much appreciated. Since I have a potential conflict of interest, would you be willing to consider adding the edit yourself? The contribution is based on a peer-reviewed publication (PMID: 41034580) and is supported by verifiable evidence, so ensuring it’s accurately reflected helps maintain the integrity of the scientific record and the research group’s reputation. JamesFant75 (talk) 01:54, 29 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@JamesFant75: As I've mentioned, Proteotoxic stress response drives T cell exhaustion and immune evasion is not a reliable source for medical related information because a) it is primary research (meaning that these findings have not yet been reproduced by other researchers) and b) Dr Li has declared a conflict of interest regarding this research. Because of this, I will not add the material to his page. You are free to make a request at Talk:Zihai Li and see if other editors have a different opinion. Edit on the null coalesce page

[edit]

Hi, thank you for your work. I saw you undid my contribution on the Null coalescing operator page. i was in doubt if adding the Julia part, then i saw that in Rust there is the same problem: there's no coalesce operator, but there are functions in the standard library that do that. Do you think it would make sense to delete both subsections, or to keep both? Thanks. Alessandro Bertulli (talk) 14:18, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Alessandro Bertulli: Yes, I do agree that the section on Rust doesn't belong either. If we go down that path, we'll end up describing how to implement a function that looks like a native null coalesce operator in every conceivable language. I believe only languages that implement this construct natively should be described. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:42, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Alessandro Bertulli: On second thought (having read the page's description of Rust's unwrap_or() operator, this does appear to be a native construct that functions quite similarly to the coalescing null operator, so I would not remove that.
