Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Reason: Unregistered users (most likely the same person) keep making the same incorrect/incomplete edits despite the edit summaries mentioning those mistakes every time. With only registered users able to update the page, it would be better to keep control of who's doing those things and to have a proper discussion on their talk page. I requested this protection on July 14, to no avail. It keeps happening every single match. Gsfelipe94 (talk) 04:01, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Gsfelipe94 The user in question appears to be operating within the 2804:1884::/41 range based on their IP addresses used since July 14. When examining the edit log for that range I am seeing a lot of editing on similar pages. Few of those have been reverted and I see only a single level I warning issued since July 14 for problematic editing on this page. I think we need to attempt other measures before going to page protection which would likely entail significant collateral damage. Please try to discuss this with the user. If disruptive editing continues despite efforts to discuss and warnings, then I would be prepared to page block the range. But the fact that they are doing a lot of editing on similar pages with few reverts does not suggest that this is pervasive disruption. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:55, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Declined For now, per above. Ad Orientem (talk) 18:03, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: IP disruption due to unconfirmed trade (see WP:SPORTSTRANS) The Kip (contribs) 04:12, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Increase in IP addresses making more disruptive edits to Buddhism again. - Imcdc Contact 04:18, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent disruptive editing by IP editors. Bgsu98 (Talk) 09:35, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (video game) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 12:16, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:ARBPIA. Entranced98 (talk) 12:37, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Repeated IP vandalism, generally random changing of birth and death dates as recently seen in List of supercentenarians by continent. Mark and inwardly digest (talk) 13:19, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – To get ahead of disruptive editing. Subject is in trade rumors. User:Namiba 13:54, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Requesting temporary semi-protection for the Gabriel Shaoolian article. An IP editor (90.168.170.87) falsely added a death notice on July 9, 2025. The edit was reverted on July 31. As this is a biography of a living person, protection is requested to prevent further vandalism. 178.148.40.247 (talk) 14:14, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Temporary pending changes protection: Persistent spamming. Paid editing (once again) by the school itself, which this time has employed a consultant. To stop them overwriting the article without proper discussion it would be beneficial to implement pending changes 10mmsocket (talk) 14:37, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Temporary semi-protection is needed due to persistent vandalism by the same individual using multiple IP addresses. Repeatedly making false claims about an acquisition of Verizon by a company called Telenor. Same issue occurred on the Boost Mobile page with the exact same false information this past week. Joeal532 (talk) 14:51, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Temporary protection is needed due to persistent vandalism by multiple IP addresses, ignoring all the sources listed in the article. Thank you. Agent010 (talk) 15:07, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 15:46, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. — Czello (music) 16:01, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Constant addition of unsourced content despite constant warnings. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 16:21, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Unprotection: Given that it has been 9 years, I'm hoping the sock has moved on to better things?. meamemg (talk) 16:42, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Note: You would hope, but they're still around (unfortunately). I won't decline to unprotect, but just noting the reason, while done in good faith, isn't completely accurate.-- Ponyobons mots 17:21, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Declined – The LTA has neither moved on nor improved. Favonian (talk) 18:22, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
I kindly request that the article title for that page link be changed to DXOC-FM, which is the station’s official callsign. The current title has caused confusion among staff, as it reflects inaccurate information. If this issue remains unaddressed, it may reinforce the perception that Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Vineyard93 (talk) 16:07, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Automated comment: @Vineyard93: This request cannot be parsed. Please ensure it follows formatting consistent with the current or previous methods of submission.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 16:16, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Vineyard93 (Non-administrator comment) You seem to have been move-warring with @SBKSPP which got the article move-protected in the first place. You should start a requested move discussion on the article's talk page, citing your sources to prove that "DXOC-FM" is correct. Justjourney (talk | contribs) 17:22, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
