Accuracy when summarising a source
[edit]When you cite a source, it is critical that you give an honest summary of it content. In particular, you must not report it a saying significantly more (or significantly less) than it say. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 16:22, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days, and you are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on any page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

- Without regard to the quality of the article, your new article, Mehraveh Khandan, contains a paragraph about the Arab-Israeli conflict (which the Iran–Israel war is part of). You cannot make such edits, per policy, as you are not extended-confirmed. win8x (talk) 19:20, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Blood, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources to see how to add references to an article. The encyclopedia doesn't rely on news reports, WP:NOTNEWS. For blood or any medical topic, a reputable review article is needed per WP:MEDRS. Zefr (talk) 19:39, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- with all due respect, i am sure these sources are reliable, rather than deleting, you should have bring more sources like these:

- now i do expect you to restore the information you deleted Shemgeneri (talk) 21:44, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- These are news reports, which are unencyclopedic, WP:NOTNEWS. When/if a WP:MEDRS review is published, then it would be appropriate to cite. Meanwhile, do not edit war, WP:WAR. Zefr (talk) 19:10, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi Shemgeneri! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Rafael Grossi several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Rafael Grossi, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 08:45, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- I thank you for your comment, i will pay more attention next time. I just feel that the other person has some kind of agenda, he keeps deleting sources, i now found more sources with the date of birth of Grossi. My understanding of this platfor is to share knowledge, not simply delete things someone doesn't like, rather than deleting, i'd expect that person to help find better sources, like i did now. Again, i do thank you for your kind explanation, i will not do more reverts, simply find sources to support the exact date of birth. Shemgeneri (talk) 08:56, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not for merely sharing knowledge; it is for summarizing what independent reliable sources say about a topic. There are stricter rules when editing about living people, see WP:BLP- this is especially relevant with sourcing. Users will remove what seems to be inappropriate sources and, in fact, are required to if they detect them, and they are not obligated to replace them, though they may if they choose. If they are appropriate, you need to say why on the talk page first. 331dot (talk) 09:00, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- NO one said it is merely sharing knowledge, but i feel it is better to share knowledge and try and help others, rather than just deleting things and taking the so called easy road. Once again, thank you for explaining, just think that doing good, is by helping others. Shemgeneri (talk) 09:08, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- One more thing, i find it strange you standing up for a user who has been blocked several times on Wikipedia because of his edits, you wrote nothing on his conduct on the matter. Shemgeneri (talk) 10:49, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not standing up for any particular user, nor am I saying that what they are doing is correct. I noticed your actions so that's what I commented on. I'll look at theirs, too, but you are not justified in edit warring with an edit warrior. Only you can control your actions. 331dot (talk) 11:13, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
- True, but as you chose to get involved and address me only, you can clearly see why it looks a one sided comment. I now saw there is a topic on the page Talk page, regarding his date of birth, so i will withdraw from further edits. Thank you, have a nice day Shemgeneri (talk) 11:27, 8 September 2025 (UTC)

Nice work! Please try to move/copy footnotes to be at the end of each sentence and not just at the end of the paragraphs. Also, some footnotes are incomplete. For example, note 10 should have the name of the website. Have a great day!

Hey, I don't understand this sockpuppet thing at all. What is it? Where does this thing come from? What did i do wrong? I just wanted to edit on Wikipedia. Suddenly i am blocked for something i have no idea about. This isn't right. Shemgeneri (talk) 13:45, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Procedural decline; this is not an unblock request. Please carefully reread WP:SOCK and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/ShoBDin, which we've already pointed you to. Yamla (talk) 13:48, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
I did some research, to understand what is going on. I understood the main allegation, but i am just an individual editing on Wikipedia. i Saw many users who's edit summaries etc. look like mine. I feel like an innocent bystander caught in some kind of crossfire. The allegations against me are of a kind, hard to disproof, as they are so general and can be directed at a large number of users. I came here to edit things i found interesting for me, the last topic being the situation in Iran. I have only this user that take enough of my time, can't think and never did of having more than one. What's the point of that? I really feel confused and not experienced enough to address such allegations. I am not a sockpuppet, i am just someone without any agenda or bad intentions, who came to edit here. If that is a crime, maybe this isn't the place for me. Shemgeneri (talk) 08:16, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Per below. asilvering (talk) 08:34, 20 January 2026 (UTC)

- Given the amount of coincidences identified by Moneytrees in the sockpuppetry investigation report, the main paths forward I see to an unblock are to agree to topic bans from post-78 Iranian politics and the Arab-Israeli conflict (appealable at a later date without presumption of fault on your part), and/or some sort of standard offer appeal following contributions on another Wikimedia project. signed, Rosguill talk 20:40, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
Rosguill I will feel bad i will not be able edit on those subjects, but if that is the only way out you see, i will take your good advice. This Topic Ban, is it also indefinite, as it seems this conflict is ever going to end?
- It would be indefinite, although in this case "indefinite" means "you can appeal the restriction to me or an appropriate forum of your choice (WP:AN or WP:AE) in a few months' time, once you've demonstrated through your edits that you are a constructive editor that is not connected to the account identified as a sockmaster". The length of the conflict itself is not a factor--many conflicts stay contentious even after the fighting stops (e.g. Nagorno-Karabakh), and in principle if something were to change about the tenor of engagement with the topic on Wikipedia we could consider lifting the contentious topics designation even if there is not yet a lasting settlement between the parties to the conflict.
- Moneytrees, any input here as blocking admin? signed, Rosguill talk 16:17, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Rosguill, I'm a bit hesitant as I don't find this appeal convincing it terms of them not being a sock (given what I identified at the SPI, I'm not sure how something like this sequence of edits isn't highly suspicious). It's also that an edit outside of their main "topic area" might still indirectly "push" their POV... but I also don't really care that much to completely shut down an unblock. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 18:42, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Rosguill, I've found evidence in the past week that @Moneytrees didn't have at the time of the block, and which is probably enough for a block on its own. I'll decline this appeal. -- asilvering (talk) 08:33, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
