On 11 March 2025, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article IM-2, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. Stephen 05:38, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Edit war claim
[edit]You are going around making accusations about an edit war, but which specific article(s) is this supposed edit war happening on? Fram (talk) 15:40, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, let me explain here, MHD and Kajmer are warring over kurdish nationalist pages, (the battle ones to be specific) in which MHD is claiming that kajmer is targetting kurdish nationalist pages, but kajmer is saying he didnt. Shaneapickle (talk) 15:43, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
- Specific articles. If you can't name them, then no report at any admin noticeboard will even be looked at. Disagreeing about a topic or occasionally editing the same page is not an edit war. Fram (talk) 15:52, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the topics of Kurds and Kurdistan, broadly construed, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Please step back from admin areas
[edit]Hi Shane. It's always great to see an enthusiastic newer user around. However, and I have to be blunt here, when it comes to your recent edits at AN/I, you frankly seem to not know what you are doing. WP:AN/I § Expecting ITN/C to make a exception: User:Morgajon was BITEy as noted there; you then went to the user's talk page and continued to call them suspicious
. At WP:AN/I § Preaching WP:THETRUTH you tried to explain how TPA revocation works to admins. And, much more concerningly, at WP:AN/I § Kelisi and IPA you've thrown fuel onto a fire others were trying to put out first by baselessly alleging account compromise, then incorrectly stating everything on wikipedia should have sources
, and finally making the completely incorrect statement that pronunciations on the English Wikipedia must be in English—which I guess, in a silver lining, was enough to unify the two opposing parties to tell you you were wrong.
AN/I isn't a playground. Admin areas aren't a playground, as I see another admin has already explained to you here. I see you've also made User:Shaneapickle/Empire of Wallenderte, which I've just deleted under CSD G3 as a hoax, and that, after being told you were wrong in that third AN/I thread, you went to one of the parties' usertalks to start a debate over monarchism. There's also this bit of vandalism a couple months ago. So maybe more broadly I should just say, Wikipedia isn't a playground.
Do you want to contribute to building an encyclopedia? Great! There's lots of things to do and always some new article to work on. I would absolutely encourage you to apply your enthusiasm to the awesome task of building the world's most comprehensive reference work. On the other hand, if you want to watch drama, play cops-and-robbers with bad guys, and argue with people over politics, there are plenty of sites for that, but this is not one. So I would encourage you to pick one of those two options—focusing on content work or not editing. If you continue to make these kinds of disruptive edits in admin areas, you will probably get blocked soon enough, either by me or someone else, either from AN/I or the WP: namespace or the whole site. And I hate to see enthusiasm wasted, so let's not go down that route. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 19:55, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Tamzin, I just got this message, and I personally think my suspicions against Morgajon were valid because I have seen many people edit pages with their own promotion of their buisness, and the ITN candidates debacle was kind of like those situations, and also I am not a new user, I have been editing for 2 years already. Morgajon tried to defy the notability guidelines we have for ITN by nominating the Oasis tour, (we never post tours, I checked like every single tour, and not ONE of them were posted to ITN) and everyone in that nomination had a consensus to not post. I told him upfront that I have seen many people do these kind of things, trying to promote their buisness or something they had a conflict of interest on, and I explained to him that his edits to the page (which are only the Oasis tour, mind you) seemed like he was being paid to do these edits and promote it on our wiki. And for the Empire of Wallenderte, my school blocked Fandom, Wikimedia, and MicroWiki so I cant make my own page/wiki for my micronation. I wouldn't call that a debate, i was just telling him my opinion on socialism and monarchism, which it wasn't a complete debate because he did not even respond to my opinion. Shaneapickle (talk) 20:06, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- And look, I dont have anything against new user's in general, but if they seem to be promotional in nature (like morgajon) I would call them out for it. Shaneapickle (talk) 20:08, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- What I'm hearing here is that you don't understand WP:NOTFORUM or WP:UPNOT, don't intend to comply with WP:BITE, and are continuing to make baseless allegations of COI that multiple admins have told you are non-actionable, pinging the user in the process, which makes this verge on harassment. I'm sure you feel like you're offering a good rebuttal to what I said, but what you're actually doing is making a case that a block would be necessary to prevent disruption. You seem like a very bright young person, but it's important to understand that you don't know everything. I'm far from infallible, but for a moment let's just assume that I, as an administrator who's been editing for half her life, probably know more than you about what is and isn't acceptable conduct on Wikipedia. Can you reread what I wrote with that assumption in mind, and then consider whether there was a better way to respond? -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 20:24, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey Shane, just to let you know -- I've declined your request for rollback. Rollback generally requires more experience both editing mainspace and reverting vandalism. The issues with WP:BITE were also a concern. Feel free to ping me if you have any questions.
- @Tamzin has given you some great advice above on how to get more involved in editing. I would encourage you to take it; working in mainspace is a great way to build up an understanding of how Wikipedia works and is frankly some of the most fulfilling work you can do here. Thanks, Giraffer (talk) 23:26, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Giraffer I actually have one concern here, as I now realize looking back I was a bit harsh on Morgajon, but still, I was being vigilant and calling out someone who I thought was paid to edit the Oasis tour page, and nominate it for ITN, but we still have notability guidelines for ITN, anything can be on ITN if it is notable enough. That's why I called him out for expecting us to make an exception for the tour, but I realize now that was harsh as hell. 2606:9400:98A0:92A0:89A7:7CA3:1401:7BC5 (talk) 19:50, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure why you pinged me...? Also, please edit while logged in if you can. Thanks, Giraffer (talk) 19:56, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
- I logged in when I was in connecticut (6 days ago) , and my school blocked auth.wikimedia so i cant log back in, and you said here
- " Feel free to ping me if you have any questions." 2606:9400:98A0:92A0:89A7:7CA3:1401:7BC5 (talk) 19:57, 9 July 2025 (UTC)
