Why did you remove my addition to the Stand By Me page?

I don't know how to add references, but in my edit explanation I wrote where the proof is so someone who knows how to add references could add them. Here's further proof of the truth of my addition: https://kenisu3000.blogspot.com/2022/05/encyclopedia-mother-making-mother-tv.html?m=1 On that page, hit Ctrl F and search "stand by me" to find proof of the inspiration. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 23:56, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

One City Center (Portland, ME)

As I said in my revertion of your revertion, I go there personally for my chiropractor and I know for a fact that it's the official website of that building so it is not spam. the link is not inappropriate because it is the official current link for the business, not an archive link of a website that no longer exists. There are plenty of examples of Wikipedia pages using the current business's, organization's or building's website. Specifically in Portland, ME, here's the most similar example is Chestnut Street Methodist Church (Portland, Maine). As you can see in the external links section, it's the restaurant's website that's housed there, not an archive website of the church that used to be there. More examples are Porteous, Mitchell and Braun Company Building where it's not an archive of the company but the website of the college that is there now, United States Marine Hospital (Portland, Maine) where it's not an archive of the marine hospital but the website of a completely different hospital (not even a successor) that has a location there, and finally Agora Grand Event Center where it doesn't show an archive of the church but the event company's website that's currently there. I could go on and on but I hope you get the point now. GamerKlim9716 (talk) 14:54, 19 August 2024 (UTC)

It's a commercial link showing rental prices of properties. Please desist. Seasider53 (talk) 15:24, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
Yes, it's the company that owns the building but you'll keep reverting my reverts so I give up 🤷‍♂️ GamerKlim9716 (talk) 15:32, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
If you're going to remove that site, you should also remove the site here in the info box because it's a commercial website showing prices of properties. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Casco?wprov=sfti1# GamerKlim9716 (talk) 15:37, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
If you don't remove the website in the info box for The Casco since it's the exact same thing, the company that owns the building and is a (in your words) "commercial link showing prices of properties", then it's not fair and I'm adding my edit back. GamerKlim9716 (talk) 15:46, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
Problem solved. Seasider53 (talk) 15:49, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
Cool. You should delete the restaurant's (that's housed in the building) website for Chestnut Street Methodist Church (Portland, Maine) since it's a commercial site with prices for food. I can help you find some more Maine historic article's external links to mess up if you would like. GamerKlim9716 (talk) 16:00, 19 August 2024 (UTC)

You unjustifiably removed my verifiable addition to the Stand By Me (film) page

You claimed an English translation of an official Japanese book was not a legitimate source despite that very book being used as a legitimate source for a lot of information on the Mother (video game) page. Explain yourself. My addition was verifiable with an official source, which you claimed was not valid, and yet elsewhere on Wikipedia that very source is considered valid. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 00:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to understand why you considered the reference to two of the most important websites related to John Muir was considered "spam." As I explained in the rationale for adding these sites as External Links for the entry on John Muir, the omission of a link to John Muir Exhibit website seems to be a major oversight, as that site is considered by numerous scholars the largest repository of writings about John Muir, cited by dozens of published books, and even seen by the University of the Pacific John Muir Papers (which is included) as an important resources. Similarly, the link to the John Muir Global Network, a portal to websites featuring Muir around the world, seems too important to omit, given that Wikipedia is intended to incorporate more than just "original" sources but to cite to "what others are saying about the topic" at hand, in this case John Muir. These are not just some random sites, but rather sites that have been devoted the the topic for many decades, and frequently referenced in scholarly articles. Thanks. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Hadlock Field. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Reverted captions

Dear Seasider53,

I have noticed that every time I make an edit on a movie article regarding who the poster artist is, you revert it, despite the fact I include a citation. I must respectfully ask that you stop doing this. The pages you’ve done this on include Shock Treatment, Field of Dreams, Dragnet (1987 film), Harry and the Hendersons, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Death Valley (1982 film), Swamp Thing (1982 film), and, if I recall correctly, a few video games.

With all due respect, I don’t know why you are undoing my edits, and must I ask you to revert them to how I had them and then stop erasing my work.

I wish you the best of luck in future edits,

The Denton Dossier. The Denton Dossier (talk) 02:54, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

You don’t need to know who I am in order to stop doing things you’ve been asked to not do. Have a read of Wikipedia’s guidelines if you need assistance. Seasider53 (talk) 02:59, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. Let’s remain formal, shall we?
Would you please point me to the guidelines that explain how my edits were improper?

Do we have a problem here?

You undid a good deal of the work I did on the page for Shock Treatment with no explanation. It wasn’t just a poster caption- all the character descriptions i added, too.

Seriously, why do you think that what I am doing qualifies as “vandalism.” It clearly isn’t. Point me to the rule that says it is.

You were also extremely unprofessional in your reply to the message I sent you. You said “You don’t need to know who I am”. Uh… I’m not trying to find out your identity. I’m just sending you a message.

Please stop undoing my work for no reason.

Sincerly,

The Denton Dossier. The Denton Dossier (talk) 21:17, 19 January 2025 (UTC)

Yesterday I added the following information to Paul Young:

He has an older brother and a younger sister. As a youth, after school, he played football for the Vauxhall Motors factory where he worked. In his spare time, he played in several bands as a bass guitarist.

The cited reference was this webpage: [1].

Turning to the page, the website says this:

Paul Antony Young was born January 17th 1956. He was the middle child of three, has an elder brother Mark and a younger sister Joanne. His interest in music dates back to when he was very young, when he learnt to play the piano and then the guitar. On leaving school he worked with his father for Vauxhall Motors and played in various bands at night. He played Bass guitar in his first band but always wanted, and eventually managed, to become the singer. These were lean times musically because his preferred style of music, Soul, was not particularly popular. However he managed to sing in local bands such as Kat Kool & The Kool Kats and later in the better known Streetband.

Do you have an issue with this source? 156.61.250.249 (talk) 14:13, 21 January 2025 (UTC)

Yes, as with all fan sites used as references, especially for a biography of a living person. See WP:BLP. Seasider53 (talk) 15:24, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
That wasn't a fan site but the official site, and it was already used in the article, which you left in place. Both here and in the above discussion with User:The Denton Dossier, you seem way too aggressive, assuming bad faith, leaving vandal warnings when no vandalism happened. Please be more constructive and factual in your criticisms, and less overbearing in your reverts. Fram (talk) 15:56, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Any fan site can be published with an “official” title. It doesn’t mean it’s legit. I’m “aggressive” because I’m faced with editors on a daily basis who don’t want to learn the dos and don’ts of Wikipedia. Seasider53 (talk) 16:21, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
"Any fan site can be published with an “official” title." Yes, but this is the official Paul Young website, not a fan site. And if you are incorrectly reverting and leaving undeserved vandalism warnings and so on, then you need to take a break from either the specific task you are doing (e.g. recent changes patrolling) or Wikipedia as a whole, as it seems to be burning you out. No editor should be treated worse because you have encountered too many other editors who don't want to learn. Every good faith editor (and these two have all the indications of being good faith editors) should get a "fresh" look, not one troubled by too many bad faith editors. Fram (talk) 16:35, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
The webarchive links are not the official website. The same URL, yes, but it appears to be a fan site which was made into an official one. Seasider53 (talk) 16:47, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Do you have any evidence that the site which says "PAUL YOUNG OFFICIAL WEBSITE" and which is at the same address as the current official site was then not the official site but a fan site? Fram (talk) 17:00, 21 January 2025 (UTC)

your problem with me?

many of the edits i make are reverted by you for no reason. you give no explanation and it looks like you do this to other people too. your user talk page is filled with people questioning your weird unnecessary reverts. please stop, or at least give reason for why you do it instead of just saying nothing and acting all strange-like. i'm not even sure you have anything to do with the pages i edit, it seems you just stalk what i edit and revert things because you want to. anyway, have a nice day and please get back to me so we can resolve this. Yeah. I'm not the only editor reverting your edits. Seasider53 (talk) 21:50, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
of course you're not the only person who reverts edits i make. but that's not a good reason to stalk my account and actively revert most things i do. anyone else who reverts my edits usually does it for good reason and at least has the decency to tell me why they did it. you on the other hand seem like you're just looking for conflict. because why wouldn't you tell me why you reverted them? answer me that. i'm also not the only person you do this to. your ENTIRE talk page is filled with people like me who are confused at why you do what you do. Cherryblossomgirly (talk) 22:42, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

I've tried reasoning with this person, i have posted sourced evidence on their talk page, they deleted it, they don't care, they're not reading it, they don't want to engage.Rcclh (talk) 00:44, 24 March 2025 (UTC)

Who are you referring to, since you’ve put this addendum on both talk pages? Seasider53 (talk) 05:40, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
Sorry I just copied it over to ensure you would see it. I am referring to ItsKesha. I have tried engaging but they just revert. I put a source page proving my point on their page they deleted it. I created a new paragraph as a gesture of compromise that acknowledged the intention of the original paragraph whilst removing the untruth, it was deleted. I'm fully aware it is a trivial piece of information, but it's false, and if you allow one falsehood to stand, you allow another, and then eventually wikipedia turns into a work of fiction. That's why i'm persuing it.
It's such an easy to prove falsehood. It's not as though historic football squads are hidden away and hard to find niche subjects, its blatantly obvious. Rcclh (talk) 12:19, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
I see you've now made exactly the same revert that i made three times and got a block warning from you!. :-) Anyway thank you for removing the false information and case closed as far as i'm concerned. Rcclh (talk) 22:32, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

I hope you don’t mind me joining in a private conversation. First of all, I think that ItsKesha should also be given a warning for edit-warring. Their behaviour is little different from Rcclh. Secondly, it seems to me that Rcclh is probably correct and that the article used as a source is not reliable. There were far more than 11 non-British Isles players in the First Division in 1991. As this sentence is not terribly important and unreliably sourced, I suggest that the sentence beginning “At the time, Kanchelskis was a rarity” should simply be deleted. We can then move on. Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 09:31, 24 March 2025 (UTC)

You removed Rcclh's edit, though...? If we can get more than one reference for the claim, then it might be worthy of inclusion. As it stands, I don't believe so. Seasider53 (talk) 11:18, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for your intervention. To be clear, the issue is that I want to see the falsehood (11 non-British Isles players) removed. The piece I inserted in its place was merely a compromise to try to placate ItsKesha so I am quite happy for my piece to be removed, as long as the false information is not restored Rcclh (talk) 12:20, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
I've just noticed @Seasider53 has threatened to block me if i remove the “At the time, Kanchelskis was a rarity” paragraph again so could you do this for me please so we can, as you say, move on. Thank you. Rcclh (talk) 21:09, 24 March 2025 (UTC)

Ichigo Kurosaki and Uryu Ishida aren't cousins. Do not vandalize Ichigo Kurosaki's wikipedia page again. Aaaaaap78 (talk) 22:41, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Why did you create an account to post here but you're vandalising articles while logged out? Seasider53 (talk) 22:58, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Thanks

For this.

They've done the same on a number of articles, and this is the second time in 12 hours they've done so. I hope this doesn't result in needing to go to AN3. In the meantime, they reverted a number of other pages in a similar fashion. If you're able to take a look that'd be fantastic. See: 1 2 3, and yesterday 4 5 6.

Thanks! Iknowyoureadog (talk) 18:23, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

Your previous contribution to the discussion included "...retired English..." is less offensive to me than "...former English...", etc., which I've had cause to see too often. I'm happy with the change.. You may wish to further contribute to clarify that your position on this has changed. Barry Wom (talk) 08:10, 25 April 2025 (UTC)

Your reversions are independent of my viewpoint. Seasider53 (talk) 08:14, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
