The World Destubathon

btw i just found out sbout the brehony book like 2 days ago and it has lots of info on this topic (starting from chapter 3). We should be relying on that book more 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 21:35, 14 July 2025 (UTC)

I have around two dozen books on Yemen at this point. I haven't gone through them yet, but I'm fairly sure some that aren't currently cited in the article will have relevant material. Proposed deletion is only for non-controversial topics. Past consensus has been that we have very high standards for slogans at AfD. Basically, we require significant coverage from multiple reliable sources, and if involving living persons, then the sources must be over a period of time. An example of a Keep is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The bride is beautiful, but she is married to another man, and of a Delete is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Make Iran Great Again. In your edit at Special:Diff/1343491445 you wrote in the edit summary "Removed challenged content per WP:CRP"; however the consensus required prevision stated in the active arbitration notice at the top of Talk:Zionism states "Changes challenged by reversion may not be reinstated without affirmative consensus on the talk page". You first attempted to make the change on 13 February at Special:Diff/1338045190, which was subsequently challenged by reversion by Davefelmer on 13 February at Special:Diff/1338066414. Thus your change has already been challenged by reversion and consensus is required to reinstate it. Your edit today to reinstate it in the edit I link above is thus a violation of the consensus required provision.

Sorry, I wasn't active yesterday and only saw this now. He is the one who inserted the content on 24 January, which I later partially reverted. I challenged his addition, so under the restriction he should have taken the matter to the talk page and argued for its inclusion there. Instead, he restored it. He was already warned at AE for failing to comply with the restriction. I subsequently restored my change, and he has now reverted it again.

I have no objection to discussing the matter on the talk page and explaining why my changes better reflect the sources. However, I do not see why the burden should fall on me in this situation, given that I challenged the material and he was the one who reinstated it without consensus. My understanding of G5 is that it applies to pages created after the earliest block or ban of any of that person's accounts. Since BasselHarfouch was confirmed as a sockpuppet, it implies they were evading a restriction that existed long before this specific account was caught. If these articles are kept while their other creations are being G5'ed, it creates an inconsistent record for how we handle their content.

Regarding ShoBDin, they were also blocked as a sockpuppet; it follows that the account was used to circumvent an existing block, thus G5 should apply to their creations as well. Given that these articles have not been substantially edited by others and are the product of confirmed sockpuppetry, would you be open to reconsidering the G5? I understand that it can be confusing where there are inconsistencies among administrators when speedily deleting articles. I have no comment on that at this moment.

Editors do not have to be evading a block to be blocked as a sock puppet. Many editors are utilizing multiple accounts when none of them are blocked, which is sockpuppetry without block evasion. I can't speak to BasselHarfouch's block. However, looking at the sockpuppet investigation for ShoBDin, ShoBDin was operating two accounts, neither of which were blocked before January 2026. This is a form of sockpuppetry without block evasion.

I actually have strong evidence suggesting that ShoBDin and BasselHarfouch are operated by the same person. I previously drafted an SPI case for these accounts, but I didn't file it at the time because they were blocked individually.

Since most of BasselHarfouch's articles have already been G5'ed based on a history of block evasion, establishing a formal link between ShoBDin and BasselHarfouch would likely change the assessment of these articles. Do you think it would be useful for me to post that SPI case now? If a connection is established, would it change your assessment regarding G5 eligibility? I don't think G5 really makes sense in general, but it is what it is. Passing that part of the G5 test has a built-in dependence on the completeness of the sockpuppet categorization tree i.e. whether the account can be reliably assigned to an existing sockmaster. This is often not possible or doesn't happen for various reasons. ShoBDin (like BasselHarfouch, which was likely operated by the same person in my view) haven't been assigned to a sockmaster. There is also a dependence on sock discovery/block timing. For example, what we do know is that at the time of the creation of the article (2025-11-26T13:45:41), the ShoBDin account had already been violating WP:SOCK since at least 2024-07-07, the day their Shemgeneri sock was created. So, the reason they were not blocked at the time and could create the article was that their sockpuppetry had not been confirmed. But whatever, this is all academic. Maybe a better reason to decline is the 'no substantial edits by others...' part of G5 - authorship stats for the current revision shows about 20% by other accounts.

Note that G5 does not say that the blocked editor should not be the primary contributor to the article. To my knowledge, the phrase substantial edits generally means edits that contribute to the content of the article. Thus, copyediting, adding tags, or adding categories generally don't count as substantial edits. However, edits such as this substantially contribute to the article.
