Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

She hasn't fought in 2 years now and doesn't seem like she will anytime soon, especially since the UFC scrapped her division. Hey, I have a question about the flag icons on list of current fighters. It states the following: "The flagicon listed in these tables are in accordance with the UFC's official telecasts and may not fully or accurately represent the full citizenship of the peoples listed."

I removed Cortney Casey, Gregor Gillepsie, Istela Nunes and Jeff Molina from the current fighters page. the Roster Watch account reported their dismissals too. Awards for 2024

Cassiopeia is adding #2-10 UFC.com awards https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_in_UFC on each individual fighter's page. I think historically, we only added rank #1 dating back to 2006. What do you think? I do not think we can date back and put all the rankings for ufc.com awards. I do not think it was ever done and it is not necessary to do so. Thoughts? This was written by UFC senior writer Thomas Gerbasi, who writes the ufc.com awards. Do you think it would be cool to have a page dedicated to all those unofficial awards. You added the drafted ones to the main roster but the format is wrong. It is using the "months since last bout" version. Do you want to use a "reference" like UFC or use the one that's on Bellator.

Also, the problem with GFL is they have a points system and teams. We classified fighters by weight divisions but they are actually on teams as well with a point system of finishes/decisions/draws/decision losses/finish loss.

Ilia Topuria

Can you check the number of fighters on "list of current ufc fighters". Ilia Topuria is now listed as Spanish as per sherdog - https://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Ilia-Topuria-202445. Some editors are going back and forth between Georgia and Spain. I saw numbers change but I am not sure if the ESP/GEO numbers are correct. Disruptive name changes?

Hi,

I want to seek your guidance regarding user Kaiyr. You have previously dealt with him for the article Sayran Nurdanbek where you reverted his edit here. Well he is doing it again. He is changing the Chinese athletes of Kazakh descent to have their pages moved to use a different name. Apparently the user thinks we should not use these sinolized name and use a Kazakh version instead which you can't really see anywhere in english media. I disagree with this approach and consider it disruptive editing. For example Habila Abusayman, Walihan Sailike and Ulan Toleugazy the database names are different and for the first one, the database link doesn't even work anymore because the name doesn't match. This is not the first time the user has done this as both you and I have reverted these edits back in 2023. Im getting a bit tired of this so rather than getting into an edit war, I would like to seek your view on this first and see this time if we need to make sure the user gets the message.

The user says they cannot because they are not independent, but UFC.com's Events page is used for moving bouts to the Fight Card on Wikipedia, so this is a conflict. We are also not dealing with subjective information that needs verification. We are dealing with a company's event and bouts. Usuallly, when posted on their official social media accounts, the media sites follow anyway, so I feel ESPN/UFC's pages are fine.

I ask because https://www.espn.com.mx/artes-marciales-mixtas/nota/_/id/14758228/ufc-venezolano-alberto-montes-debut-mexicano-roberto-romero was a link I posted but it was removed because it was not "reliable" but it is obviously reliable.

I, others editors / admins have explained to you about sources many times for the last two years and have provided you the links for your perusal many times but I guess you didnt read them. I didnt state not reliable but NOT independent because of the affiliation/association/connection with UFC since they have business dealings (contract).

Independent source - Please read - (1) "Conflicts of interest" under Wikipedia:Independent sources#Non-independent sources, (2) "Relationship to primary and secondary sources" and (3) "Third-party versus independent" under Related concepts.

For use of primary source sparingly: Primary sources can be used to present straightforward, descriptive statements that are directly supported by the source itself. This ensures that any educated reader can verify the content without requiring specialist knowledge or interpretation. For example, quoting a court transcript to illustrate a witness's testimony is acceptable, but interpreting the testimony as fact requires secondary sources - see "An article about a busine" under Primary sources should be used carefully (note: can be used in article but does not contribute to the WP:N requirement for an article)

This is relating to subjective comments, not facts that are merely repeated by other news sites. Bout announcements is not subjective and does not say "The UFC is the best promotion in the world" and we do not use the UFC source for that.

In the future, I will put this in a public forum with other senior editors and hopefully you will side with the majority consensus, because it is frustrating going over this with you repeatedly.

Fix your English for the namechanges, because your explanation does not make sense. You cannot just change Park Jun Yong like you did. Why do you allow UFC.com/Events to be the source for the "Main card" then, and not the ESPN website. Why is that okay? Think about what you are asking people to do. If UFC.com/Events' page is accurate, then their UFC.com reports on "BOUT ANNOUNCEMENTS" are accurate as well.
