Promotion of Mascarene teal
[edit]Congratulations from devil. :) I love those articles about dead birds. OJJ (talk) 08:30, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- And thanks for your thorough review! The article had unusually many mistakes, but I must admit it was difficult for me to concentrate during the writing period due to various real life events, and I haven't been writing many articles lately for that reason. But hopefully I will continue with a clearer head... Have you considered writing on the English Wikipedia as well? There are plenty of extinct birds left! FunkMonk (talk) 15:19, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Rodrigues parakeet
[edit]
Hi FunkMonk; I came across something you'd like on social media and managed to get it released under a free license. These are, in the words of the photographer, 'the only two Rodrigues parakeet specimen in existence', and are not usually publicly viewable. I'll leave it to you to work out where the image belongs in the article, but I hope you agree with me that it would be a good addition! Josh Milburn (talk) 17:46, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- Wow, yeah, that's perfect, thanks! But a very sad image... I've now added it to the paragraph where they're discussed. FunkMonk (talk) 17:54, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- I agree; tragic. The reason Dolly was looking at them is that she's just written a book about encounters with extinct animals in museums; I've not read it, but I'd imagine those sorts of emotions are one of the things she explores. (Actually, looks like her Wikipedia article needs updating...) Josh Milburn (talk) 18:46, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- That book looks right up my alley! Oh, and she's a fellow Scandinavian, I see. FunkMonk (talk) 19:17, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
