Conflict of interest and promotional editing
[edit] Hello, Captainhoff. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Steve Hoffman (businessman), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 03:57, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

[edit] Hello, I'm Serols. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Steve Hoffman (businessman)— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. Serols (talk) 19:19, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
Article about you
[edit]Hi Captainhoff, I understand what you have been saying in your edits, but adding your request to the article itself is not the place to do this. You can use the talk page instead to make comments about the article, including requests to change content on it, or even for it to be deleted. Alternatively, if you read WP:BIOSELF you will see a link on how to contact the oversight about requesting the article be removed. Thank you Melcous (talk) 23:43, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
Wapo says Steve Hoffman became CEO of reddit
[edit]"Pao did indeed resign from Reddit in early July — though since then, it’s become increasingly clear that she shouldn’t have had to. Most mainstream commentators and Redditors now agree that the anti-harassment rules were good; in fact, Reddit has taken them further since Steve Hoffman became CEO."
So, is that you? Geo Swan (talk) 01:58, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

Please help me with... Steve Hoffman's bio is about me. As anyone can see, it's hopelessly outdated. Is it possible to either updated it or remove it. I'd prefer to have it removed since it's not being maintained. Thanks. Talk:Steve Hoffman (businessman) Captainhoff (talk) 00:43, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- Please review how to make edit requests and request any changes you feel are needed on that article talk page, changes preferably sourced to independent reliable sources. Articles are not deleted merely because the subject does not want one- this is because subjects do not determine if there is an article about them on Wikipedia or not, as articles summarize what independent reliable sources say. If you wish to argue that you do not meet the Wikipedia definition of a notable person, you may request deletion per WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE. An Articles for Deletion discussion would need to be started in such a case. 331dot (talk) 01:06, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
- Captainhoff, this article has been nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve Hoffman (businessman) (2nd nomination). Liz Read! Talk! 02:40, 23 December 2020 (UTC)
