CompE abbreviation

[edit]

CompE is a common abbreviation for computer engineering. I think it’s worth adding Retr0r0cketVersion2 (talk) 03:33, 26 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If nobody is objecting, I’ll add it in a week Retr0r0cketVersion2 (talk) 20:22, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Professions Subsection

[edit]

The Professions Subsection is arguably mislabeled (it’s about certifications), but those certifications are also generally irrelevant. Fields involving certifications in CpE are extremely rare (emphasis is placed on education level and experience instead of certifications) and do not have any form of standardization which that subsection states.

TL;DR it’s mislabeled, but even then what it states is extremely rare and non-standard because it doesn’t align with employment in the field Retr0r0cketVersion2 (talk) 20:45, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Does nobody have any objections to this? Retr0r0cket (talk) 02:03, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Benefits of Engineering in Society Section

[edit]

I read the “ Benefits of Engineering in Society” section and it seems to be a bunch of techno fluff filler that doesn’t add anything much and should be in another page like Engineering in Society Septagram (talk) 04:29, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Completely in agreement with you. There is almost nothing there pertaining to computer engineering and regardless as it’s not about the benefits of computer engineering, it doesn’t make sense to even have in the article Retr0r0cketVersion2 (talk) 20:10, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite of lead

[edit]

I've noticed the article's lead summary both contains a lot of redundant information and some inaccuracies

1. The fact thermodynamics are not relevant and electromagnetism isn't something a computer engineer will really ever have to deal with outside of niche embedded systems.

2. When discussing the scope of computer engineering, it mentions the same things multiple times and defines the scope differently on two occasions.

3. It has a weird mention of robotics

4. Fails to clarify that computer engineering is mostly about digital and not analog electronics

5. There's no widely agreed upon definition and as a result there isn't too much degree standardization. This is more of an education section comment, but it's still worth mentioning to some extent in my opinion
