Paul Albert Leitner

[edit]

hi, you've flagged the article Paul Albert Leitner as "like a resumé". this was almost a year ago, nothing happened since. are you willing to discuss this? everything's properly sourced and quoted and from people from the field. i'd be willing to work on this, but i'm not sure what the problem is. maybe things sound different in english than they do in german? thanks! Mars Mli (talk) 19:21, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, @Mars Mli I will have a look at it again, and get back to you here. I'm guessing it was probably flagged it while reviewing articles on New Page Patrol during a backlog, and it fell off my "radar screen". English WP and other language Wikipedias all have different standards for best practices and guidelines, so that may also be a factor. Netherzone (talk) 19:34, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Mars Mli, I had a look at the article, and see that the main problem was the long list of both solo and group exhibitions. I've moved these to the article talk page (and left a message there). The English Wikipedia's Manual of Style for visual arts states this about lists of exhibitions: Long lists of exhibitions should be avoided. It will rarely be useful to mention more than five exhibitions. For contemporary and modern artists the venue of exhibitions can be important evidence of notability, but only the most important should be given. My advice to you is to chose the five most prestigious solo shows (at either museums, major Kunsthalles or National Galleries (rather than commercial galleries or smaller venues); and make sure to add independent reliable sources to back up that these shows occurred (like a review, or a passage from an art history book or academic journal article). Then add these five exhibitions back to the article.
I also think the Awards section and Publications section and Further reading section can be trimmed per WP:NOTAWEBHOST and WP:NOTRESUME. Encyclopedia articles should be a synopsis of the most important accomplishments that contribute to a person's notability. The rest should be on the artist's personal website, or gallerists website.
Thanks you for creating the article and for your contributions! Netherzone (talk) 19:53, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
thanks so much for your detailed response. i appreciate this a lot. the exhib-list was not on my radar at all. i will work on this an get back to you. Mars Mli (talk) 13:38, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Mars Mli, you are welcome! Don't hesitate to ping me or reach out here again if you have any other questions, or would like me to review the article again before removing the maintenance tag at the top of the article. Happy editing! Netherzone (talk) 13:44, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
i definitely will ping our before removing the tag. all the best, m Mars Mli (talk) 13:46, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Edgar Fabián Frías

[edit]

Hi, User:Netherzone thank you for reviewing my draft Edgar Fabián Frías , i have improved the article as you mentioned by removing blogs and other unreliable source as well as tried to write this again in a more neutral point of view, i have few doubts where i need your help with, i wanted to know are we allowed to use They/Them pronouns to describe a person who have openly came out as Queer in public, i have read the guidelines based on that in Wikipedia where it tell that we can, but still wanted someone else opinion on this. other than that do let me know what other improvements should i make for this Wikipedia page to make it sounds more neutral, and reliably source, any kind of suggestion will be highly aspirated looking forward to hear from you soon, thanks! Frank Ludwig347 (talk) 03:00, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Frank Ludwig347, I will have deeper look at it when I get a chance in the next few days and let you know if any additional improvements are necessary. Thank you for your work improving the draft. Some of the tone still needs cleaning up, a couple things sound a bit promotional; and you should use their last name throughout rather than "Edgar". I'll get back to you at some point or make a few edits myself when I find the time. Of course it is perfectly OK to use they/them pronouns if that is what the person uses and/or it's in reliable sources. Thank you again for your contributions. Netherzone (talk) 14:07, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for the help! I will also do the changes as you suggested! Frank Ludwig347 (talk) 04:44, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions. When I come up for air I will have another look at the draft article (I'm quite busy at the moment). Happy editing. Netherzone (talk) 12:13, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for participating in the Articles for Creation June Backlog Drive! We've done amazing work so far, dropping the backlog by more than 2000 drafts already. We have around 700 drafts outstanding, and we need your help to get that down to zero in 5 days. We can do this, but we need all hands on deck to make this happen. A list of the pending drafts can be found at WP:AFCSORT, where you can select submissions in your area of interest. Thank you so much for your work so far, and happy reviewing! – DreamRimmer 01:33, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WP-article about a French artist that needs improvement, if you're interested. Stumbled on it at [1]. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:37, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there @Gråbergs Gråa Sång. Wow, thank you for thinking of me, but that would be a huge project to take on and I'm just not in the position of devoting a lot of time because of real-life commitments. The article is almost entirely unsourced, and mostly written in an anecdotal manner. It would require back-researching and retrofitting sources to match the current claims in the article. It seems that the best approach would be either TNT, or to prune it down to a short, but well sourced stub consisting of a paragraph or two (and moving the unsourced content to the talk page, or leave in article history.) That way editors could take their time rebuilding the content as sources are found.
Courtesy ping @Willthehelpfuleditor Do you have any thoughts on stubbification rather than retrofitting? Netherzone (talk) 18:47, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the courtesy ping! Of course absolutely echo everything you are saying. Stubbification might be a good (if possibly the best) next step. However, I was maybe going to take a run at it, try to touch it up, and going through the French versions sources prior to that. Overall, the translated article is in such rough shape that it will still certainly need an overhaul. I think you are far more experienced on this and thus I'll trust your judgement in the end regarding the best steps to proceed with. Willthehelpfuleditor (talk 23:30, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Willthehelpfuleditor - Go for it, if you think you can take a run at it based on the French version. That would be great! I have the French fluency of a 5 year old. Ha! If working off the French article proves too labor intensive, I'm happy to help with trimming it back to a stub once a few decent sources are found. I can't spend too much time because travel, life, and two big real life projects are in the works. Nice meeting you here! Netherzone (talk) 23:46, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Check out my talk, - if you have little time, listen to Gilda Cruz-Romo in the final scene of Aida, if you have more read her article, and if you have still more check out my music, some sung with me in choir, some played by friends, all heard with friends. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:17, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Gerda! I quickly looked at the article which looks great - will read more deeply and listen when I have the time. Such a wonderful portrait of Gilda! Will check out your music as well. Netherzone (talk) 18:46, 8 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! The image - as many others of articles I expand such as Helena Tattermuschová - was supplied by Storye book. - If you like Brahms, I recommend the streaming of yesterday's concert. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:30, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Today is Bastille Day, commemorated by a DYK as my "story" and a visit to the Bastille Opera in "music". I like the interview coming with the story, on the day before the big event, but for pomp and circumstance, the affair with 600 singing children and orchestra, and the singer dressed in the national flag, was also captured on videos, much slower. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:01, 14 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I remember a 2016 TFA in today's story, in memory of 16 July 1916. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:52, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Three Ukrainian topics were on the main page today, at least at the beginning, RD and DYK, - see my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:10, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

[edit]
Administrator Elections | Discussion phase

The discussion phase of the July 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase (we are here)
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • uly 30–c. Aug 3 - Scrutineering phase

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Discussion phase.

On July 23, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last approximately four days, or perhaps a little longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.
