DRs can make months to resolve. These are existing files that you want permission to update. I have to weigh whether to allow you to update. Understood. If I'm not mistaken, @HistoryKnowledge1925 is one contributor who approves of the rework. Any pushback against the new version seems to stem from the fact that it's inconsistent with existing files, somethinf which will evidently be resolved once all remaining files are updated. It's worth noting though that the standardisation is, to my knowledge, the first for any design of the Lion and Sun flag since 1979; I don't think there's any reason to believe that the new version is a downgrade. @Abzeronow No one approved Sodacan's upload in 2012, yet they radically changed many files. The standardisationt that I'm promoting is merely a touch-up of the emblem and resizing of it by a few pixels. The colours were just the closest pantones to the existing hex codes and the dimensions were likewise just the closest round numbers. ConflictFan (talk) 04:08, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

The issue is that I need some form of justification to allow an overwrite to these files after User:The Squirrel Conspiracy expressed concerns about these flags (which is why he revoked autopatroller) and this request is related to that. Allow overwriting of File:Kinship Systems vertical.svg, File:Kinship Systems.svg, and File:Eskimo-kinship-chart.png

To change "Eskimo kinship" to "Inuit kinship," as that is the more modern term as well as lining up with its Wikipedia article. Additionally, the term "Eskimo" has a lot of controversy surrounding it, and there is practically no reason to keep using it in this situation, since it is not referring to both the Inuit and Yupik as a group. The Wikipedia article itself even states so. The File:Eskimo-kinship-chart.png would be much harder to change, since it is a png image and not an easily editable svg like the others. Perhaps I could re-create it as an svg, which would be more preferable for this kind of image anyways? It's not like there is existing consistency across the kinship pages, as the one for Hawaiian uses a different style. GiggyMantis (talk) 19:03, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

I am the original creator of Wikipedia's wikipedia:Telephonoscope article and the original uploader almost two decades ago. It was moved to Wikipedia commons, but I don't have overwrite permission for the image I original uploaded before Commons. I found a much sharper image at https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/the-telephonoscope-1879/ and I would like to replace it with the massively improved version with the tiny text much more readable.
