04:09:03, 3 December 2019 review of draft by Nawab Afridi

Nawab Afridi (talk) 04:09, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nawab Afridi, You might wish to ask MJL, the reviewer who looked at your draft last, for feedback. They are very friendly and would almost certainly review it again if you left a note on their talk page. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:43, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

08:28:16, 3 December 2019 review of submission by Aheisk

Hello Wikipedia, my submission of an entry on Christopher Lloyd sometime ago was rejected. Christopher Lloyd is a very prominent Australian-Finnish professor with many achievements, including election to the Finnish Academy of Arts and Sciences. Now I have discovered that there is an entry for a young English person – Grace Blakeley – whose achievements are very scant compared with Christopher Lloyd's achievements yet she has an entry and he doesn't. Can you explain this to me please? Thank you. Aheisk.

Aheisk (talk) 08:28, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Other stuff exists, Grace Blakeley is well sourced and passes notability guidelines. 12:32, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

Request on 08:53:34, 3 December 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Megha101

Can i share the school establishment document with the support team of Wikipedia as a proof of existence as we don;t have much of presence online since it is a new school. Megha101 (talk) 08:53, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Megha101, That is not sufficient. We need published sources in order for them to be reliable. If published sources do not exist, the subject is not notable. Also, there is no Wikipedia support team that does what you suggest, just volunteer editors who review these articles. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:42, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 18:08:56, 3 December 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Sunnymish

Hi I got rid of the copyrighted material from the article I want to create, and was wondering how to try and get it published again, currently the edited version is in my drafts. Thanks any help would be great.

Sunnymish (talk) 18:08, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sunnymish. If you are asking about Draft:Manju Sheth, there is now a button on it that will let you submit it for review, but it would not be accepted in its current state. You may find Help:Your first article helpful. Concentrate on finding independent, reliable sources which prove that she is notable. Remove statements from the draft for which you cannot cite reliable, published sources. --Worldbruce (talk) 19:36, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

19:41:19, 3 December 2019 review of draft by 73.215.83.120

Hello, I am puzzled as to why my new page creation did not pass. Can you please let me know which references are needed? This page is for a company that has split from an existing company - Williams Lea Tag -- which already has an existing Wikipedia page. There is plenty of evidence of the company split, as seen in the references provided. These references are from neutral third parties including PrintWeek, campaignlive.co.uk and Marketing Interactive - none of which are "passing references", as the sources only talk about the company split. Please let me know what more I am supposed to provide.

73.215.83.120 (talk) 19:41, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the comments provided on the draft, in particular WP:NCORP. Mere existence of a company is not enough to prove notability, and the fact that it split from a company with a company with a page already does not matter, because WP:Notability is not inherited. All of your sources are coverage of routine business activities and press releases, which do not contribute to notability. See WP:CORPDEPTH. shoy (reactions) 15:48, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

20:53:25, 3 December 2019 review of submission by Tedfmyers

Hello, I would love to have some feedback on my article. I previously asked for help, but my question was archived before anyone was able to give me any comments. See here for my previous question: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation/Help_desk/Archives/2019_November_15#22:19:34.2C_15_November_2019_review_of_submission_by_Tedfmyers

To summarize my prior question, I believe that the subject of my article passes WP:NCORP due to sufficient number of significant, independent, reliable, and secondary articles cited. Would one of you kind reviewers take a look and give me your opinion on the matter?

Tedfmyers (talk) 20:53, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Tedfmyers: Given you're asking for a second review, which means looking through all sources again, could you link here 3 (best) sources that you believe pass WP:GNG and thus WP:CORPDEPTH that are 1) reliable/reuptable 2) secondary/independent 3) significant/in-depth. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 21:23, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hellknowz: Hi Hellknowz, thanks for the quick response! The three sources I'd choose are Source 7,[1] Source 13,[2] and Source 19.[3] (The Marketplace, Harvard Business Review, and Science Magazine articles). Hope this helps with the review process! marketplace source is not in-depth; there are only a couple paragraphs about the company and half is by Kuhl. hbr looks decent; the article isn't directly about the company, but it ends up basically talking for half of it, including company's founding, funding, prototypes, plans. sciencemag is also not in-depth; there are barely two paragraphs about the company and aren't even exclusively about the company. I'm afraid that's one decent source (although I imagine editors may argue even in that one the company isn't the subject of the article, although I would argue that it's on the threshold of significant coverage). —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 10:18, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hellknowz: Thank you for the evaluation, you’re helping me better understand the rules; especially the threshold for significant/in-depth coverage. I agree with you that the subject of an article doesn’t need to be main topic of the source material (as the WP:GNG states) - so the HBR article is a passable source (if not the other two I proposed earlier due to lack of coverage). Here are two different articles I believe are significant enough, and fulfill all other requirements: source 8[1] and source 11[2]. (Greenbiz and Vice articles). Both these articles spend multiple paragraphs discussing the environmental and business impact of the company.

These do look pretty good to me. They are heavy on quoting the company/persons but that's more or less fine. They are focused on the company's work and provide a good deal of detail and history. So I'd say this reaches the bare minimum threshold. Plus, there are a bunch of other sources to supplement. I might take a look at the draft later. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 22:37, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

04:49:09, 4 December 2019 review of draft by IJK193

I have cleaned up the article and I would like an extra hand to check it out. According to Wikipedia, it should be written from a natural point of view, I have addressed this. The article doesn't look promotional in content but written from the natural point of view but I still need an extra hand to check it out.

IJK193 (talk) 04:49, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

IJK193, Perhaps you mean a neutral point of view? Regardless, I see the issue as one of notability, i.e. who gets to have an article. I'm not sure what this guy has done to warrant a Wikipedia article, he doesn't appear to meet the musician notability guidelines. Some more sources are needed. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:36, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
CaptainEek, He has no business with WP:NMUSIC cause his, not a musician. He appears to meet WP:ANYBIO and WP:NMODEL due to this contribution as an executive and talent manager.--IJK193 (talk) 05:31, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I need to know why my drafts, articles are being rejected by the wiki, as there are many pages, articles of individual companies and brands, so don't they do the marketing and promote themself over wiki? Example links: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Teahouse https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_4_Less

Priyanka8971 (talk) 08:20, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Priyanka8971: Wikipedia articles are supposed to be written by volunteers, not company representatives. They are not social media pages or profiles that represent a company directly (see WP:NOTPROMO). Such editors are WP:PAID editors with a conflict of interest. The company you are trying to promote here was founded this year and the article has zero reliable sources to prove notability. shoy (reactions) 15:54, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Shubham Mishra is one of the youngest security leaders in India. He is associated with many governments like U.P police, CBI and training many officials in various sectors of cybersecurity. Do consider this article for creation.

Thank You Jain13tushar (talk) 11:48, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jain13tushar, Have considered. This person is not notable for inclusion, as he does not have enough independent coverage of him. Request on 12:32:12, 4 December 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Pageturners

The Wikipedia entry for Cyclingworks Dublin has been rejected, on the basis that it's not notable enough for Wikipedia. Surely this isn't correct? Multinationals, universities, unions and firms representing over 400,000 people in a city with a population of 1.5 million have asked the Government to provide safe cycling infrastructure, in a drive that is continuing with new organisations joining - surely this is notable.

Pageturners (talk) 12:32, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Pageturners:, please read WP:NORG which explains that we assess notability by to what extent other reliable, independent publications have already written in depth about the subject. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:52, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

== Replying to this (I'm Pageturners) - here are some links about the project. It hasn't had a lot of press coverage, but on the website of the project itself you can see the logos of the 101 companies and organisations that have so far written to the Irish Government seeking safe infrastructure for cyclists in Dublin. A little of the press coverage: The Irish Times last year: "Dublin businesses call for safe cycling infrastructure in the city" https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/dublin-businesses-call-for-safer-cycling-infrastructure-in-city-1.3550891 ; the newsletter of Fórsa, the second-largest union in the country, representing civil servants: " Fórsa backs cycle network plan" http://forsatradeunion.newsweaver.com/designtest/14fjh4llsk8?a=3&p=54228001&t=30058761 ; Orwell Wheelers, Dublin's largest cycling club (Cyclingworks Dublin was started shortly after one of the club's members was killed on a training run) "Cycling Works Dublin Initiative: https://www.orwellwheelers.org/forum/8-miscellaneous-club-chatter/6845-cycling-works-dublin-initiative ; Dublin Chamber of Commerce: "Dublin Firms Join Forces to Demand Better Cycling Infrastructure" https://www.dublinchamber.ie/media/news/july-2018/dublin-firms-join-forces-to-demand-better-cycling ; Trinity College Dublin (the country's oldest and most prestigious university, founded by the English queen Elizabeth I) "Trinity supports campaign for improved cycling infrastructure" http://trinitynews.ie/2018/05/trinity-supports-campaign-for-improved-cycling-infrastructure/

I hope this sample is enough. Pageturners (talk) 08:55, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pageturners. The size, popularity, or virtuousness of an organization is not what determines its suitabiliy for being a stand alone article in an encyclopedia. A good example of an article about an organization is Seacology. Contrast it and WP:WHYN with the reliable and independent information available about Cyclingworks Dublin. All that The Irish Times says about CyclingWorks, for example, is that Stephen McManus is its co-founder. Based on the sample you've provided, I concur with the other reviewers that the organization is not sufficiently notable for inclusion at this time. --Worldbruce (talk) 16:31, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

== The only reason for seeking an entry is that Wikipedia is useful because journalists and others check it as a source. Pageturners (talk) 12:30, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

14:46:41, 4 December 2019 review of submission by MarcoLaudato

Hello :)

I have amended the article according to the reviewers' criticisms. In particular, I have added two secondary sources (from European Mathematical Society) and I have removed the Mission Statement section. Moreover, all the external links have been removed from the body of the article.

Please, let me know if something else needs to be done!

Kind regards, Marco MarcoLaudato (talk) 14:46, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

14:53:22, 4 December 2019 review of draft by Jtorpy

Jtorpy (talk) 14:53, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Thank you for your feedback on the most recently submitted draft. I am wondering as to which statements (a couple examples would be helpful, not necessarily every case) qualify as "individual statement[s] of importance of judgment" to be removed might be? Much of the information in the article is most readily available via internal sources, but knowing which remaining aspects are problematic would help target the search for external sources

Hi Jtorpy. Avoid stating as facts things that are opinions (as to importance, as to why, and as to other matters of judgement). Furthermore, do not state opinions in Wikipedia's voice. Examples:
  1. "Perhaps most importantly, ..."
  2. "Due to the relative seclusion of Ann Arbor, ..."
  3. "From this legislature grew a tradition ..."
  4. "Hindsdale, like most of the early museum researchers, made important contributions ..."
  5. "This contribution ... cemented his legacy as a pioneer in ethnobotany."

I'm studying a web develope course in english and we have been asked to post an article in wikipedia or other wiki sites. I have choose the this topic as it's a game im playing rigth now. I have base the article in the information of the developer page and some articles as well as my own experience. I have been asked to provide some links but as im using my own experience and developers information, I don't reallly know what to provide. Jordifernanjo (talk) 17:04, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles are based on independent reliable sources, we have no interest in what the developer says, or in what you or I know about the topic. So the draft cannot be accepted. Theroadislong (talk) 17:27, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

17:40:57, 4 December 2019 review of draft by Josef Hoffman

How to create an article ?

Josef Hoffman (talk) 17:40, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Josef Hoffman, Howdy hello! You will need to submit the article for review through the Articles for Creation process. You can do that by clicking the blue submit box on your draft. But I recommend you don't do that yet, as your article is not yet sufficient. It has no sources, and will likely be failed promptly. You need at least 3 reliable and independent sources in the article. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 17:44, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The wikipedia page of Abass Dodoo has followed the exact same format as his fellow band members I.e Ginger Baker, Pee Wee Ellis and Alec Dankworth. Abass Dodoo is even referenced on those published Wikipedia pages. It does not make sense that those three pages are accepted and published but Abass Dodoo's page is not being published. Even though it is the exact same format, style and content.

Can the inconsistency be explained and if it can not then the page needs to be published.

Cheznous88 (talk) 22:27, 5 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cheznous88, It is in the review queue. Please be patient for someone to review it. Also, be careful about comparing your article to existing ones. Many of the articles on Wikipedia were created before we began the rigorous Article for Creation process. That means a lot of ...honestly junk articles were created, and many of them have slipped through the cracks. You can read more about the logical fallacies involved in article comparison at WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 05:35, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

14:18:33, 6 December 2019 review of draft by Emery.geyer

Greetings, I am trying to get an article published that is just a factual statement about Vola Guitars and their CEO Shawn Cho. Although they do not have the historical background as other guitar manufacturers such as Fender, Gibson, etc., they still are a guitar brand led by an industry pro in Shawn Cho. Plus, since they are a younger company, the internet is not littered with third-party articles that I can use as references, but there are a few.

I understand that "notability" and "reference-able" information is required, however, if you look at some other guitar brands on Wikipedia - Caparison Guitars as an example - their Wiki article was accepted, but is now flagged as "contains content that is written like an advertisement", yet is still up & live. I just think that a double-standard exists here and would love some help on creating a factual article, that passes the requirements to be accepted and published as a Wiki article.

I have updated my last denied article. Where can I show people this updated article and get some help on it without it being deleted before someone can help?

Please understand, I am not trying to be difficult and I LOVE Wikipedia!!! Maybe I am just bad at word-smithing ??  :/

Thank you!!!

Emery.geyer (talk) 14:18, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Emery.geyer. Wikipedia is forever a work in progress. It contains high quality articles and poor quality articles. The existence of an article does not mean it meets Wikipedia's requirements, has been "accepted", or should exist. It may mean only that no one has gotten around yet to fixing it or deleting it. Existence is not a good excuse to create additional unsuitable pages. The essay WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS may help you understand why. Wikipedia is not a business directory and may not be used for advertising, promotion, or public relations. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:37, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this draft article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:International_Association_of_Coaching

appears linked to the profile for Thomas J. Leonard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_J._Leonard

There is another organisation this man founded which also has a profile on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Coach_Federation

The page above, named 'Draft:International_Association_of_Coaching' appears to be set for a review. I have added to the original draft and wonder whether it is best to await a Review, or simply delete it and recreate it as a new page??? Haven't dealt with a Draft page before so don't fully understand the best way to proceed.

User:Theroadislong kindly reviewed my draft for a new article about a new company here in NYC. I would appreciate a bit more specific feedback about which aspect of this article seems to not be neutral. I spent a lot of time trying to research reliable news sources. This company has ads all over the New York City subway and bus system and I felt this was well worth inclusion in Wikipedia, especially since I was able to find so many articles about them. I'm happy to do the leg work and to try to adjust tone or to do more research, if you wouldn't mind helping me understand which areas to clean up. Well what you need here are some sources. Wikipedia articles are built on sources, such as book reviews. If you can look up and find at least 3 book reviews, we can go from there. You may wish to read the Wikipedia article for Diamonds Are Forever (novel) or The Fountainhead to get an idea of how an article about a book should be written. The article as is needs to be entirely rewritten and structured like a typical Wikipedia article. You cannot just have a plot summary. You need at least a reception section, discussing reviews of the book. If you cannot find reviews, then the book is not notable, i.e. we cannot give it an article. I hope you have done much better than this guy but I think a person who has dedicated his life for well-being of underprivileged and marginalized communities and who daily faces threats for being an advocate of religious minorities at least deserved to be highlighted on wikipedia. I wish we could be able to honour such person in his life, not after his death.

@Nawab Afridi: Wikipedia has precise guidelines for miniumum article criteria, which are outlined in notability. We are an encyclopedia and this means having quality sources for all the content. There is the bare minimum of sources required for a stand-alone article and the vast majority of people do not reach this threshold, many whom happen to be distinguished persons by outside measures. But Wikipedia does not base articles on any such (subjective) criteria like someone's fame, importance or the need to honor them. This simply is not the purpose and goal of Wikipedia and we cannot accept articles unless they are sourced by at least multiple independent reliable in-depth sources. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 16:40, 7 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Hellknowz: I have been using wikipedia for last 15 years and I know very well how distinguished profiles are added in this website. I don't wish to criticize many existing profiles but it is a separate matter. It is a bit weird for me that an activist whose nobility and notability has been globally accepted through a noble prize, does not qualify for wikipedia. If noble laureates are even not worthy to be highlighted on wikipedia then who else can achieve some space here. Anyways, you may please delete this draft. I have no complaints.

I just started an article called 'Kenya Diary'. It's meant to be a summary of all events/news happening in my country everyday but i got a decline with commentary that it is not fit for Wikipedia.

Can someone kindly tell me what is wrong with that. I have read the rules on news reporting and I can't seem to see the reason why it was declined based on those rules.

Felixchery (talk) 09:37, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Felixchery, it has been declined because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. A summary of events happening isn't the purpose of Wikipedia. There are lists of events that exist and are encyclopedic, but these will be lists of events with existing articles, that fit a theme - for example List of events at the O2 Arena is fine, but a list when every event that has taken place there would not be. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 11:22, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gorlapraveen123, For starters, you have a conflict of interest. I have posted more info on your talk page about how to deal with that.
For the article, most of the sources are just from the subject's website. That is not tenable. You need independent sources. In order to show notability, you need independent coverage in at least 3 reliable sources. It also seems overly promotional to me. The language should be neutral. An encyclopedia covers a subject from a disinterested perspective, and formally. It does not seek to show off any part of the subject. Amit Srivastava (talk) 09:21, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why you are purposefully declining articles on Pushpendra Kulshrestha? Whereas you immediately approve the articles on Islamic terrorists. What is your agenda?

  1. The draft was indeed purposefully declined - every decline is done for a reason
  2. Our "Agenda" is whether a draft meets our notability requirements
  3. The draft's secondary (newspaper, books etc - not court papers) sources don't cover Pushpendra himself in enough detail. You need multiple, secondary, in-depth (10+ lines on him) sources that are also independent (which also rules out most interviews) and reliable.
  4. I hadn't noticed an AfC-wide plan to prioritise articles about Islamic terrorists, presumably ones without suitable sourcing - please give examples so I can review them. Nosebagbear (talk) 11:11, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David.moreno72.

I followed your guideline and advice on talk page, and tried to follow WP:LISTN with companies only listed on Wikipedia. I deleted all URLs.

Can I resubmit Draft:Swedish Video Game Industry? Please can you tell me what else I need to do in the article?

Wish you all the best

Tony TonyWestling-Dataspelsbranschen (talk) 10:58, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

TonyWestling-Dataspelsbranschen, as it seems to have become more of a list article, rather than a directory, I've resubmitted it. There are no guarantees the reviewer at the end agrees with me though. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 12:31, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've also moved it to Draft:List of Swedish video game developers, which I think better reflects the content. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 12:34, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Why is this list necessary when we have List of video game developers? (VG project consensus has established to allow only notable articles/entries.) This article would be a split from it but I don't see a clear reason why it's needed. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 16:22, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Adjusted the notability based on wikipedia musician notability standards. This should satisfy #6 & #7 of the notability standards based on being a prominent member of at least two individually prominent ensembles, and showing the prominence of Freestyle Kingz.

Frakes928 (talk) 16:46, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Frakes928, You still only have three sources. That is not sufficient. Also, if his ensembles do not have articles currently, you must prove that those ensembles are notable. In general, most of the article lacks inline citations, which needs to be remedied. If sources backing up the info cannot be found, then the article is not notable. Slasher2point1, Our way of changing the title of a page is to "move" it. We call them moves because we move the page and its history to a new title. Its based on how the server backend works. You can move a page if you have made enough edits and been around long enough by using the "more" dropdown menu near the top of a page and changing it. Luckily, I see you've figured out how to do that already! Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 19:18, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if you could help fix the title for my page. I made a page for actor Tommy Nelson, but the heading is listed as "Thomas Daniel Nelson" his full name, but I meant for it to be "Tommy Nelson." I am having trouble fixing it and was wondering how I go about doing so? Thank you.

Jordifernanjo (talk) 08:58, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Jordifernanjo: As the reviewer remarked, the draft has no suitable sources for establishing notability and will not be published in its current state. Since you didn't add any such sources after two reviews, we can only assume there are none and reviewer's decision to decline the article is correct at this time. Unless the game receives coverage such as in-depth reviews from sources such as those listed here, I'm afraid there really isn't anything you can do to have it published. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and we rely on sources. I don't know why you need to have this article published before Christmas, but this isn't a criteria we would use for deciding on content to include (if you happen to have connection with the subject matter, you must disclose it). —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 10:51, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified."

NBC, The TENNESSEAN, The WILSON, THE VOICE, are ALL reliable sources. I looked at 10 different articles, cut and paste exactly as they did theirs and you are rejecting? Sundance Head, Frank Sims, etc... Please explain and do I delete citations, or just get someone else to review?

Jingleman2 (talk) 20:28, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jingleman2. I rather suspect that the reveiwer looked only at the sources used as inline citations. of those, the allmusic and discogs souces are mere track listings with no detailed coverage at all. Moreover, some editors question the reliability of Discogs in any case. The Two NBC.com sources go to pages no longer on display, so there is effectively no source for either of those. The popvortex source is blocked by my firewall as unsafe, so i cannot evaluate it. The 7th cited source is a wiki, and is therefor not reliable and should be removed.
Of the general references not used in the draft as inline cites, The Tennessean articel is faitrly good, althoguh it is partly an interview, which reduces its value. The 2paragraphs source is a bit brief to count as "in depth" coverage, but has some value. The Wilsomn Post seems to be local hometown coverage, and so of limited value. The Idol Chatter source seems not bad, although perhaps a bit superficial. Also i don;'t know that site or how reliable it is considered. The Chronicle Of Mt Juliet is a deaad link at elast for me -- an archived version might be found, I don't have time to look just now. In any case it looks like another case of local hometown reporting. Channel 10 News looks not bad, but again in significant part an interview. And finally there is another wiki, which is again of no use and should be removed promptly.
If the non-local sources from the second group are used in-line, and one or two more on the level of the Tennessean are also added and used, or if the NBC sources can be recorved from an archive site, things might be in pretty good shape. 22:05:14, 11 December 2019 review of submission by DougHill

Allen Estrin is clearly notable as the co-creator of PragerU. Whatever one may think of PragerU, it's one of the biggest (if not the biggest) providers of political videos on the internet. And if one looks at the sources cited, one can see that PragerU would not exist if it were not for Estrin. (I added a new one, but the pre-existing ones already establish this.) One criticism is that the independent articles cited are not directly about Estrin. This is true, but Estrin is not the public face of PragerU, Dennis Prager is. Can a key person in a major enterprise, but not out in front of it, be notable?

Thanks in advance for replies, and thanks for the quick turnaround so far. DougHill (talk) 22:05, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

if one looks, none of the sources are independent coverage. I would expect someone applying for AFC to understand that interviews, Amazon and listing aren’t valid sources. Praxidicae (talk) 00:59, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Aren't Mother Jones and Daily Signal independent coverage? (Even if they interview their subjects as part of their story?) Of course PragerU is extremely dependent, but that link does show that he's a co-founder. (The other links just show that he did indeed write or do the things the article credits him for.) DougHill (talk) 01:27, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
DougHill The Mother Jones piece is indeed significant independant coverage, with a though article about Estrin and his work before the interview section starts. Two more like this and i would approve the draft. Praxidicae should probably have noted that. The Daily Signal piece is a more traditional interview, where more than half of the content comes from the subject. But it is unlike the classic interview, wheer a reporter asks short questions and the subject gives long answers. Those are not considered independent here, because all the significant information is in the words of the subject. The Daily Signal story has significant editotrial content in the reporter's voice, i would count it as perhaps 1/2 of the usual three essential sources. As to the other cited sources:
  • The first is from his business, PragerU, clearly not independent and too breif to be of much value even if it were. Does nothign for notability.
  • The moviews.disney is just an announcement of a production, and does not even mention Estrin . It should be removced from the draft as of no value whatever.
  • The LA times review would be of value in an article about the film Bare Essentials but it again does not even mention Estrin 's name.
  • The 7thart piece very breifly describes a production by Estrin, and does mention his name, but does not help the case for notability. It also looks as if it is largely based on a press release, but even if it is independant, it is not significant coverage.
  • The Amazon listing should be removed promptly. An OCLC or google book link, or even jsut the title, publisher, date and ISBN are enough to support a statement that the book exoists and Estrin was a co-author. An actual independent reveiw of the book might contribute to notability under WP:NAUTHOR. This does not.
I hope that makes things a bit clearer. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 15:07, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to re-submit this article because this person is very well known in Telecom (VAS- Value Added Service) in Myanmar. He has a lot of operator experiences and he has many friends/colleagues in Telecom field. Even not in Myanmar Country, he is also famous among foreign Telecom countries. So, I want to do this article about him, aim that the other people can search easily about Zat's information. If other foreign Telecom company that want to invest in Myanmar can know/search about his information, it may become good effective on both side.

Chrisanna Jolly (talk) 04:51, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Chrisanna Jolly. None of the sources now cited in the drat comes anywhere close to demonstrating the notability of Zay Yar Phyo. The reviewer, Theroadislong did a "rejection" not a mere "decline" meanign that the reviewer does not think any amount of editing would demonstrae notability of this person, and you should not waste your time or that of future reviewers. What would be needed to demonstrate notability is multiple independent published reliable sources, at least three of them, each of which discusses Zay Yar Phyo in some detail. See our guideline on notability for people. How many friends Zay Yar Phyo has, or what he has accomplished. Nor is Wikipedia interested in helping publicize him to potential investors or business associates. An ordinary web page would serve that function. Nor do interviews, even if he were to do them, help much. Interviews show what he says about himself. Wikipedia needs to know what other people, people who are not friends, family, or close associates, have already published about Zay Yar Phyo in reliable sources. Unless there is enough of that to base an article on, this will not go forward. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 14:29, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In fact the current cited soiurces are his linked-in page, his email, and a document from his employer, if I mam reading it correctly. (edit conflict)@Texas Black Walnut: See Help:Referencing for beginners for how to cite sources. (All sources are external, since Wikipedia, being user-generated, is not a reliable source). Sources need not be online. When referencing a source, there should always be a bibliographic description of it, but there may or may not be a URL link to it.

I have tried twice to get an article for a band, that I'm a big fan of, published. I added more references the second time, as that's what I translated the reason for the first rejection to be. The second rejection says it doesn't meet the criteria. However, when I read the criteria, the band does meet it.

The list Criteria for musicians and ensembles has 12 points that the band must meet at least one of. The band, I am trying to create the article for, meets several. I thought I had gotten this across in my article, but perhaps I haven't?

Could use some clear direction, and layman's terms preferred, as I find the responses that Wikipedia sends back a bit like trying to decipher legal jargon. I appreciate any time and help you can give to help me get this article published, as I feel this band deserves some notoriety.

Kind Regards, Allie

AlliePippy (talk) 16:59, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You haven't made clear which of the criteria at WP:NMUSIC this band meets? You only have one source which looks reliable to me which is [1] Facebook, Spotify and their own website do not contribute to notability. Theroadislong (talk) 17:09, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @AlliePippy: The criteria you mention at WP:NBAND are not strict rules. Firstly, WP:GNG is the "king" for determining presumed notability. The band criteria simply help narrow and slightly expand these based on years of consensus and experience with other articles. The key introductory sentence says that the subject "may be notable" not that it definitely will be. If you don't have multiple reliable independent sources, then it mostly doesn't matter what additional criteria are met from supplementary notability guidelines for specific subject areas, because we can't write enough content using proper source. From those in the draft, [2] looks okayish, but short and focused on one event, while half the content is by the band themselves. May be [3] could be suitable if you can show that author's credentials as an established reliable reviewer. All the rest of the sources fail one of more criteria from WP:GNG. Also, can you specify exactly which NBAND criteria does this pass in your opinion? —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 17:17, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Hellknowz:@Theroadislong:Thanks for the feedback. More questions...
  1. 5Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable).

--They produced 2 albums with Linus Entertainment. My understanding is that Linus is a more important indie label.

  1. 10Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read the policy and notability guideline on subjects notable only for one event, for further clarifications).

-- Here is a list of where their music has been featured and used very prominently. The links to articles I included, talk about many of these. Outer Limits (television) Smallville (television) EA MLS Soccer (video game) Triple Play MLB (video game) SSX Tricky (video game) WWE Day of Reckoning (video game) Molson Canadian (national ad) Ford Canada (national ad) Vancouver Canucks (game play) Minnesota Wild (game play) Vancouver Giants (entrance theme) Jet Boy (motion picture) A Bug and a Bag of Weed (motion picture) CBC Hockey Night in Canada CFL Football TSN TSN Hockey Theme Musique Plus Intro Fox Sports

  1. 11Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network.

--Their music was on major radio stations in the past. Their new song is now being played on The Bear.

Why are the interview/articles I provided links to, not eligible? Aren't Allmusic.com with Artist Biography by Jason MacNeil, last.fm/music/shocore/+wik, Piquenewsmagazine.com, all credible?

There is no application fee or surrendered equity for applying. Codeauth Who is "we"? Wikipedia accounts are for single person use only. The draft is just blatant advertising. Theroadislong (talk) 18:39, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I want to confirm that I have properly submitted my article for review and where I should look to see if it has been published. I know this will take time. Thanks.

Two comments, first please follow the recommendations for referencing given, secondly if it is published, the draft page will be redirected to the published page and I that should also put a note on your talk page.Naraht (talk) 19:23, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Halper Creating a new article is one of the most difficult tasks on Wikipedia, you really need to read WP:REFB for help with formatting sources and you also need to ascertain whether your subject is actually notable. Theroadislong (talk) 20:08, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
