Scope
This project is focused on human colonization of space. It is not intended to cover robotic space exploration or historical manned spaceflight, or future activity analogous to historical manned spaceflight, i.e. minimal orbital space station or brief excursions to explore the Moon. Its scope begins with plans for more elaborate, hotel or hab type orbital space stations capable of permanent occupation by more than a handful of people at a time, and with plans for more elaborate human lunar expeditions capable of keeping humans on the Moon for months at a time. The scope goes up from there, to include human missions to Mars, up through terraforming, Dyson spheres, the Kardashev scale, etc.
It's important while working on this project to keep in mind Wikipedia policy: It is appropriate to report discussion and arguments about the prospects for success of future proposals and projects or whether some development will occur, provided that discussion is properly referenced. It is not appropriate for an editor to insert their own opinions or analysis, because of Wikipedia's prohibition on original research. Please keep that in mind while working on the articles.
Colonization of Titan* - This one article out of the Colonization collection may be approaching a consensus to merge with Outer Solar System, at least for the time being. See discussion.
Uniquely among the colonization entries, I think the one on Titan may be lacking in sources focusing specifically on it as opposed to the outer solar system in general. Thoughts? - Reaverdrop05:16, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's a no brainer and should be done once the AfD process completes. I also think that the Asteroid section should be removed from Colonization of the outer solar system, since many asteroids are in the inner solar system. Also the outer edge of the asteroid belt pretty much marks the limit of where solar power power is practical, which is an important demarcation in terms of colonies. --agr16:30, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, I added some material to Colonization of Titan and it's several times longer than it was when it was nominated, and beginning to be referenced. Colonization of Venus
Hi - I decided yesterday that Colonization of Venus is going to be the next article I turn into an FA (assuming things all go well). Nothing sudden as making an FA usually takes a month or so, but I'll be working on it a lot so if anyone wants to help out with adding references or anything else they're more than welcome. I read that pdf by Geoffrey A. Landis two days ago and though I knew before about the temperature up at 50 km, I didn't realize that the pressure's the same as here nor that breathable air floats, and so I'm convinced that this idea needs to be put into the spotlight. I believe there should be a comments/suggested cleanup section of this article, for people like me who just found it and want to say stuff- sorry if I just ruined something extremely important...
Anyway, I ALSO think humans in general should focus more on the tasks at hand: colonization of Mars by Virgle and NASA and what we think about how they are/will go about doing this...
I hope my suggestions help you do what you're trying to do.
