RFC, notification, on George Formby infobox

[edit]

There is an RFC underway on whether the page George Formby should have an infobox. G-13114 (talk) 11:30, 13 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The infobox in the article seems to imply that he was born 496, but in the article the date is stated it might be 526. Wikidata also seems to imply that he is the same person as this one, but I don't see a lot of crossover in their biographies. ★Trekker (talk) 18:32, 13 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request for input on AfD for actor, comedian and peace advocate Cliff Divine

[edit]

Hello, I am reaching out for outside input on an AfD discussion related to the article about Cliff Divine. There appear to be several misunderstandings in the discussion, so I am hoping that editors from this project can help review the notability question with a clear look at the sources. First, it is important to note that Cliff Divine and Andrew Cliff Tisba are the same person. This can be verified through interviews, festival programs, public nonprofit documents, and media profiles. Some news outlets use one name while others use the other, but they all refer to the same individual. This clarification is important because it affects how the sources are interpreted. The article includes a large number of independent secondary sources from established news organizations. These include ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Orlando Sentinel, KHON2, KTVB, KUTV, Q2 Billings, and several international outlets. In these reports he is not mentioned briefly. He appears on camera and is the central focus of the stories. Film festivals and award committees have also published material that covers his work in a principal role. A link was provided that contains more than thirty broadcast news segments from major networks where Cliff Divine is clearly identified by name on air. These are public, independent broadcasts, and they show significant coverage that meets the expectations of WP:BIO. Most of the sources cited in the article come from established newsrooms with full editorial oversight. They are not self published and not produced or controlled by the subject. They meet the requirements for independent and reliable sourcing in a biographical article. There is also reporting on his acting awards, his film appearances, and a multistate public initiative that drew repeated coverage. This combination of sources shows significant independent attention over time, which satisfies the criteria for biographical notability. For clarity, I am not the subject of the article. I am participating only to correct factual misunderstandings and to help ensure the discussion stays focused on source quality and policy rather than assumptions about editors. In short, the subject has extensive coverage from reliable independent sources, including dozens of television news reports and multiple print and online publications. These appear to meet the requirements of WP:BIO, and I believe that additional input from this project would be valuable in assessing the article. The AfD discussion is here:

Request for input on academic notability (Alexander A. Kaufman, geophysics)

[edit]

Hello, I am seeking an independent opinion from editors familiar with academic biographies in the sciences.

I am working on a draft article about Alexander A. Kaufman, a geophysicist known for contributions to electromagnetic sounding, induction logging theory, and EM field modeling. The draft is under AfC review, and the reviewer recommended obtaining additional input from editors experienced with academic notability (WP:GNG / WP:PROF).

I would greatly appreciate an independent assessment of whether the subject appears to meet notability criteria.

Request for help publishing Jonathan Ressler biography

[edit]

Request for experienced editor review and publication — Jonathan Ressler biography Hello. I am requesting help from an experienced editor to review and, if appropriate, move a neutral, fully sourced biography of Jonathan Ressler into mainspace. The draft has been repeatedly declined at Articles for Creation as “not sufficiently sourced,” but the subject clearly meets WP:GNG, WP:BIO, WP:ORG and WP:CREATIVE based on substantial independent coverage and academic analysis. Notability evidence has been compiled here with links to every major source: Notability evidence page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:BringdaThunder/Jonathan_Ressler_Notability

Neutral draft biography (clean, manually written, fully cited, no promotional language): Draft article:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:BringdaThunder/Jonathan_Ressler_Bio

The sources include two New York Times features, a Wall Street Journal feature, a Bloomberg BusinessWeek feature, a Time magazine feature, national Fox News and CNN coverage, an investigative feature in Maisonneuve, analysis in PR Watch, law review discussion in the UC Davis Business Law Journal and Brooklyn Law School’s Journal of Law and Policy, a Lund University thesis, and an interview appearance in the documentary “The Corporation,” used in university teaching materials. Because AfC has become adversarial in this case and is no longer engaging with the sources on policy grounds, I am asking for: A fresh review by an uninvolved, experienced editor, and Movement of the draft to mainspace if the sourcing is judged to meet notability. Predrag Nikolic

[edit]

I've prepared a draft biography of an academic/artist with full citations. As I'm the spouse, I'd appreciate if a neutral editor could review or submit it.

This article establishes a new biography for Predrag K. Nikolić, a Serbian new-media artist, interaction designer, and academic. The subject meets Wikipedia's notability criteria for academics and artists through:

1. **Significant peer-reviewed publications**: Multiple first-author papers in ACM and Springer journals/conferences (e.g., Proc. ACM Comput. Graph. Interact. Tech., Mobile Networks and Applications), indexed in DBLP and Google Scholar.

2. **International exhibition record**: Repeated participation in major festivals including Ars Electronica (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023) and SIGGRAPH/SIGGRAPH Asia (2018, 2020, 2023), which are globally recognized venues for digital art.

3. **Academic leadership**: Current position as Associate Professor and Head of School at Swinburne University of Technology, and role as Editor-in-Chief of "EAI Endorsed Transactions on Creative Technologies".

4. **Independent reliable sources**: Information is sourced from university websites, academic databases, and festival archives rather than primarily from the subject's own site.

The article follows Wikipedia's manual of style, includes proper inline citations using recognized templates, maintains a neutral point of view, and avoids original research. All major claims are supported by verifiable references.

If someone has time, this article is rather an embarrassment because Samson was a prominent thoracic and cardiac surgeon with a medical society named after him. He was chief of surgery at the hospital at Samuel Merritt University and also was on the faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine. In 1946 he founded the thoracic and cardiac surgery training program at Highland Hospital. One of the problems with all of these Olympics sports stubs is that editors often don't look to see if the person was more notable in something else besides being an Olympic athlete. There's a decent obituary on him in Dr. Paul C. Samson, Oakland Tribune, February 12, 1982, page 4 viewable in newspapers.com. I suggest a re-naming of the title because he certainly was better known as a doctor than an athlete. I'm going to leave similar messages at a few other WikiProjects. Draft:Irving Maidman needing info and expansion

[edit]

A while ago, I’ve submitted a biography draft dedicated to the Russian(?)-American businessman and real-estate developer Irving Maidman, but I’ve never actually gotten started on it. The only reason I know who he was was because of his tenure for the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway, but when I searched his name on Wikipedia, the results showed that he was also relevant for multiple notable locations in New York, including (but not limited to) the Benjamin Royal Sonesta New York, Paramount Hotel, Ambassador Theatre (Broadway), Sony Hall, Port Authority Bus Terminal, West Side Airlines Terminal, and the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. If anyone, and I mean anyone has any additional insight for Maidman’s biography and career, I would highly appreciate it if you’d expand the draft with it. Thank you in advance.
