[change source]Dr. C. Ajithkumar: The Unsung Hero Behind India’s Historic World University Games Medal
lavanya lavanya 19 hours ago
Dr. C. Ajithkumar From a blazing sprinter on the tracks of Kerala to a globally recognized athletic coach, Dr. C. Ajithkumar’s journey is a story of grit, greatness—and glaring neglect.
Dr. Chellappan Ajithkumar, fondly known in Indian sports circles as Dr. C. Ajithkumar, is a name that has come to symbolize dedication, scientific coaching, and international excellence. A former sprinter himself and now one of the most accomplished athletics coaches India has produced, Dr. Ajithkumar hails from the quaint village of Thrickodithanam in Kottayam, Kerala. A proud alumnus of S.B. College, Changanacherry (under MG University, Kottayam), he represented the college from 1987 to 1992 in 100m and 200m sprint events, bagging medals at the Junior National level and All India University meets—a testament to his early promise and athletic prowess.
Today, he stands tall as the first Indian coach in history to guide an athlete to a medal at the World University Games—a momentous achievement realized in 2023 at Chengdu, China, through his protégé Bhavani Yadav Bhagavathi. Yet, despite this monumental contribution to Indian athletics, Dr. Ajithkumar’s groundbreaking feat remains largely unacknowledged by the national sports fraternity. No award, no national-level honor, not even a memento to mark this moment of pride.
A Legacy of International Success
With over 25 years of coaching experience across premier sports institutions in India, Dr. Ajithkumar has carved out a coaching legacy like few others. His athlete-first philosophy, rooted in sports science and personalized training, has catapulted 18 athletes to win 22 international medals, and dozens more to national glory.
Among his most celebrated trainees is Nayana James, who clinched an Asian medal with a 6.55m long jump under his guidance after just four months of training. She topped the Asian rankings in both 2017 and 2018—a direct result of Ajithkumar’s precise training techniques and deep understanding of biomechanics.

A Historic Moment Overlooked
The magnitude of Dr. Ajithkumar’s achievement at the 2023 World University Games cannot be overstated. On December 20, 2023, medal-winning athletes and their coaches were honored at Rashtrapati Bhavan by the President of India. Dr. Ajithkumar was present at the ceremony. In his words:
“Being invited to the Rashtrapati Bhavan was an honor—but not receiving even a single token of recognition from my own country for creating history is my deepest disappointment.” This lack of recognition reflects a broader concern: that even those who bring glory to the nation on the global stage often remain invisible if they are not part of the mainstream narrative.

The Torchbearer India Needs
Dr. C. Ajithkumar is not just a coach—he is a movement. A movement rooted in science, athlete empowerment, and selfless service to Indian sports. Whether mentoring the country’s top jumpers or shaping young talents from rural backgrounds, his passion for athletics remains unmatched.
As India aspires to become a global sporting superpower, it must remember and honor the mentors who light the path—those like Dr. Ajithkumar, whose contributions have already changed the course of Indian athletics.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:40F2:3041:A72B:98C3:4836:8E93:67CF (talk • contribs) 01:10, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
Remove non-existent "See also" in this article?
[change source]It is confusing to have "See also: Wikipedia:User categorisation." Unless it is created very soon, it should be removed, please. Stewi101015 (talk) 22:27, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- No kidding. I've seen too many bozos add ridiculous citations. Aidemus007 (talk) 12:38, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
Remove or create Wikipedia:Userbox migration soon?
[change source]"... , and a directory of them can be found here." looks incorrect; remove or create soon, please. It appears to have been created, but it not a directory. Stewi101015 (talk) 22:33, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Remove non-existent multiple article links, please
[change source]From " ... (cite as WP:UP#Games) (compare Category:Wikipedia games and Category:Wikipedia Word Association.)" in this article; WP:UP#Games redirects to that exact spot (worse than useless). Category:Wikipedia games and Category:Wikipedia Word Association do not exist, so are worse than unhelpful. Stewi101015 (talk) 22:55, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Protected edit request
[change source]{{Editsemiprotected}}I want the page to be simplified because it may not be easy to understand. iPad365 (talk) 02:17, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
- @IPad365: May not be easy? Can you be more specific about which parts you find hard to understand? --Auntof6 (talk) 03:07, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
- Example: "Please do not include non-free images (images uploaded to Wikipedia without the permission of the copyright owner, or under licenses that do not permit commercial use) on your user page or on any subpage of it (this is official policy and the usual wide user page latitude does not apply, see Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria for details)." - this is hard to parse for everyone, I'd say.
- Also: "Inappropriate content - There is broad agreement that you may not include in your user space material that is likely to bring the project into disrepute, or which is likely to give widespread offence. Wikipedia is not a soapbox is usually means user space as well as the encyclopaedia itself. You do have more freedom in user space than elsewhere, but remember: don't be a dick about it. " Also, the second "sentence" does not make any sense.

Items to consider (March 2019)
[change source]The discussion over at WP:Simple talk has me thinking about this guideline a bit. It hasn't been edited at all since 2016. And certainly there are a couple of items more recent than 2016 which even on a very cursory look ought to be incorporated somehow:
- Non-free file uploads: Only admins (and uploaders) can upload files now. So we can probably remove this.
- Global user pages as an alternative to local user pages (or blanked user pages). (Aspects of this would appear in several places here.)
Additionally:
- The request from User:Haraldmmueller just above on simplification probably has some merit, even if the user himself never edited here except for making this request. User is extended-confirmed on English Wikipedia, and autoreview on German Wikipedia, so does have some experience.
- There are some odds and ends I'd probably change a bit. A non-exhaustive list includes:
- Stronger discouragement of certain personal information for users under 18.
- Barnstars are usually placed on user talk pages, not user pages.
- Adding emphasis on the applicability of community policies and WMF rules, most notably WP:Copyright and WP:BLP.
- Fixing a whole bunch of red links.
I'm willing to tackle this over the next couple of weeks. (I'm leaving aside the discussion at WP:ST for now; anything new from that can be incorporated subsequently.) Are people OK with this? Would people prefer that I do this in a sandbox? StevenJ81 (talk) 15:41, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Difficult to understand
[change source]This page might not be written in a manner too complicated for English Wikipedia, but it is certainly to complicated for simple Wik. Kdammers (talk) 01:04, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

- @Immanuelle It's nothing to worry about. People sometimes write random things on talk pages. They can just be removed if they're unrelated to the page. canadachick (talk) 16:33, 14 October 2025 (UTC)
