Shortcuts
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.
This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.
If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.
Please note that administrators may not ping you in replies, so please check on your request if you have not heard anything.
Especially for new users, it is helpful (although not strictly required) to explain what specific task you intend to use AWB to do in your request.

@Pppery - Yeah! I aim to automate simple, repetitive tasks with AWB. For example, fixing grammatical errors. This would help me save time on simple mistakes and help me rather focus on improving and expanding existing Wikipedia articles with new information, acting as a essential copilot. @Pppery - sure, no worries.
I'd mainly use AWB's RegexTypoFix feature to fix grammatical errors, as well as add categories/navboxes (e.g for state legislatures) to a bulk amount of articles. I'd also use it to standardize links and clean up inconsistent formatting. I already have experience with automated tools such as Antivandal and Twinkle, so this would be a great addition to my toolset. WormEater13 (talk • contribs) 16:47, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting as this tool would aid in updating incoming links to Kuna language, which is now a redirect page for Guna language, per WP:POSTMOVE. (This will likely also include updating some links to Guna people, which was moved from Kuna people in 2020, and many pages still link to the redirect page.) I've already done a few manually, and it has been pretty time-consuming. My mainspace edit count is only 380 at time of posting, so of course I totally understand if this request isn't granted, but given the time it's going to take to complete all 160+ WP:POSTMOVE edits without any automation, I'm submitting a request anyway just in case. Update: it seem most of the 160+ links to Kuna language were in transcluded templates! Now that I've updated these templates, the outstanding redirect links are down to 72, and about half of these are non-mainspace, so the workload is much more manageable than I thought. Withdrawing my previous request, as other than the WP:POSTMOVE cleanup for Guna language, I don't currently have a need for AWB. Pineapple Storage (talk) 15:45, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
