Van Epperson Photo
[edit]I am not a computer person and do not understand the technical aspects of Wikipedia.
I am an actor named Van Epperson.
You have marked my personal photo/headshot on my Wikipedia listing for deletion, apparently because I listed the name of my friend who took it as the photographer. You have claimed it is does not show proper copyright permission for public distribution. This is my own personal photo. No one owns it but me and I have the right to list my friend's name who took the photo for me. I believe I put it up with full permission for anyone to use it -- and no one can do that but me -- I own the photo -- it is of me, taken with my own camera by my friend Christopher Anderson. It is a headshot I use professionally. It is all over the web on lots of different websites because I posted it myself. It is publicly displayed in multiple places for anyone to see and use.
If an actor cannot post his own photo that he owns without someone like you marking it for deletion over some made up incorrect assumption that has no basis whatsoever in truth or reality, that really sux.
Please remove whatever you have done to mark my photo of myself for deletion and allow it to remain on my Wikipedia listing. Yes, anyone can use it. It is a public photo. That is why I posted it. Again, it is a photo of ME, that was taken by my friend Christopher Anderson at my request. He is not a professional photographer, he is just my friend. He does not own the photo, I do. He has nothing whatsoever to do with it other than taking it for me, again, at MY REQUEST.
I am completely offended that you have marked my photo for deletion when it is a photo of me, taken at my request, posted on Wikipedia by me. If the permission/copyright needs amendment, I do NOT know how to do that. I attempted to understand the Wikipedia instructions connected to your unwarranted attacking of my photo by marking it for deletion but I did not comprehend them.
Again, please remove whatever you have done to mark my photo for "possible deletion". I would appreciate hearing back from you regarding this so I know my photo will not be removed over your unfounded assumptions. Please write me back on my page, so I will get the message like I got this one or I will never see it.Yeswolf (talk) 17:29, 8 March 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yeswolf (talk • contribs) 17:25, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

- Possible derivative work / freedom of panorama issue. The information for this statue's maker (specifically if they are deceased and when they died, if applicable) and when the statue was made would need to be known to ensure there are no copyright issues. Steel1943 (talk) 23:10, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Per the article which this image is placed, Jean Parisot de Valette, this statue may have been dedicated in 2012, but I'm not seeing any references to truly validate this claim. Either way, a statue being made in 2012 is not old enough to not be eligible for copyright in any country, I believe. Steel1943 (talk) 23:13, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- According to Commons, in Malta FoP is OK for buildings and sculptures, so I don't think it should be an issue here. Re the date, this source makes it clear that it was unveiled in November 2012. Xwejnusgozo (talk) 00:40, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

- The people on this picture are carrying four pictures which are unsourced. Sources for those images need to be identified. Stefan2 (talk) 23:22, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- The information is in the upload log of the original (commons) version of this file. Should be made more explicit in the Description block there (commons:File:To_Commons.svg) and also copied to here (en.wp clone of it). DMacks (talk) 08:38, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
- The copy on Commons has different photos, and the upload log on Commons only refers to the photos which are used on Commons. The photos which are used on Wikipedia are from an unknown source. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:37, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
- Inclined to delete and salt also because the Commons file is fully protected, rendering the local copy redundant as protection. If concerns remain, just reupload the Commons copy, but the local copy as is is iffy.Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 13:19, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
- Delete and salt if there's no reason to have this local copy at all, which is the easiest solution to disentangling different sites' images and licensing issues. DMacks (talk) 02:49, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

- Comment: While it is not immediately clear why the local copy has to have images that are different to the ones that are on the graphic in commons, I would observe that the images on this copy are not particularly clear and since they are incidental to the purpose of the graphic, I would say that de minimis non curat lex applies. --Elektrik Fanne 13:45, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- Quick note See WP:VPT, thread "Deletion timeout on File:To Commons.svg". MER-C had technical problems with deleting the file, and while I deleted it, the deletion was just an attempt to get around the technical problem. The bot closed this PUF because I'd deleted it, but that's really not right; it shouldn't be closed until MER-C has made a decision or until it gets handled by someone else who acts on consensus here. - Possible derivative work / freedom of panorama issue. The information for this statue's maker (specifically if they are deceased and when they died, if applicable) and when the statue was made would need to be known to ensure there are no copyright issues. However, by looking at the image, this statue, this statue was probably made during or after 2006, making this statue far too young to not be eligible for copyright. - I don't see why we are wasting our time on this. Speedy delete. It is up to the uploador to provide a reasonable claim of copyright ownership. The uploadors justification of: This is my picture, mine mine, all mine. It's on the internet for free. doesn't do it. Also, the web site (that is given above) has been created by someone (that according to his CV ) is very IT literate. The uploader here doesn't come over that way. Which ever-way, This is my picture, mine mine, all mine. It's on the internet for free. should not allow this or any other up-loader the free license, of not bothering to even make a half hearted effort to make copyright clear.- and thereby giving us the problem of sorting it out on their behalf. This up-loader is not a newbie and the website creator is IT lit. So, which every-way one looks at it, this image should be speeded.--Aspro (talk) 22:41, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
