This is an area where potential poll candidates can be vetted.
To all potential candidates: please don't be discouraged if your name doesn't appear in the list below, or if it has not passed vetting in one of the specified areas. Your name can easily have been overlooked, and the screening process is more of an art than a science. You are welcome to visit the RfA candidate poll page and judge for yourself if you would like to start a poll.
Vetting guidelines
[edit]New entries entering the raw list should have some reason to be there to prevent vetters from wasting their time.
- Blocks: As this is the easiest check to make, the user should first be vetted for blocks. Blocks within the past three years may be enough to end the vetting of a particular user. Any block for sockpuppetry likewise. Accidental or quickly reverted blocks can probably be ignored.
- AfD: Look for good participation and a high percentage of green.
- Backpage contributions: Inspect contributions for constructive, civil participation in areas other than the mainspace. Consider using this link and replacing "USERNAME" in the url with the username. Look for CSD participation and whether or not the tagging was reverted. Also important are AIV and RfPP. Inspect posts for civility.
- Content creation: Although significant content creation is not essential, it does help at an RfA. A good sign is a significant number of mainspace edits that add content and cite sources, with evidence of using the ref tag, and the
{{citation}}
derived templates. Use of{{harvnb}}
and{{sfn}}
can be a very good indication. Consider using this link and replacing "USERNAME" in the url with the username. Check for non-automated edits.
