See WP:FAKEARTICLE: this is the (promotional) biography, an unverified BLP, for a non-notable person. Drmies (talk) 13:45, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- Delete. Promotional WP:FAKEARTICLE from a user who has not edited since February 2010 and has made no edits outside this topic. User:Flora85/new article name here should also be deleted for the same reason. MER-C 07:31, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks--I did, but I hope I did it correctly. Drmies (talk) 16:49, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
- Taking into account the previous comments, I have now attempted to make this entry a fully verifiable BLP by properly referencing sources, according to rules set out by Wikipedia. I have written this page since I feel that Phil Legg played a notable part in the making of a number of seminal records in the 1980s and 90s, and is a figure I’m particularly interested in. I hope I have made these changes in the correct manner. If not, instead of deleting the page, could you inform me of what criteria need to be satisfied in terms of verification, etc. for this information to be officially accepted by the Wikipedia team [[User: Bill Price - William (talk) 16:54, 5 October 2011 (UTC)]]

- Delete Despite what "Bill Price - William" says, the page is still a promotional piece which does not establish notability. The references are a mixture of pages which barely mention Legg and sources which are not reliable, not independent sources, or both. (I would also be interested to know why Bill Price - William has created a single purpose account just to heavily edit this page in the userspace of another user.) - Hi James,
Thank you for your message. I've put together a response below
Re: Establishing notability: See - Wikipedia: “Notability If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list.” The following references are articles solely about Phil Legg:
- Ref 1: Sound Magazine (Media Week Ltd) – “Phil Legg: Designed Well, Engineered Well Wishing Well” (Sept 1987) 4 page article
- Ref: 22: Stage & Studio (Testa Communication) – “Phil Legg records Curiosity Killed the Cat: ‘Treat You So Well’ and ‘We Just Got To Do It’ (March 1989) 3 page article
Re: Source reliability: A number of the sources I have referenced in this article adhere to Wikipedia’s terms of reliability: see - Wikipedia: Identifying Reliable Sources: “Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy.” These sources include;
- Ref 5: Rolling Stone Magazine
- Ref 1: Sound Magazine
- Ref 22: Stage & Studio
- Ref 23: Sound on Sound Magazine
Re: Independent sources: I have used independent sources as outlined by Wikipedia: see - Wikipedia: Independent Sources “Examples: Person: : Newspaper, Magazine, Scholarly books”. Magazines:
- Ref 1: Sound Magazine (Media Week Ltd)
- Ref 5: Rolling Stone (Straight Arrow publishers)
- Ref 11: London Tourdates
- Ref 23: Sound on Sound (Sound On Sound)
- Ref 25: Billboard Magazine (Billboard)
- Ref 22: Stage & Studio (Testa Communications)
Scholarly Books:
- Ref 3: International Discography of the New Wave(Omnibus Press)
- Ref 9: Rough Trade (Black Dog Publishing)
To answer your question about the editing of this page: Originally, I began constructing the page with Flora85 as a joint venture. Flora relocated to Holland, so the page was left unfinished. As a new Wikipedia user (and perhaps an error on my part) I decided to complete the page by setting up a new independent account, as I could no longer access the Flora85 account. Also, I’d like to say that I would be interested in contributing to other Wikipedia articles, as I am very interested in the UK music scene.

- Keep User:Flora85 Bill Price's sources indicate that Phil Legg likely passes the notability guidelines. The Sound Magazine article contains significant coverage about Legg. See http://www.docspal.com/viewer?id=xwdxpja-837364 for a temporary online viewer of the pdf. The Stage & Studio article contains several paragraphs of coverage about Legg (temporary online viewer of the pdf). There is sufficient coverage to void A7 if this page had been in the mainspace. It may even pass an AfD nomination.
Delete User:Flora85/new article name here as being a redundant inferior version of User:Flora85. Cunard (talk) 22:53, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Keep User:Flora85. Quite a decent draft ready for mainspace. Delete User:Flora85/new article name here, it is a directory listing dump, presumably used as notes to get started, but nnot intended as the actual content, and superceded on the first day. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 21:33, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Keep User:Flora85 and Delete User:Flora85/new article name here per Cunard and SmokeyJoe. --Kleinzach 02:10, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
