De-PRODding rationale was this: harmless; useful for identification; and usefully gives a sense of the feel of the series. However, usefulness is something to be careful to argue about. So is "harmless". Neither usefulness nor harmlessness is an excuse for the DVD covers' potential failure to comply with NFCC. Sure, there are actors in the covers, but I don't see how they add anything to understanding, i.e. contextually signify, the short-lived TV parodical series. Also, treating individual seasons/series as if they are individually notable may insufficently justify use of the DVD covers... unless we wanna be consistent with other articles using DVD covers? So far as I can see, very few or no articles use DVD covers as separate from title cards or title logos for TV series articles. George Ho (talk) 21:52, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Per de-PROD. Showing an ensemble view of the cast in costume and character to give a sense of the feel of the series is generally considered a valuable addition to the understanding readers have of the topic, that can satisfy NFCC #8, beyond what is conveyed just by a logo. Also, when media have been issued with two very different images (cf the guidance at Template:Infobox_album#Template:Extra_album_cover on alternate album covers), we consider the additional information of the product identification can also be a valuable addition to reader understanding.
WP:NFC is not based on ideology, but to address very real real-world concerns: that images used will not discourage free images from being uploaded; that our use will be legal, and perceived to be legal and restrained; that potential reusers should not be inconvenienced; that within that we should try to be as valuable and informative a platform for our readers as we can, so that people will want to contribute here. Yes, we need to be restrained, and more than that we need to be perceived to be acting in a restrained way. NFC content here needs to be fulfilling a purpose. But, per the above, my view is that the use of the two cover images are adding something valuable to reader knowledge and understanding of the topic, and their use is not harmful to the considerations above and what we're trying to do here.
I would also make the comment that PROD mechanisms should almost never be used for questions of NFCC #8, which should generally be brought to the community for a community discussion. Jheald (talk) 15:30, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. The files does not significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would not be detrimental to that understanding (WP:NFCC#8). — Ирука13 10:27, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Per WP:NFLISTS, Images that show multiple elements of the list at the same time, such as a cast shot or montage for a television show, are strongly preferred over individual images. If the intent is to show the cast in costume and character, a single cast shot should be used. Using multiple non-free items of DVD covers is not justified in the absence of said cast shot. plicit 14:22, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused: How does WP:NFLISTS apply here? The article is about a TV show, not a list of anything. George Ho (talk) 17:13, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@George Ho: "In articles and sections of articles that consist of several small sections of information for a series of elements common to a topic" (emphasis mine). DVD covers for series 1 and 2 are being used in sections about series 1 and 2. plicit 00:31, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
