The station, according to the FCC doesn't exist. I can't find a license for it, and the article has no sources other than that. --ḾỊḼʘɴίcả • Talk • I DX for fun! 18:41, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete It seems that the station had received a construction permit from the FCC around the time of the creation of the article, but hadn't got to the stage of receiving a broadcast permit. (For the distinction between the two, you can always try Wikipedia. The Construction permit article has a section on broadcasting permits that explains.) The company that owned KBNY, Equity Broadcasting, ran into financial difficulties in 2008 and presumably this meant that KBNY was put on hold. However, I was able to dig up a record on the FCC site here, that says that an application for an extension of the construction permit was rejected in January of this year. So, as the station never made it on air, the construction permit has run out and there doesn't seem to be any significant coverage that would satsify WP:GNG, it would seem that deletion would be the way to go. - Delete: Agree with Flowerpotman. Station never made it to the "License to Cover" stage (which is what is needed to be a legal broadcast station). They never got that far, so they were just a station on paper. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 01:00, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. KBNY is a construction permit only at this point. There should only be an article if the station ever makes it on the air (which is unlikely given Equity's 2008 bankruptcy and 2009 auction of 60 TV stations. But the construction permit should possibly be mentioned, with source, in this section next to the other construction permits that were presumably canceled when Equity sold off its assets. - Comment I agree that a mention of the construction permit might be appropriate in the Equity Media article. Just one point that might be worth mentioning though is that (AFAIK) the FCC recycles call signs. (I know they have recycled radio callsigns, which is something I picked up from looking at various Wikipedia articles over the years :)) So, if it is mentioned, possibly it should be mentioned that KBNY was the callsign for this proposed station to avoid confusion for any future articles. - Delete. According to the FCC, KBNY was deleted on January 7, 2011. New World Man (talk) 03:46, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
