Delete appears to be a promotional piece. Mostly first party coverage. Nothing independent and reliable enough to establish notability, as required by the WP:GNG. Vcessayist (talk) 02:06, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. Please note this is an educational assignment. The students have been informed of the notability issue, and hopefully they'll reply. Comment. Agree its not a promotional piece, but I don't see much hope for notability. It looks like the instructor raised this potential issue before the article was written ("does it really matter that Ithaca Bakery appear in an encyclopedia? If you believe so, then you should convince the Wikipedia community - otherwise you will face deletion.") Few local restaurants are notable, especially in what is apparently a fairly small city. Cf. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bodo's Bagels (August 2012), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul's Pastry Shop (February 2010). Now, its good as a matter of capturing human knowledge that students are recording the history of the establishment(s), and clearly research has gone into the article, but that does not mean Wikipedia is the place for it. The students are getting an education in Wikipedia procedure right now. Perhaps they can write a paper about why this bagel shop is like or not like Mzoli's or Moosewood Restaurant (which from a quick search appears to be the only restaurant article we have from that city).--Milowent • ^hasspoken 20:12, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. This is not promotional material - I am the instructor guiding the students on this article. This specific business is important to the cultural scene in Ithaca, NY, plays a role in efforts for environmental and cultural sustainability of the area, and appears in guide books for the Finger Lakes area. Please do not delete it to not push potential Wikipedia editors away from editing articles, but instead I'd be happy to see other Wikipedians contribute to this article, adding sources and improving the article to add to its notability, and discussing these matters with the students who wrote this article. - Comment I understand that these students are attempting to create meaningful Wikipedia content, and I applaud them for that. Unfortunately, this article doesn't appear to meet the criteria for inclusion. My own search for evidence of signficant coverage of this local bakery outside of local media (mostly the college papers of Cornell University and Ithaca College) proved fruitless. - I also failed to turn up sources. It's in the creators (students) ballpark to find them, we can help, but we cannot magic them out of thin air. Perhaps the students or you will be able to provide them (perhaps you can find something through a search of local newspapers that we missed, or perhaps you know of some books or academic articles that discuss it, and so on). If you cannot find such sources, the article will have to be deleted, although I'd like to suggest to the closing admin that it is userfied instead, so that the evidence of this assignment remains (and perhaps at some future point this restaurant will become notable, and the article will be easier to restore then). --_{Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here} 16:49, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some sources which appear to be from local newspapers, as well as a local history book. It appears the store was originally called "Bruno's Bakery" and owned by Bruno Mazza so that led me to find some of them.--Milowent • ^hasspoken 17:40, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, that one is in Brooklyn, New York, not the same place. One article I'd like to find, but I'm sure the students could, is this one [1] from 2003 in the Ithaca newspaper, for which the google snip says "In the October issue, the Ithaca Bakery came in for full feature treatment, with a five-page spread, color photos and an in-depth profile of the five Brous ..." It appears to be referencing some full treatment of the business in some other publication, but I can't see which.--Milowent • ^hasspoken 17:57, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
